Welcoming all opinions - is Alaska the time for a veranda?

We will be booking onboard in about 35 days!!! WOOOOO HOOOO but besides that, we have had verandas before and love them(probably not worth the cost, but we enjoyed every second of it no matter how much it costs per minute of use), but are now going with the more cruises theory of inside staterooms. Is Alaska one place that you think it is maybe more worth the upgrade? I have decided we will not do a window, just not enough less money, but with the impression that you can see land most of the trip, the whole reason to go there for us is the scenery.

On that note, if you do get the veranda, would you suggest starboard or port? I assume going north the view is better from starboard (right) and does the ship go slow enough on the way back to enjoy port, or is it like most of the caribbean cruises, once you get there, the coming back is in the middle of the night and considerably faster?

I seem to have put this in the wrong category, mods, if too wrong, please move, or I can repost.

Wrong thread or not ... get a Verandah room for Alaska. We did and it was just amazing.

We did too. It was so worth it!!

We did as well and it was so worth it! There isn't a bad side for Alaska if you ask me!!!

Agree with others, It is well worth it. Just please bring warm clothes for enjoying your veranda. When we went it was windy for the Tracy Arm segment and we were freezing. We pulled the blanket off the bed! Made for a great cozy moment with DH. Ordered in some hot tea and we were set!!

Finally seeing a few more pictures, does most of the cruise have scenery on both sides, like throught he passages? I just assume (yes I know) that part of it is in open ocean getting there, but once there, either side great?
