Well, THAT was embarrassing!

OK, this thread might be a warning to myself.
I bought a DVD of "Love Always" and watched and it skipped like half the movie. Problem is, no receipt and I bought it right before Christmas, just now wartched it.
My plan WAS (prior to this thread) going to be buy another copy and trade it for the one I just bought. Now I feel too guilty.

We lost the movie Treasure Planet from Netflix. I had the sleeve and the return envelope, but I was not going to pay the lost movie fee( I think it was $15-$18) I bought a Treasure Planet DVD from someone off EBay for 1/2 the price, and I returned that to Netflix.

Yes! Come to the dark side! Help me unravel the moral fiber of our great nation!

We got lots of duplicate DVDs for Christmas because there was only ONE title that DS really wanted, and that was what he asked for from everyone. I took all of the unopened copies back to different stores for credit even though I knew they had all come from online places like Amazon. It's all part of my evil master plan to sytematically dismantle retail as we know it.

I am actually sort of impressed that I committed an infraction worthy of condemnation by the DIS Ethics Police. :bitelip: Makes me feel all giddy!

Now I know that Nordstom's policy is to take back shoes NO MATTER WHAT, so I don't know why he bothered to ask and glare at me when I answered. (The sandals for DH aren't from Nordstrom, but when I bought my Crocs the girl said they take back shoes even if they HAVE been worn.)

They do. I bought a pair of boots from them. I wore them around the house and they were fine. I wore them out and omg I wanted to cut my feet off. But since I wore them I figured I was out of luck. MY friend insisted they would take them back and bet me $30. So I called and said "hi, I have a pair of boots I bought from you. I don't have the box and they have been worn. They are the most painful shoes I have ever worn. My friend bet me $30 to ask if you'll take them back. I don't think you will". The lady said "If you have the receipt we'll take them back".

I'm sorry but I think you were out of line. He wore the shoes, you were past the price adjustment period. You tried a trick and it barely worked.

I totally disagree with this. The shoes went on sale within a reasonable time from when she first bought them. I would have done the very same thing.
20 bucks is 20 bucks. :teeth:

For the record, I have never returned shoes to Nordstrom that have been worn. In fact, I have never returned worn shoes at all, to any store. I have several pairs that DESERVED to be returned after I wore them, but they are still in my closet. Darn. Maybe I am not entirely evil after all.

Such great ideas! I think I will do it after all! To hell w/ society as we know it.... :rotfl:

Another variation of buying used shoes. I happen to wear the size that is usually put on display. I tried on the one that was on display, liked it, looked for the box. Didn't notice that the one in the box, marked the size of the one on display, was a whole size smaller. Got the shoes home. Frequently, the shoe that was on display is a little stretched from being on display. This one was no different, but, I could barely get my other foot in the other shoe. I was so happy that the store not only had another pair of the correct size two days later, but, blamed the clerk who checked me out instead of me for my foolishness and haste in not trying on both shoes while still in the store.

Personally, I think this is a different situation. I would take the dvd to Walmart and explain that it is defective. They will do an "even exchange" in all probability even without a receipt. They do take back defective items.

I have returned worn shoes one time. This time last year I bought a pair of shoes to wear to my DD's high school graduation. They hurt my foot so much in my very brief walk--my DH dropped us off 1/2 block from the entrance and picked us up about a block away, so I hardly walked in the shoes. They literally cut into my foot. I returned them to Kohl's and the lady started to argue, but I held my ground on that one. I explained how little I wore them and what they did to my foot. In general, though, I've been able to tell if shoes are ok when wearing them around my house and I would either return them without wearing them outside or I'd take the loss.

Both places I worked in retail (total of about 8 years), we were supposed to check both shoes for size as we rang them. One of the places (Kohl's), the register actually prompts you to check the shoe after you scan the barcode and you have to physically press the Enter key to confirm that you have.

When I was 16 I worked for Sears, They had a VERY lenient return policy. You could Return Anything (clothing) you purchased from sears as long as you had a reciept. It didn't matter how long you'd had it, or in what condition it was.

This one woman brought in couple pairs of panties, yes OLD panties, that were falling apart. They were... used  . They were worn, and they were... NASTY :faint: . We had to take them back because she had a receipt.

I also worked in the shoe department. When someone would return shoes to us, we would take them back, but we didn't put them back on the shelves, they got cut and tossed in the garbage bin. The health code would not permit them to be sold again, but why we couldn't give them to charity I had no idea.

Can someone drop by my house and pick up all the pairs of shoes I've bought, but have never worn, and return them somewhere for me?

:rotfl2: I have plenty of those shoes in my closet, too. The only reason I returned the one pair of shoes was the were so over the top painful. I think they were flawed since a shoe of that type shouldn't dig into the foot and make it bleed.
