Welcome All to my Pre Trip Report!!
As you can see by the title we were not entirely sure when we will be making the magical trek back to Disney World but we have finally made a decision, AUGUST 2017!!!
This trip is 10 months from now but I decided to start my PTR now so I don’t forget anything in all the craziness.
So first let me introduce everyone.
Lauren (ME!!) 28.
Times to Disney World: I don’t remember how many times when I was little but from what I can remember, 7
Favorite Park: Epcot
Favorite Ride: It was Maelstrom. Now it’s Spaceship Earth
Favorite Restaurant: Ohana’s for Breakfast
Favorite Disney Characters: Moana, Stitch, and Steamboat Willy
DH 36.
Times to Disney World: 4
Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom
Favorite Ride: Peter Pan
Favorite Restaurant: Artist Point
Favorite Disney Characters: Peter Pan and Goofy
DD 3 (4 when we get there)
Times to Disney World: Once when she was 1 ½.
Favorite Disney Characters: Rapunzel and Minnie Mouse
There is the potential for others to join in but for now it’s just the three of us.
DH and I are both Service Members that are stationed in Germany. We have been in Germany for 2 ½ years and will be here for another 3 ½ years. This trip was planned as part of a bigger vacation back to America to see our families.
We had initially planned on going in April to take advantage of the nice weather and the Dark Side Half Marathon. We started looking at hotels using our DVC points. I wanted to stay at an Epcot hotel, particularly The Boardwalk Inn. However, they were almost completely out of studio rooms and the ones that they did have were charging way more points than we wanted to spend. So we changed our sights. Next I wanted to stay at a monorail hotel. But DH made the argument that we should stay somewhere "MAGICAL" for DD. So we narrowed it down to our home resort of Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge. With this in mind I booked a safari room at Animal Kingdom Lodge from April 20th to 27th.
About a month after we book this my cousin got engaged! She decided to have the wedding at the end of July and wanted DD and I to be in the wedding. We knew it would be way too expensive to travel from Germany to the East Coast twice in one year. So we decided to change the date to around the wedding.
DH doesn’t like heat or crowds so I knew that this would be a difficult decision to make. We normally do our Disney trips between January and April to take advantage of the cool weather and low crowds. With this in mind I immediately decided against going before the wedding in July. The heat and the crowds would just be too much for all of us. Plus I don’t want to be in the wedding with any extra “Disney Weight”. So I decided to check for after the wedding.
I checked around the various Disney blog sites to see if there was a certain time in August that would be best to go and was surprised to find that the crowds tend to drop a good bit the third week in August. I was soon on the DVC site and had a Safari view booked for August 12th – 18th!!
