trying to get an upgrade to DLH in the flash sale today! Spoke to two CM, first was lovely and said whilst she couldn't do it I should ask when I arrive at my hotel, as they may be able to sort something out - I said I was under the impression they only offered you the rack rate and she said "Well, you never know. It's best to ask!" and the 2nd CM was really miserable and I knew from the offset I would get absolutely nowhere with her! :sad2:

I really do think it is unfair that to upgrade you have to pay £1300, when a new booking can get the same thing for £582. We would have to pay £900 upgrade as opposed to £200. Surely, they would want your cash - and a paid upgrade at reduced rates is better than non at all?

Gutted to be honest! Going to try again tomorrow but not holding out much hope!

They don't care as they have your cash anyway and it's no doubt more hassle for them to do it for 200 than to do it for 900 as a upgrade

Can't you make a new booking getting the rate you want and cancel the other

Ok you'd pay 10% cancellation fee but you'd still be better off maybe ? :goodvibes

Nope - I would pay 75% cancellation fee! :-(

oh wow :scared1: Of course you are going this week :headache:

Try again first thing tomorrow morning, you'll get another team at the call center so might have more luck :goodvibes

Yeah, going to ring again there and the Central Reservations number in France too! Other people have managed to get the upgrade so I am so not going to give up! LOL!

Definately worth trying again tomorrow, I never thought it would happen for us but then got a totally delightful lady, so there are there! Good luck!

Thanks, you have inspired me to keep trying.

We are thinking now it may come down to us cancelling the trip if we can't upgrade to the DLH, as my dd has bowel problems, nothing major but lately it's been very difficult to be more than 5 minutes away from home as we have to rush her back home. If we were in a hotel more than 5 minutes away - we may find it quite hard, I didn't think this would be an issue til about 15 minutes ago when I got called upstairs again!

Oh I really hope it doesn't come to you having to cancel the trip. Keep going at it tomorrow on the number I gave you.
Hope DD is alright.

I also thought this especially as it seems DLP are struggling doing a flash sale for dates of the 20th celebration launch and giving tickets away through sky! It was an extra 250 for us which is still a bit too much! People that have got to upgrade are so lucky!

Good luck when you try again! Xx

Hi

Sorry to hear about not managing the upgrade - in the times I've rang DLRP with my two (plus upcoming trip), I've always found it is down to who you get on the phone! The last call I made the man was downright rude and had an awful attitude - I too knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with him!

Fingers x you get sorted. Bowel probs aside, as it is going to be sooo cold, the DLH would be a hugely better option for nipping in an out of the park.

I doubt they are struggling to fill rooms, its good publicity especially with the Easter break falling the same time the 20th anniversary begins & Sky will have bought the tickets from Disney to give away, albeit at a discounted rate due to the numbers they are purchasing

It would be a better option, however I was fine about the Cheyenne until she got "ill" (I don't know how else to describe it, she's not poorly, but she isn't right iykwim?) again tonight, now I have had a sudden realisation that we're going to have a nightmare if it continues!

I guess but still to be doing a flash sale must mean they have quiet a few empty rooms!

its a marketing ploy which DLP have been using for at least the last year or so, pretty successfully by the looks of things (they even inlcuded high summer season dates in a flash sale last year). They publish the full brochure price, everyone has a good laugh :rotfl:, and then a week after publication the offers start, then when a main booking period offer ends, a flash sale tends to come up.

Exactly, I managed to get a deal with the Flash sale last August which included the Bank holiday weekend. Room occupancy has been in the high 90's% range for the last few quarters:thumbsup2

They do seem to be the DFS of holidays. I wonder if there is anyone anywhere who has bought a full price DFS sofa then sat on it to book a full brochure price DLP holiday? ;)

I have tried about 6 times to upgrade, we go on thurs, last response I got today was upgrade price to NY hotel for £350 when the actual price in flash sale is £308. I give up, just unlucky. Not going to bother asking when we get there as won't be checking in until we have had dinner, and that will be late with 2 kids aswell. Just remember if I go back next year to book hotel in flash sale! Good luck to anyone who does get an upgrade.

If it's bowel issues, have you tried going to the doctor? - if it happens to be some kind of infection they can give you antibiotics that might be able to chase the bug off in a few days : )

All the same there's plenty bathrooms on the way to the parks. Believe the Village has quite a few you can pop into without it being too awkward. McDonalds, Earl of Sandwich, and Starbucks (I think...) have them. Also try cranberry juice, it's supposed to be a good natural cleanser of the system.

It would seem a shame to cancel the trip otherwise, hope some of this advice helps!
