We did it! We just purchased a contract at SSR through Disney and now we are members.

I cannot believe we did it! We aren't time share people. We drive old cars, save for a rainy day, etc... On the surface it seems so frivilous, but I keep thinking about our little girl (dd3) and the awsome vacations we can share over the years, bringing the grandparents, etc...

I am still taking deep breaths over the large purchase we just made, but I cannot wait til we go "home" for our first vacation in February to celebrate dd's 4th birthday.

Thank you to everyone here for the tremendous amount of information available here. I read all your posts, and have learned so much here. If I didn't have access to this site, I'm not sure we would have gone this route. Thanks everyone!

We went thru the same thing. As we were signing the papers my wife and I looked at each other and at the same instant said "are we REALLY doing this?"
We are very careful with our money and it can be viewed as an extravagance, but when we made our first trip home to OKW we knew it was right for us.

My DH and I know what you mean If it weren't for our determined saving, we would not have DVC even now. The only way for us to justify it was to purchase with savings. I am working very hard to replace that money we spent. Nevertheless, we are soooo proud of our DVC purchase! I have never regretted the purchase yet and it has been a whole year

I know what you mean it is a very big purchase but well worth it. My DW, DS and DD live just over the river from you. We have a 4 y/o ds and an 18 month dd. The trips are great and the kids have so much fun they always look forward to the next trip home. My ds always says daddy when are we going to our home in disney. Well welcome home and enjoy you wont regret the purchase

Welcome Home! I understand how you're feeling right now. Buying into DVC is probably the most extravagant thing I've ever done for myself. As of now, my teenager and I are enjoying our trips (naturally with a buddy along with us). But I'm also looking forward to many more solo trips in my future as well. Enjoy!!
