Well, I Certainly Know I'm In Florida Now!

That is one reason why when my DH tells me he wants to retire to FL someday, I tell him that he's welcomed to do that with his next wife! There is no way I could live there due to the bugs. MI is a fine state to live in since they would freeze to death! ::yes::

Augh! In my 15 years down there, thank goodness I never had one ON me! Augh!

No, I believe the mosquito is the state bird of Virginia! They are HUGE!

Oh! You will find that those little lizards that get in the house are your friends...they like bugs!! And another friend is a can of hairspray. Sticks their wings together. :)

Ewwwwwwwwwww!

My first & only encounter with a live one was in our 2nd floor room at the Beach Club! :earseek: We had returned to our room mid-day for a quick break. When we entered the room, I walked to the sink area & there it was in a snack-size ziplock baggie I had on the counter that had cotton balls in it. I was looking at the leg side of it...all wiggling around. :earseek: Screamed!! DH comes to see.... I quickly zip up the baggie...and then there is a knock on the door. DH gets it. It was the maid. Kinda surprised we were there...and not knowing what to say or do. She hesitantly asked if maintenance had been here yet. And I asked her if it was for this ---as I held up the baggie.

She was so relieved. She said it flew at her as she was in the room. She left & called maintance. She even seemed afraid of it as I handed her the baggie to take with her. Maintance arrived a few minutes later. Told him it was gone.

I was squimmish for the remainder of the trip. Checking the bed, the drawers, the suitcase....... I was so afraid of taking one home with us. :earseek:

They said it could have come in from the towel cart as they are pushed outside....or from when the maid had the balcony door open.

FL --- nice place to vist....but don't think I could live there the more I learn of their creepy crawly things.

Yeah, I would have been crying hysterically. I've been crawled on before and it is so not fun.

I once had one fly in my bedroom window. It came right at me as I was sitting in bed and since I was backed into a corner the only thing I could do was fling the covers over myself. I felt it bounce off my back a few times before screaming for my brother to get it away from me. To which he replied "I don't see it." It crawled down beside my bed and I made a break for it, running light speed into the living room. Making sure I shut the door to my room in case it decided to follow me.

I've lived here my whole life and I'll never get used to them.

Squish that thing! Ick!

I'm pretty proud of myself. I didn't get too hysterical. I'm sure I was doing a pretty interesting dance. By the time I got him out from under my shirt, he was pretty damaged. I just got a broom and dustpan to scoop him up and then I threw him outside. I guess I'm lucky he fell out when he did. We don't have curtains up yet. A few seconds more and the contstruction workers building the house next door would have gotten a show as I ripped my shirt off!
