Well I tried on the Disney dresses...

This weekend I went to Solutions Bridal for the first Disney trunk show in the US. Well they were pretty...but just not enough I guess. Maybe it is just me but they didn't have the wow factor i was looking for. They would not allow me to take pictures unfortunately.

The fabrics were nice the blush color was awesome. A lot felt like gowns I might wear to an evening event but not to be my bridal gown. The tulle cinderella gown was very unflattering and poufy. The designer rep even said that it was meant to be more of a "PR piece" and didn't expect many "real" girls to wear it. I tried on mostly the cinderella, sleeping beauty, and belle dresses. A girl next to me was trying on the jasmine (you need to be really skinny since they are so clingy). I think they are still figuring out sizing because a one dress would fall off me and I couldn't squeeze into another that was the same size. I felt like I liked certain aspects of dresses but not the whole thing. One had big ugly straps and she said she could turn them into spaghetti straps for $75.

Pricing was another issue. The cheapest i tried on was the last sleeping beauty dress for $1200 there was nothing to it. I was trying on another for 2500 and 3600. I just feel the price is way too much for what you get. There is not that much detailing. I feel they just slap a disney tag on it and charge double.

They did however have pretty veils with the collections that were decently priced for under $300.

And a whole JEWELRY LINE! Tiaras earrings, ncecklaces, way beautiful and decently priced (i think the tiara was 165?) and supposedly they will go up in value because they will make so many and then destroy the mold.

And i got a tip that they will have shoes launching in the fall. I think Kirstie Kelley is working on more dresses right now too. Maybe they are taking input and changing some of the designs. I think a lot of people were disapointed. So maybe there will be some noticable difference when the next dresses come out.

By the way the bridesmaid dresses were about $300 a piece and really untraditional looking and I don't know how falttering they would be but do come in a lot of colors.

If anyone has more questions I'd be happy to answer the best I can. I'm sad that they didn't work out for me but I was glad to ahve the experience.

I am having a mermaid - fairytale/seashell theme wedding and I would LOVE if they have anything that's Ariel-like with seashells & rhinestones for jewelry or tiara.

I haven't been able to find anything yet

I know that the rep said that the jewelry and bridesmaid dresses had just been in a photo shoot so I'm sure that they eventually will be up on the website. I know most stores wont have the collection until late summer. There are a few more trunk shows though around the country until then posted on disneybridals.com. I just know that the pieces pick up the same stones/pearls/whatever to match the same ones on teh dress. For instance the cinderella tiara I'm goign to buy had diamond looking stones and it came it 3 different sizes. And then had dangly earrings to match. I'm not sure how different the jewelry was between each princess other than maybe slightly different stones.

Thanks for the review. Its too bad they wouldn't let you take pictures, I would have love to have seen some of the dresses on a real person. I'm sorry you were disappointed in the dresses. Good luck finding the perfect dress for you!
