Well that's ONE way of getting me to slow down at WDW

This won't be much of a PTR, but maybe the start of a PTR! (that's, er, POST-trip report) I've been trying for multiple trips to slow down my "commando" Disney-style (and no, DH, that does not have anything to do with undergarments, no matter how many ways to try to work that joke in...) In 2003 I took my recently betrothed along with my whole family (and siblings' significant others who are no longer significant) to WDW Thanksgiving-style! By the end of the trip then-FI was literally limping between attractions from all the blisters :eek: and the significant others were mumbling something about "never again" I don't know I could really hear them with the wind whistling past my ears as I power walked from Splash Mountain to Main Street to hear the Barbershop Quartet one more time.

In 2006 I planned a perfectly magical Grand Gathering with 13 extended family members, and while I felt like patting myself on the back every evening for a well executed, not-quite-power-walking day of fun, I hear my uncle with double knee replacements isn't interested to join us again any time soon...hmm.*

(*disclaimer: I do actually encourage others to go at their own pace to attractions that interest them, and we can meet up at our ADRs, I really do. I guess I remain the family pied piper with my daily itineraries!)

Well after one more trip in 2007 where we announced our pregnancy to my family on a cake at FF, we are now bringing that munchkin with us for his first trip to "Mickey's Castle Clubhouse" as he calls it. :yay: My parents always did an amazing job of keeping our days simple at the World, with frequent trips back to the Fort's pool and even one "Land" in a day (I can't fathom their strength, really) I want to recreate that for DS so as to not over-stimulate him every moment of every day. It was just the executing part that would be so difficult.

Until...popcorn::

Yesterday we drove from Minneapolis to our hometown to visit DH's family before hopping the plane to the Mickey's Castle Clubhouse with my fam. We were 10 miles from home when traffic backed up and I hit the brakes. I look in the rearview mirror and the people behind me hit the brakes ...:worship:PHEW! I keep looking behind and the car behind them does NOT hit the brakes.
:eek:

:scared:

:scared1:

:mad:

:sad:

:sad2:

:sick:

We are all okay. :worship: DS2 was in his excellent 5-point harness carseat and I'm sure felt the impact, I have a suspicion that he only really started crying because I screamed, which was very upsetting to him. With enough snuggles and snacks he calmed down well. :lovestruc We were delayed 4 hours before the rest of our 6 hour drive, but DS got to ride in a tow truck "The car was scary and owie, but this is *really* fun!"-DS The tow truck driver had a 'Mater keychain!!! :love: DS was highly entertained by that!!

This Thanksgiving I'm going to have a longer than usual list of things to be grateful for as I had a brush with seeing these amazing blessings--like an amazingly sweet 2 year old boy, a wonderful husband who compliments me so perfectly well, and a modern car designed to protect me--in a heightened sense where all I can do is turn to thank God.

So...no "commando" Erin this trip (still not funny, DH...) With this whiplash I might have to skip ToT, RnR, Mission Space, EE and newly opened Space Mtn...:( ...but my body now HAS to move more slowly, so I can now be sure to enjoy the slower, quieter magical moments with DS in Pooh's Playful Spot, in a hammock at CBR or a very slow stroll through the Osborne Lights and just be thankful... :lovestruc
