Looks like rain the whole time I'm down in Orlando, May 15-18. Do all the rides still run in the rain??

Its only gone rain in the afternoon time.Typical Florida weather.
Most of the Studios side attractions are inside!!:thumbsup2

Like stated earlier, the Studios side is mostly inside. So they keep going. At IOA they will shut down all outdoor rides when lightning is happening. If its just rain they'll keep going. But the afternoon Florida weather comes with lightning. It dont last longer then a hour or two most of the time..:thumbsup2

Sorry they are calling for rain but this area is extremely dry and we need all the rain we can get. The rides still operate in the rain but as Donald stated...most of the attractions at the Studios are indoors so the weather shouldn't be an issue. The rides only close if lightning is detected within a five mile radius of the park.

Florida weather forecasters don't have to change their charts much. Pretty much every day in Spring and Summer gets a thunderstorm icon.

Usually it just means a quick shower sometime in the afternoon. Otherwise, it will be clear and sunny.

The only time we had a total washout was during a trip when Florida got brushed by a hurricane.

Outdoor rides will continue to operate in the rain, but not in lightning.

Find an indoor attraction and wait it out, or join the masses in ponchos and brave the storm.

That is absolutely correct. It rains almost every single day in FL during the Spring and Summer. It's usually around 2 or 3:00 PM everyday for just a few minutes.

I'll have raincoats and panchos in hand. I'm not scared of the rain, I paid for my trip so I'm going to do everything rain or shine.

We're the opposite here. Its rained so much here, the ground can't hold anymore water. It rains aalllllllllll the time lately. It will be hot and dry in another month though, and we'll be begging for rain.

We rode Hulk in a light rain one time...it was like riding a motorcycle in the rain - it felt like we were riding through needles! Ouch!

As Donald , Metro and Phamton said it usually rains just a few mins a day this time of year and not much to worry about cause we have been there plenty of times when they had thunderstorms and usually wait till they pass and then hit the outdoor rides :thumbsup2

Just hit IOA in the morning and go to Universal Studios in the afternoon. IOA has the most outside rides. Most of the rides at Universal Studios are inside.

Great advice! As stated previously, Florida's weather in spring summer always calls for possible rain. The quick afternoon thunderstorms often offer a bit of a reprieve on the heat ( for about 10 minutes!).

My wife and I went to Silver Dollar City a few years ago and it started to rain while we were there. If you sat on the front row it was painful to ride. If you sat anywhere else you got shielded and it wasn't too bad.

I did not realize the weather forecasters for Orlando were more accurate that those elsewhere in the world.:rotfl2:

Looks like bwfoster was right about being worried. Florida did and continues to have torrential rains. I hope your trip was OK anyway.

Yup...I got a mega downpour this morning around 10:30 and it's been raining at the house now for a couple of hours. :sad2:
