I still want to thank everyone for their help and walking me through the Orlando airport and ME process. Also, I was quite afraid of TSA procedures and you helped calm my nerves about it. In addition, I was concerned with the bus line situation for wheelchair access from park to resort. The gray area that still remains for how wheelchair and scooter people should wait still bugs me, but maybe it will become more clear eventually.

My mom is pretty sick and facing surgery. Some major decisions will be coming down today; I think. I think it will be all right; so, please, everyone say a prayer for her, if you believe,

I did have travel insurance; because, my mom is 90; so, I'm covered on that count.

I still remain optimistic about a future trip, but it has to take a back seat for now.

Sending lots of prayers and pixie dust.

You and your Mom will be in my prayers.

Bete- sending prayers for you and your Mom. Keep us posted on her upcoming surgery.---Kaathy

This situation started out as a UTI but it is now much more serious and critical. We are at a big hospital, now.

She has a peri aorta hiatal hernia in addition to her UTI. Of course, there are a few other issues, as well. I'll be making some serious decisions with her coming up. It's looking like I'm damned if I don't and I'm damned if I do. Her age is against her. I don't even know how I can write this to you all, but I feel somewhat connected to all of you like an extended family.

My heart is broken, right now. Please more prayers.

Bete, my prayers go out to you and to your mom. Both of you sure have a difficult time ahead of you. I hope that your mom can be made comfortable and pain free.

it is an hernia. We need to do a scope to determine what's going on and it's hard to get an IV to stay good for her for her to get the scope done.

The holiday hurt my mom with hospital staffing; because, the best staff to do the IV placement were not available (I think it's called PTI?). She has some issues in this regard.

I still need more prayers.

Sending good thoughts you and your mom's way! (I don't pray, but I will think of you and work on sending positive energy so that things go smoothly and with good answers.)

Bete, I will be thinking of you and your mom. One thing I learned during my mom's hospitalization... if there's an issue with getting an IV into your mom's veins, ask for them to get a pediatric phlebotomist, even a neonatal phlebotomist. These great folks are skilled at getting needles into infant's and baby's veins, and can work magic with the elderly, too. Good luck to you both.

You will need to weight the possible risks of whatever you decide to do against the benefits. Sometimes, things are quite clear because one decision will cause pain with very little gain. Sometimes things are much more cloudy and it is not clear what is the better course.
I am praying for clarity for you in your decisions.

Whatever you decide, there is no right or wrong answer.

are present; so, I need a lot more prayers, here.

A scope down her throat, EGD, will see the esophogas better and will hopefully be done on Monday.

There's an ultra sound and a scan that are pointing to carcinoma with her right kidney. This is unrelated to what's happening with her blockage on the esophagus. I'm scared, but I think there will be a lot more answers after Monday.

Bete, I am so sorry to hear your mom is ill. I will keep her in my prayers. :grouphug:

Bete, I am sending prayers for strength for both of you and healing for your mom.

Lots of prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

The so-called esophagus cancer is NOT! cancer after all. The EGD procedure discovered a food bolus which means there was a whole bunch of food stuck in her that wasn't going to the stomach creating a blockage and looking like a cancer mass. They removed the blockage and my mom is eating pureed food and doing well this day.

The other problem which is probable kidney cancer will be watched for further growth. She's at 3 cm for the tumor and supposedly it's not worrisome; until, it gets to be 5 cm or larger. We will be doing ultrasounds every six months to keep tabs on the size.

She's due to go to a rehab center near home. I think that will happen Friday.

My cousin who is a doctor and reviewing all of my mom's medical records as we went along never did think it was as bad as the doctors were saying pre-procedure; because, all the scans and ultrasounds were not very definitive all along.

I couldn't have a happier Christmas then this one coming. I think my mom has a good chance of being home for Christmas.

Thanks to all who had a little prayer for her.
