So....we bought airfare for our dec 15th-21st trip on SWA becasue at the time it was the cheapest.
We wanted Virgin America but at the time they wanted an arm and a leg to fly home. (about $350/person for one way)
So we paid $1277 for 3 of us to fly from burbank to orlando.

Well.....Virgin America is now $700 RT for 3 people on DIRECT FLIGHTS!!!!! from LAX-MCO.

Almost $600 cheaper...well that just blows

Is the SWA a non-stop? And are the virgin america flight non-stop or direct? They are 2 different things.. Depending on the answers to those questions, that would be what would decide for me if it blew or not :)

edit: NM.. appears none of the SW flights are nonstop.

The OP clearly says the Virgin flight is direct????:confused3

Anyway, OPster, can you cancel the SW flights for credit, pick up those great VA flights, and then use the credit at another time? Does SW charge a big fee for that?

The thing is that people use the two terms interchangeably but they do not actually mean the same thing. Direct could mean that the plane stops somewhere on the way - you just don't have to change planes (when you change planes it is a connecting flight).

So, the OP *said* direct, but may have meant non-stop. So, I think dburg was asking because if the Virgin flight did stop somewhere, it wasn't quite as big of a tragedy.

OP - SW has some of the most generous cancellation policies going. If you can use the credit within one year of the day you bought the tickets, I'd cancel and rebook with Virgin. There is no fee (though you cannot get a refund, just a credit).
