My van broke down on us the Sat before last on our way home from Orlando. Had to have it towed to the mechanic. I went all last week without a car and they finally got to it today, motor is blown, they are trying to find a new one, blah blah. So who knows how much longer I will be without a car. Tomorrow, my girls are having their School Wide Thanksgiving dinner at lunch time with turkey and all the fixings. They encourage all parents to attend and eat with their kids. My older daughter has a staring role in a play her class is putting on complete with costumes. So i'm sad because I won't be able to attend... have no way to get there. My grandmother is my only source for a car as my husband and every other family member has to work. But my grandmother has her nephew and family staying with her and she is hosting Thanksgiving so I dare not ask her for assistance. I'm sad, disappointed... but there is nothing I can do about it. Hopefully they will take some pictures at least :guilty:

Maybe one of the other parents could give you a ride. Or hop the bus in the morning, and help set up, if they need it. Or maybe take a cab, the school can't be too far; you could even take a bike, or walk if it isn't too far.

Not having a car is hard, but not the end of the world.

My thoughts exactly. :)

Oh please don't give up! There have to be other parents around you that can help you out! Best of luck!

Won't your DH be going? Can't he drive? Could you drop him off at work in the morning and have the car for the day and pick him up at the end of the day? How about renting a car for the day? I agree with the other suggestions about calling someone/riding a bike, etc.

My husband has to go to work... it takes an hour both ways to get to his work. I only have aquaintances at the school, no phone numbers of anyone :-(
We don't have a bus stop anywhere near us and I will have my 17 month old son with me...
The school is about 20 miles away (private school) so it seems like both ways with a cab it would get kinda expensive and with the car needing a whole new motor, no extra money for things like that.

I know an excuse for every suggestion... yuck!

Seems like a good opportunity to turn one of those aquaintances into a friend.

People can never have enough friends.

Definately! But for the future as I have no ones phone numbers, plus 3/4 of them live out by the school.... There was one mom who had 2 girls who went to the school that lived one road over but they left there to go to an art & performance school.

But it doesn't matter now because where there is a will, there is a way! My aunt just called my husband. She bought a new car today and she is giving my husband her old car! It's a toyota cellica that is about 8 years old but it's just her and she kept it in such nice condition. My husbands car isn't in the best condition so it's really awesome she offered it. So my husband will take his car to work tomorrow and i get to take the new (to us) car! So it all works out.
