Today is DH's birthday... I wanted to take him to lunch and a movie. I knew that he wanted to see 2 movies that are out now but ones that I was not too thrilled with seeing. I gave him the choice and he chose Inglorious Bast**ds (I don't think I can write the real title here!) It was the most boring movie ever!!!! I almost fell asleep 2 times and got a headache from reading all the subtitles. More than half the movie was in German or French.... When it ended I said "get me out of this theater!!!" :lmao: What a waste of 2 1/2 hours.

Interesting to hear another opinion of it. I happened to think it was great and kept me guessing the entire time.

Sorry you didn't like the movie. My son and I really enjoyed it. My son is the typical teen who loves big action movies, but this movie on had spurts of it. I was surprised that he loved it so much. He calls it one of the best movies that he's ever seen. It was slow in some parts, there's no doubt, but I'd call it one of Tarantino's best efforts!

Well, not sure if the mods would allow it but the filter shouldn't catch it since QT purposely spelled the word wrong... and last I heard, he wasn't saying why :confused3

Weird.

Can't stand Brad Pitt, so I have no intention of seeing it (especially after he trashed Valkyrie, which of course he is now denying.)

I don't know anyone who's seen it yet... interesting that you hated it. Did your hubby like it? What was his other choice?

sorry you didn't like.

It was a little slow in parts, but I enjoyed it (could have done without all the subtitles). I was surprised that it was laugh out loud funny in parts. My DH usually falls asleep in movies but lasted through this one. Oh yeah...I did have to close my eyes in parts too...I can't handle gore

Well I hope you did the right thing to make up for it! Birthday and all:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

I was going to go see it, but after hearing from more than a few people (who like the same genre of movies as I do) that they didn't like it..I knew I wouldn't either. Sorry you were so bored OP!!

I actually didn't hate it. The subtitles got a bit annoying after a while. I was surprised at how much of the French I actually picked up on. I guess high school French does stay in part of your brain after all!

After Death Proof(his half of Grindhouse) Inglourious Basterds is now one of my favorite Tarantino flicks. I think those 2 are his best work thus far!

Were you not aware of all of the subtitles going in? It has been well publicized that the movie uses a lot of those and knowing Taratino's movies, it really shouldn't be a surprise that it did.

Inglorious Bast*rds (spelled correctly) is the name of an Italian WWII movie about some American soldiers on their way to military prison in France. I think their train or something gets attacked (I saw this movie years and years and years ago under another name!) and they get away. They're headed for Switzerland and somehow wind up with the French Resistance and agree to some sort of mission for the Resistance. They're dodging American forces who want to arrest them as well as stealing this German something or other. It's a cheap, violent movie - very QT, actually.

I don't plan on seeing QT's Basterds until it shows up on DirecTV. Now I'm off to rewatch Kelly's Heroes or maybe that truly great prison break movie, Chicken Run.

DH did like it. He said he won't buy it on DVD, but it was a good movie. His other choice was District 9.

I did not know that there would be subtitles. I hadn't read a lot of reviews on it. I don't know. I guess I just don't like to read my movies. Call me lazy...

Oh my gosh, me too!!! I took french for 10 years and my mom was a French teacher. I loved when I knew what they were saying!
