Apparently, everyone is lost in dreams of visiting my fair state. I shouldn't have been such an unfair distraction. :)

Y'all can post again. ;)

And Karen, I am NOT playing croquet with you!

good afternoon gang!

Sorry I didn't visit this morning!! I raced out of the house to go work out and then went straight to bowling! I should not have bowled so many games last week...cuz this week I sucked big time!! hehehe

So I'm home now, getting ready to work in the yard, or should I say the jungle that is my back yard!!

Gotta go check the news and see if we get to keep our master Jet base. The vote was this morning, so keep your fingers crossed...we can't lose this much business!!

later,
tara

Lost in dreams with anything dealing with you... you are joking, right?????

Tara, sorry that your bowling wasn't the best it could've been. Master Jet base? I probably should google to see if I can find it, but whatever that's about... best of luck to y'all!

Howdy Bethie!

No, I'm not playing croquet with you--you'd just try to whack me on the head with the mallet.

Hi all =) just wanted to stop in and say hi =)

Work has been pretty busy this week >_< although the days are going by pretty quickly so that is good :) Also... there is a Developers Conference at the Dophin in Oct that I am trying to convince my bosses they should send me too... I think it is pretty doubtful but that would be great if it happened :D The conference would actually be very good for me to go to because of alot of new stuff they are going to be doing classes on... so I am kinda hoping it will :) Then I would get to go to the Halloween party yey!~

Anyway... gotta run for now =) Hope everyone is doing well

First time today I've been able to pop in. The boys started school today, and I started watching the neighbor's DD for a couple hours 2-3 times a week. I also am watching Julian's friend for an hour each morning and he'll get on the bus at our bus stop all year. It was a crazy morning.

My SIL is being induced on Friday. :bounce: My nephew was due on Sept. 8, but since her fluid is low and the baby doesn't have much room to move, they are inducing her. So, if all goes well, my nephew should be here Friday.

 to all.

Hey All

Busy Busy day. Seems Ms Storm has decided to become something other than a tropical depression and we are now looking at a Cat 1 hurricane headed at us. Had to do some fun stuff with the work schedule today, found out they have closed school tomorrow and Friday, had to call my boss to ask if I could bring the kids into work tomorrow until we get off work, went to open house for my youngest, then off to the store to get some supplies. We didnt need much but eeeeeeek what an experience. Its a MAD HOUSE! There is no bread and water is basically all but gone. Everyone is going bonkynuts. I would hate to see what would happen if this was a much larger storm. I mean all we will really get is a lot of rain and wind. Only reason I got some supplies is should our power go out, which it is known to do if a dog sneezes, and we need to eat some non refrig stuff. I would like to open the fridge as little as possible as to not put a strain on the generator. I am tired to beat the band tonight.

Sorry this is an EOIP but I am wiped and I need to get to sleep. I will checkin tomorrow after I get home from work.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

JRKaren, of course he would try to whack you... he's a meanie brat ;)

Jon, that would be so cool if you could go to the conference there! I bet you could have a blast (and the Dolphin is a great place to go)

Sherry, glad you could pop in! Sounds like you are very busy!!!! Best wishes to your SIL with the baby... keep us posted on how she did.

Karen, good luck with everything! Hopefully the storm won't be bad, looks like it shouldn't gain too much strength even at Cat 1. Kind of shocked that it is such a madhouse though... but good luck.

I should read through some reviews/menus for WDW, but Luis is up here so now I have to go.

Hello from St. Louis. I have been flying a bunch this week for business and I thought I would drop by from my hotel room high on the 8th floor of the Hampton Inn on Market Street in downtown St. Louis.

Yesterday I was in Canada. I am just racking up those (in)frequent flyer miles. I volunteered to be bumped from my flight today at the promise of a $500 flight voucher from Continental, but unfortunately they did not need my seat. I had a December trip to WDW in mind for that voucher.

My biggest concern about flying since I broke my ankle last year was whether or not the titanium rod in my leg would set off the metal detector at the airport. So far, not a peep. I'll bet the metal detectors at the Orlando airport detect the rod.

Tomorrow is the first day of school for my kids. The last first day of school for my oldest. And here I am in St. Louis. I hope that Sue takes lots of pictures.

Gotta get some shuteye. Tomorrow I'm off to interview another hospital about what they like and dislike about our products.

To everyone in Florida. Stay safe. I mean it!!!

Uh oh. Towncrier killed the thread this time! Page 3 again! Is Towncrier in cahoots with Alan?

Well considering that was the nightime, and no one here works all night or lives across the ocean, I'll forgive him...

heck it's just that he isn't Alan, so that makes it better!

John, safe travels to you, sorry that you have to miss the final first day of school though. Kind of stinks. But hopefully you can at least get a trip out of it sometime soon ;)

Lazy this morning. For whatever reason I couldn't fall asleep last night... oh well, and Luis needs me to cut the grass... can I wish for rain?? :p

Good morning Y'all-Y'alls

Let's hope the thread keeps moving, even if I do say hello. :)

If it were me and Towncrier..I suspect it is a man thing.

Good morning gang,

Elaine..the Master Jet Base is a Naval Air Station that houses lots and lots of planes. It is our biggest employer (I think) in the area. Not to mention all the other people it brings in with the military folks. †he problem is they want to close it because people complain about the noise (well, duh the noise was there when you bought the house!) and then the navy doesn't like all the development around the base (city council's not too smart!) Anyway, if they take our base we will lose a huge chunk of our economy and our town will go down the drain.

The decsision was to keep the base but the BRAC said that the city has to condemn or relocate housing areas if we want to kee4p the base. Then if we do all of this they MAY let the base stay for a few more years! UGH! So we will now be waiting to see what the city council decides and what, if anything, the courts will decide!

Anyway, not much new here. Worked out in the jungle of a back yard that I have and got it cut, but now I have to go out and rake it and cut it shorter. It was so tall I had to cut it on the highest setting and now I need to cut it again! oy vey, I hate yard work!

I'll check back periodically and make sure none of the men folk have killed the thread todday!

Morning all,

Post monster ate my post last night.

Ed got his letter from the post office. He's out right now doing the drug test/physical thingie. IIRC, the last time he did this, he started training within two weeks. Cross your fingers. I told him go get a 'want fries with that?' job temporarily to cover gas and groceries. It's probably take a month for him to get back to the "OMG, this guy is good...give him six days", so something is better than nothing!

I got my transfer to the store closest to my house. Starting Sunday, I have a ten minute drive, as opposed to the hour it takes if I don't go mid day.

Karen, hang in there. My sister called me this morning and said "so I heard Katrina and the Waves are appearing near you". Hope all goes well, doesn't look like it'll go beyond a tropical storm. I was looking at the noaa website on sunday and there was NOTHING out there, and now it looks like we've got a couple to keep an eye on. Yep, I'm a weather junkie.

My sister is flying in tonight to visit mom. Yep, I'm being the good daughter and going to pick her up.

Tara, I rented an apartment near hog farms when I first moved to Maryland. I knew they were there, figured I could deal with the smell. Then, the huge houses went up across the pasture and those people started complaining to the county commissioners that they needed to condemn the hog farm because it was smelly. Stupid people, the hog farm was there when you decided to build your mansion!

I'm off to see if the mailman has a check from Nati-I doubt it!

Exactly!!!! You mean to tell me you didn't hear those 90dB planes flying over head when you were touring all of these great houses?????? I just want to smack these people upside the head with an idiot stick!!! dumbasses!!!

The planes fly right by my school all day long. It often requires teachers to stop for a sec to let the thing go by and then they can keep going. We are all used to it so we just ignore it. But I'll tell you the scariest thing was on Sept. 12, 2001. There was not a plane in the sky that day. i think they scrambled them all off the base and sent them else where. The silence around my school was deafening and it made it us all really nervous. We were never so glad to see / hear those jets when they returned!!!

In other news: Congrats Suzanne on your transfer. So does this make you SM or ASM(new local)? Tell Ed. I would like Fries and a shake while he waits for his Postal gig to get all straight!! I'll keep him in business!!

Okay, so I haven't even begun to head to the back yard to work on the grass. I think I'll search the dis a little more and see if I can stall for a while longer!! hehehe

Good luck with Katrina and the Waves!! heheh :rotfl:

Tara,

Still an ASM. I feel like I'll always be a bridesmaid in this district. Ironically enough, if I'd stayed in Maryland, I would have had my own store-an SM quit the week I left! This time next year, my new location will be the highest volume store, though ;) .

I know what you mean about that noise. Living so close to DC and working 5 minutes from Dulles airport, that was a fixture. Then all the jets were grounded, but the fighter jets were circling Camp David all the time, and as a result, over my house!

Okay, gotta get ready for work. Nice, short day today...I work four hours since I stretched on Tuesday. And I have an errand or two to do beforehand.

Tara we are awaiting BRAC decisions as well.

***lazy quote from local news*****************

A computer systems management at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base could be moved to a base near Boston. If approved, Maxwell would lose more than 1,200 jobs -- 740 military and 511 civilian.

*************************************************

If those jobs all go to Mass. we will have a glut of IT people around here and lose a sizeable chunk of the economy. They have moved the religious training course that was taught here to VA.

Good luck to you all too Alan! you wonder why they can't just leave stuff alone!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all!!

Okay, now I feel really silly, I didn't realize that was a base... say no more. We have 2000 jobs on the line in one place here too... they even built the new facility thinking htey could expand, and now they want to shut it down
Good luck to all waiting on the list.

Suzanne, glad you got your transfer, and thinking good thoughts for Ed. Tell him to bring me home a milkshake soon... thanks :teeth:

tired... mowing really takes a lot out of me
