We'll sleep when we get home! A fun-filled mother/daughter vacation! (Updated 1/21)

Finally made it over here.

Great location on your room! :thumbsup2

Good old Judy. She doesn't know she is a DIS celebrity of sorts.

We're at the bus stop. Now it's off to a park! :cool1:

Wow, when you update... you UPDATE! LOL That's so cool you met a guy on the bus with a son in the DCP. I really need to start asking about that now, probably should've asked on my last trip, but oh well. :teeth:

Awesome to see you got all your room requests and I love the view you chose. The little towel animal is awesome too. I always manage to only get the Hidden Mickey towel. It's starting to bother me now :sad2:

Oooo... all the tie-dye food looks really good. I'm really wanting to go to POP now  And I love the pictures of the scenic route you took from your room to the buses at POP. It looks so cool around there. Imagine if POP had finished Legendary Years, that would've been very cool to see all the great photo ops around there :goodvibes

Oooo... on the bus and off to the parks. Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Great start! I'm looking forward to reading about the mother daughtrwr dynamics. I can't wait until I get to take a mother daughter trip!

Welcome! :goodvibes
Haha I know! I was tempted to say something, but then I thought she'd think I was absolutely insane.

Haha! I was planning on one post, but then I discovered the 25 picture limit. Here's a fair warning, that will probably happen a lot in this TR, and probably in my post for today! There's always next trip to talk to new people! That's one of my favorite things about Disney. Practically everyone has a common interest so it's fun to make new friends in line, on a ride, or even on a bus. ;)

Thanks! I was very specific when I asked my mom to request it. She joked around, "want to request a room number too?" to which I replied "sure, why not!" :) We got a couple of towel animals this trip, they sure did make up for not getting any the past years. I never got a Hidden Mickey one, but I've seen pictures. They're cool, so don't get too bothered about not getting the little guys!

Pop is wonderful. Especially for the money. And Disney food is wonderful too. Especially when it's tie-dyed. :thumbsup2 The Legendary Years would have been neat to see. My mom said it could have been a little hard though, since there was WW1 & WW2 and the Great Depression going on at that time, but I'm sure they could have found happy things to include in the resort. AOA will be nice though. I actually saw some new concept art earlier today. I have no interest in the Cars rooms, they look too motel to me. I know, I know, that's the theme with the movie. But still! Nemo looks pretty, but my mom would probably not pay those prices when there are only 2 of us going. The Little Mermaid rooms are always a possibility, if they don't sell out! She said she'd rather go deluxe for the price of the suites, which I have no problem with. ;)

Great start! I'm looking forward to reading about the mother daughtrwr dynamics. I can't wait until I get to take a mother daughter trip!

Thank you! Mother daughter trips are soooo much fun. :goodvibes

Where were we off to, you may be wondering? Take a guess.

Any guess.

Come on.

You know you wanna.

Got an idea yet?

Your have 4 choices.

6 including waterparks.

Just kidding.

We didn’t get the Waterparks fun and more option.

So 5 including Downtown Disney.

Ok.

I’ll stop now.

We were headed to…

The MAGIC KINGDOM! :wizard:

I was smiling ear to ear when I heard the Mickey Mouse Club music playing as we entered the bus lot. First things first, we had to upgrade our base tickets! We went to Guest Relations and a nice CM helped us out. Mommy got Goofy on hers and I got Mickey. I was THRILLED! But then we noticed something…our last name was spelled wrong! So after waiting in a long line to get into the park out in the hot Florida sun, we had to step out and go back to Guest Relations. Yeah, I was not a happy camper. I just wanted to get inside and feel all the magic already! I waited in the shade for a couple minutes replying to some texts, but then I joined her over at the desk. Our new AP’s were getting printed out. I was anxious to see who I got. I was really hoping it was Mickey.

It wasn’t. It was Donald.

DSC_0510-1.jpg

(That picture was taken the next day at Test Track, but it’s the only picture I have of it!)

I got a little upset because I was really happy to get Mickey the first time! I know I should have been happy from the start that I actually HAD an annual pass, and with that comes the promise that there are more trips coming in the next YEAR. But I was silly. I got over it very soon though, because we were in the Magic Kingdom!

Now here’s a little side note. I’m sure you guys have read many trip reports before. And I’m sure when the TR writer went to the Magic Kingdom, he/she took a picture of the castle while walking right down the middle of Main Street, USA first thing. I kinda….didn’t. At this point in the trip, I thought my camera bag was too bulky to carry around the parks because it’s a square, so I used a drawstring. (You can see it in the yellow Pop sign picture a bit.) It’s not the easiest for access, and it was really hurting my shoulders at the end of the day, so from day 2 on, I used the camera bag which actually wasn’t bulky at all!

The park was poppin’, which was pretty understandable at 3:00 in the afternoon. I could already feel my hair starting to frizz and curl, so we stopped in the Emporium where I got a cute hair tie with little mickey heads on it. We also bought something else, I can’t remember what. We asked the CM at the desk if we get a discount with the AP. He said an AP gets you anything. ;) Oh really? If that was true, my first wish would be a night in Cinderella’s Castle! After we left the store, we had no clue what we wanted to do first, but all we knew is that we wanted to get into air conditioning fast. So after a 20 some minute wait, we ended up here…

DSC_0410-1.jpg

I just love this ride! I know some people joke around and say the song is annoying, but I find it adorable. It’s on my iPod and everything. :thumbsup2: (Which reminds me, I said that a LOT during this trip. It was too the point that if my mom and I heard some music in a place, I turned around and opened my mouth to say something, she would say “Is this on your iPod too?” or “Of course it is!”” (:

So please remain seated, keep your hands, arms, feet and legs inside the boat at all times and enjoy the ride!

We love saying these different forms of goodbye! :goodvibes

DSC_0439.jpg

I'm blanking out on what we did next, but I'm thinking we went to Splash Mountain because I have pictures of The Briar Patch gift shop. It's so cozy in here!

DSC_0442.jpg

DSC_0440.jpg

DSC_0441.jpg

I think Splash was down, so we didn't bother to get fastpasses for me. (My mom doesn't like roller coasters or log flumes...or Tower of Terror, but I don't know what to categorize that as. )

Crowds were insane.

DSC_0443.jpg

We wanted to do another attraction where we get to relax in air conditioning, so we headed back over to Liberty Square.

We passed Brer Rabbit along the way.

DSC_0444.jpg

And eventually arrived here.

DSC_0445.jpg

I love History, so I was actually excited to be seeing this again! Unfortunately, our experience was ruined because there was not 1, but 2 crying kids in the audience! :scared1: It wouldn't have been too bad if we weren't sitting by them, but one of them was right behind us. It was not fun. :sad2: The other crying kid wasn't annoying, but actually funny because he randomly had an outburst when Lincoln started speaking. :lmao: His dad took him out of the theater, which we were wishing the other parents would have done with the crying baby, but they didn't. :(

We had a Crystal Palace reservation later that night so we headed to Main Street. First, we had to take some pictures! :goodvibes

Hi! Thank you. :yay: That's so cool, where from? :goodvibes Thanks for joining!
i'm from Long Island. :thumbsup2

I love It's A Small World..it's one of my favorites. I always take way too many pictures on it, though. :)
oh and i love hall of presidents..i like history too! too bad about the crying, though!!

We walked down Main Street after out little photoshoot and passed by the Crystal Palace.

DSC_0456.jpg

I made it a point this year to read names on the windows. I never did it until this trip, and I’m happy I did. It’s so fun to see the names of all of the people who helped create this amazing place being displayed right on Main Street!

DSC_0457.jpg

We saw some interesting flowers…or pretty leaves. Whichever you prefer. ;)

DSC_0458.jpg

Isn’t Main Street just lovely?!

DSC_0459.jpg

I LOVED these! Do any of you watch Toddlers & Tiaras? I love it. Ahaha, the big crown, second row all the way to the right reminded me of an Ultimate Grand Supreme one. I took many pictures with it on later in the trip, believe me.

DSC_0460.jpg

Wouldn’t this be a nice addition to all of our homes? :goodvibes

DSC_0461.jpg

This little spot is so fun to relax in. We hung out there for a while later on in the trip.

DSC_0462.jpg

Gifts and more gifts!

DSC_0463.jpg

Hi, Casey! I never ate here before. I don’t like hot dogs, but we walked in there before and sat in the seating area to watch cartoons before and I love the atmosphere.

DSC_0464.jpg

Isn’t this beautiful?

DSC_0465.jpg

Ducky! I love ducks. They’re so CUTE! I must have at least 20 pictures of ducks from this trip.

My mom took pictures of me with characters on her old camera which has film, and the pictures haven't been developed yet so I don't have any to post. I don't think I will though, because I looked like a hot mess.

I don't have any other pictures from here, but I will post a review.

Food Review:
The Crystal Palace used to be one of our favorites. I'd swear by it. But this time was just...disappointing. Maybe it's because I've changed my eating habits around so I'm eating more than just stuff like mashed potatoes, mac&cheese, and bread. But the character interaction was not good. At first I thought it was because I was 14 and all. But it wasn't. The characters just rushed by every table. When the little girl at the table next to me tried to get their attention, they didn't do a thing. :sad2: They just breezed by each table. The only saving grace of the experience was our waitress. She was bubbly and kind, and managed to get me to smile even while I was so disappointed. Good thing we were on the free dining plan, because that meal was NOT worth 90 dollars. :scared1: I have heard that the breakfast is better, but I'm not a huge breakfast person. I could just have a bagel and be filled, so chances are we probably will not be going back to the Crystal Palace. :(

Don't worry though! I know there have been a couple not-so-magical experiences today, but that all changes starting tomorrow. :thumbsup2

After the Crystal Palace, we needed something to make us happier, so we went to one of our favorites: Mickey's Philharmagic! This attraction is INCREDIBLE. I love everything about it. And their gift shop is pretty awesome!

I got this cozy blanket that's now on my bed. :lovestruc

DSC_0473.jpg

And this plate. Yes, I'm 14. Don't hate. It's adorable!

DSC_0472.jpg

And this shirt. Can't you just hear Donald saying "Where's my hat?!" :goodvibes

DSC_0474.jpg

Well, that's the end of our first day! Ta ta for now!

I have two of those Magic Kingdom plates here at my house for the girls. They do bring some happiness to a plain old meal. :thumbsup2

I like the throw and the shirt, too. Good choices on everything. That gift shop does have some different items, which is nice. ::yes::

We have not had great character luck at Crystal Palace a few times. It seems like they got a little mixed up about where they were when they finished a parade or brought out a 'fresh' character.

Looks like you guys had a successful first day! :thumbsup2

I have never stayed in the 60's section, despite countless trips to Pop! Do you know, are they all prefered rooms? If they are, that would explain it, since I never want to pay the extra for the preferred room. If not, well, maybe the CM at check in can just tell how much I love Oliver and Company, so they automatically put me in the 80's section.

Oh and I love your plate! I think its funny because I took a whole set of Disney plastic plates with me to college to use in my dorm room. The plates recently resurfaced in a box in my parents basement, and now my son uses them when we go home to my parents house.

YAY! Magic Kingdom... how did I not guess? I think that's pretty obvious when it comes to Disney parks to go to on the first day, but that's just me :teeth:

I'm sorry about your little AP debacle. At least you get APs and I think Donald is definitley a second choice to Mickey. :thumbsup2 And don't worry about forgetting to get a picture of the castle walking down Main Street, it makes it a bit harder touring with a camera out every second. LOL @ your AP discount question, I think I would go for buying Disney World with it

Oh, I love It's A Small World and I love looking at these pictures you took of the ride. It feels like I'm actually there. I love that last room with the ways of saying goodbye. When the ride gets backed up there, usually I just read those off, trying to figure out what language it is. Some of them I still can't pronounce though LOL

Oooo... the Briar Patch Gift Shop looks really cool. I've actually never been in there though I've been on Splash MANY times. The theming for the ride is just great. And yeah, Tower of Terror definitely stands in a category of it's own ::yes::

I'm sorry about your crying baby experience on Hall of Presidents. I'm surprised a CM didn't step in to say "Could you please take your son/daughter out? It's distracting the guests". Though I think it should be common sense for when your baby starts crying to take him or her out of the situation and figure out what's wrong then calm him/her down.

Love your pictures from the side of the castle, so pretty! Especially with the reflection in the water :goodvibes And your main street pictures are cool too. I should try to read off the names on the windows on my next trip.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience at Crystal Palace. I'm surprised the character interactions weren't that great. They took a lot of time to spend at my table when I was there and they did it with other tables. It may have been because it was on off-season :confused3 It may not be for everyone.

Oh, I love Mickey's PhilharMagic, such a fun attraction :goodvibes And I love the plate! I should totally get one.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Oh, you're close by! Awesome. :)
You can tell by my posts, but I obviously have the same problem as you. I try to take pictures the first time I ride so I can just enjoy the next time around.
Hall of Presidents is great. :thumbsup2 I also love The American Adventure over at Epcot! Yeah, I could have done without the crying.

I actually saw the plate first on one of your trip reports! :thumbsup2 Disney plates are the best. We have a set of 6 triangle ones for pizza, Mickey & Minnie shaped ones, a couple Rainforest Cafe ones and one from POTC.

The blanket is so cozy. :cloud9: We can never leave that gift shop without a bag!

Aww, I've noticed that too. It was so weird though, because last year character interaction was perfect!

Looks like you guys had a successful first day!

Good question! I was wondering the same about the 60's. I'll search stuff about that after I finish replying. The preferred room wasn't that much extra, I think $160 or something overall. My mom liked it because when we were in the 80s and 90s she'd have to juggle a tray of food and two mugs in the morning for breakfast. (I like to stay in bed for as long as possible. I think I went to the food court for breakfast once the whole trip. ) But then again, Pop isn't a huge resort so whatever section you're in, it's not too bad of a walk to the lobby!

It's adorable! They had a ton of merchandise with that design on it. We also got a place mat, not that we need it, but it was only 2 dollars so I can put it in my room or something. Like I posted above, love them Disney plates!

YAY! Magic Kingdom... how did I not guess? I think that's pretty obvious when it comes to Disney parks to go to on the first day, but that's just me

Haha, this was actually our first time going to MK right when we got there! We usually start with Epcot, but MK was fun to jump right into the heart of everything. :)

I'm sorry about your little AP debacle. At least you get APs and I think Donald is definitley a second choice to Mickey. And don't worry about forgetting to get a picture of the castle walking down Main Street, it makes it a bit harder touring with a camera out every second. Donald has definitely grown on me! :thumbsup2 Looking back, I have no idea why I got all upset. I'm just weird. :rolleyes1 It really does! I used to get lazy even when I had my little point and shoot, now the Nikon with the neck strap is even more fun to carry around. But for the pictures it takes, it's worth it! Haha that's a good one, you gotta think big! If that wasn't possible, one of them Golden Oak mansions would be very nice. ::yes::

Oh, I love It's A Small World and I love looking at these pictures you took of the ride. It feels like I'm actually there. I love that last room with the ways of saying goodbye. It made me feel like I was there too! When I was making the post, I actually found the ride on Youtube to make it feel more real. :cloud9: Oh how I miss Disney already!
 Oh my goodness, that's why we read all them too! That ride always gets backed up, but it's a nice chance to notice little details. The people on the boat were probably getting a kick outta my pronunciations.

Oooo... the Briar Patch Gift Shop looks really cool. I've actually never been in there though I've been on Splash MANY times. The theming for the ride is just great. And yeah, Tower of Terror definitely stands in a category of it's own

Splash is one of my all time favorites! I only went on it 3 times this trip though. One trip I remember I was on it at least 10 times! I just love everything about it. Have you ever seen Song of the South? You'd like it if you're a Splash fan. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry about your crying baby experience on Hall of Presidents. I'm surprised a CM didn't step in to say "Could you please take your son/daughter out? It's distracting the guests". Exactly! My mom & I thought they might have been no habla ingles.

Love your pictures from the side of the castle, so pretty! Especially with the reflection in the water :goodvibes And your main street pictures are cool too. I should try to read off the names on the windows on my next trip.

Thanks! Main Street, USA is so charming. I could spend a whole day there and not get bored. There's endless entertainment, yummy goodies from the bakery & confectionery, and it's just so upbeat!

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience at Crystal Palace. I'm surprised the character interactions weren't that great. They took a lot of time to spend at my table when I was there and they did it with other tables. It may have been because it was on off-season. It may not be for everyone.

Maybe it was the bunch of characters! Part of why we were so disappointed was because all of our other times there, the characters were perfect. That's great you guys had a good experience though! :goodvibes

Oh, I love Mickey's PhilharMagic, such a fun attraction. And I love the plate! I should totally get one.

You should. It's pretty awesome. :thumbsup2

Hey guys! You all probably know that my mom & I are going back to WDW for Thanksgiving, because it's in my ticker and signature and such. But I am VERY happy because we changed our plans around a bit!

Originally, we were going to be at Pop from 11/24-11/27 and check into the Polynesian that Sunday and stay until 12/3.

Well, I was on the AP site after we got back and I saw there was a 40% off code for deluxe resorts the time we were going. We already had a 40% PIN code, but I remembered that with the AP package, you can get a discounted dining plan! Such a good deal! This previous trip was our first on the plan and we thought it was GREAT!

But...there were no packages left for 11/27-12/3 at the Polynesian..

So I entered 11/26-12/3 and it worked! :yay:

Now, we get an extra day at the Poly! I'm very excited! I love that resort, we visited it a couple times this last trip and fell in love.

That's pretty much it! I'll probably update the TR later today. :goodvibes

That's awesome to hear you'll be staying longer at the Poly. It's such a great resort, I've really wanted to stay there. And what did you do about the POP reservation, they intersect so did you move it back or are you not going to POP at all?

Subbing!! I LOVE mom/daughter trips! My DD and I travel together. We just celebrated her 16th birthday in June with a WDW/DCL trip!

I love all your pictures! Can't wait to hear more.
