I am a grown woman, in my 30's and I just had to call my dad because I heard scratching coming from behind the computer desk. Lovely man that he was, he came over armed with a flashlight. It's 9:30 pm and I know he was about ready to go to bed, but he came to my house to protect me from whatever creepy crawly was doing the scratching. My thoughts were mouse or lizard. Either one would be bad, but manageable. The worst case scenario would be a snake or a frog. And the worst, worst case would be shark, but that seemed highly unlikely. Anyway, after moving the printer and a little manipulation, it turns out to be a bug. It was a really big beetle, but it was still just a bug. I could have handled a bug. So, the bug was flushed, my dad went home (left his flashlight behind) and I sit hear thinking that I am the biggest wimp I know. What a night. I'm going to bed. :guilty:

Awwww, that sucks. At least it was your dad and not someone who might be irritated with you (and MOCK you over this incident forever more!)

Cheers, Sthronds!

Lucky for you that you have such a good daddy. I miss mine every day. He died when I was 21, but he would have done the same thing, except he would have teased me with dead bug and then would have never let me forget it!

God bless daddies who love their little girls forever.

That was sweet of your Dad, my Dad died when I was 23. I miss him so much. It was 14 years yesterday that he left us.

He would have done the same thing and been right over.

I'm only 19, but I yell "Daddy!" everytime there's a spider, even if I know he's not home. Any bug actually. Or any noise. I'm a wimp about a lot of stuff. The other night at about 1am, I was laying in bed watching tv trying to fall asleep and heard a loud boom from the kitchen. I freaked out, since no one else is up at that hour, and the dog was barking (which he never does). Grabbed my cell phone and called dad's cell phone. He went and checked for me- a can of fish food fell of the counter onto the top of the trashcan. I felt bad because he gets up for work every morning at 4am, and had been at a three-alarm fire call until about 11pm. :firefight Boy do I love my daddy.

Thats what Dads are for! :thumbsup2

You are so lucky to have had your dad to come over and take care of the "Monster". :rotfl: I had a very similar situation happen to me about five years ago when my DS and I were living in a small 1 bedroom Condo complex. One night I was sitting on the sofa watching :happytv: TV and I kept hearing a scratching noise coming from across the room so I muted the TV, listened, got up and followed the sound to the wall above the TV where I had some pictures hanging. The sound was coming from one picture particularly that was old with the paper backing. I was terrified :scared: because I new something was in there so I got a paper bag and dropped the picture in it and sure enough a big ole icky cockroach was what was making all the noise. YUK!!!! That was the 1st roach I had seen (or heard in my case) in the 5 years that I had lived there. Anyway, I just through the bag away, picture, roach and all!!! :lmao: Didn't want to risk that it was setting up house in there. Ewwww...... :rotfl2:

I love your story. It sounds like something my DD would do. You just have to love these guys that think of you as their little girl even though you're way past little.
Even though I'm married and have been for awhile, my DD still comes over and asks when the batteries were changed in the smoke alarm, do we need a new fire extinguisher, jumper cables for the car, etc. He's finally relaxing after realizing that my DH isn't completely incompetant. :rotfl:

Oh, and I would have screamed at the VERY large beetle (okay a small one too). :scared1:

Oh my! I would have had a heart attack over a bug loud enough to make a scratching noise behind my desk! I think I would have much prefered a mouse or a lizard or frog!

I wouldn't feel too bad! I'm sure your dad was happy to help. :goodvibes My dad died when I was only 19 but I'm sure he would have done the same thing. That's what dads are for after all! ;)

I here ya, I would rather fight a sumu wrestler then take on a bug :teeth:

Glad it wasn't a shark ;) Those land sharks are especially nasty this time of the year! :lmao:

A bug that was big enough to make a scratching noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I still would have called my Dad for that.

Holy cow!!!!!

Well, this morning, head hung in shame, I returned the flashlight and apologized again to my dad. Being a good dad, he laughed and teased me about saving me from the big bad beetle monster. :lmao: I guess it's just another story he'll be able to tell my future husband. To add to my shame he already told my mom that when he came over, I was sitting on the table with my dog. I didn't want it to run out at me! :rolleyes1

Thanks Dad!

THAT'S WHAT DADDY'S DO, MINE WOULD HAVE COME RIGHT OVER-PROBABLY WOULD HAVE TEASED ME TOO. I MISS MINE A LOT, HE DIED THE DAY BEFORE MY 20TH BIRTHDAY, HE'S BEEN GONE FOR 11 YEARS. MY B.DAY IS THE 14TH OF THIS MONTH-HARD DAY. JUST KISS YOUR DAD A SPECIAL TIME FOR ALL OF US WHO CAN'T ANYMORE :grouphug: :thumbsup2

Dad's are the best!!!! That is a great story!

I'm blessed every day that I have my dad with me. We talk every day. In fact today he asked what I was doing on my lunch hour and I told him the store I had to go to. There he was at the store waiting for me to say hi  I just love him so. I may be 38 years old but he is the one who I can tell everything to and will always be there for me.

Awww...don't be embarrassed. Our next door neighbor (who are sort of like adopted grandparents for DH,DS and I) had to come over and kill a wasp for me. The wasp had come inside the house while I was bringing DS in after his afternoon 'swim' in the wading pool. It was a huge, black wasp and it scared me to death. I tried to kill it by throwing a shoe at it, but it landed on a window and buzzed in an annoyed manner at me. That's when I called Mr.Next Door to come kill it for me.

I am not the least bit ashamed that I squealed like a little girl.

My dad is the best and would have done the same thing for me. This past winter I had one pipe freeze and wanted him to come over. He knew there was nothing he could do for me but he came over anyway at 10:30 at night!!!

2 years ago my dad came to my rescue I had felt so stupid. My parents and I were eating at Subway and my DM saw some guy get out of his truck and door ding my first ever BRAND NEW Pathfinder. I went out to check and sure enough there was red paint, scratches and dents on the passenger side door. I ran into the fast food place and while the guy was standing in line I pointed to him and said, "Daddy, that guy hit my car," and my great dad took care of it from there. I wonder what other people in the restaurant thought about a 24 year old yelling that!!!
