Hi everyone. I have been busy trying to get our SBC DSL to work. Finally got it going. I have a question though and hope someone can help. We had AOL before this and I was told that for $7.95 a month to AOL I could keep my email address and my favorites. The email pops up find but I can't figure out how to get my favorites to work. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this before. Have I lost my favorites for good? Hope not.

This is driving me mad... I am never seeing when there is a new post here :(

Susan, no idea on the AOL thing... never used them before so no clue how it would be set up

I just heard that we are keeping the program here which means some of my friends keep their jobs and don't have to move!

Yeah Alan!!! That is wonderful news for you all!!

Elaine...good luck on your bases also!!

How are our FLA friends doing? Karen, have you lost power yet?

Sherry, I meant to mention in one of hte last 3 posts of mine, that I saw your SIL will be induced on Friday. Good luck to her!!!

Okay, getting ready to go bowling. It is our last night of the thursday league :( We are going out to dinner afterwards! So don't wait up for me!! hehehe

Glad to hear the good news there Alan! I just checked and our news said the big one will be saved!!! We have 277 jobs in other bases that will be lost or moved way out of state. There was a lot of shuffling, but at least with those it seems the jobs will be close to where they used to be... provided what I read is right. So not near as bad as what we thought it could be.

Tara, enjoy the bowling, sorry it's the last night.

Been kind of emotionally punky since I've been sick... so going to get ice cream for dinner to help :teeth:

Hi Ya Yas!

Tara, hope you enjoy your last game tonight.

Elaine, come out of those depths! It's sunny out here!
:sunny:
Alan, great news for you. I know we are worried here over the gov't financing jobs. I haven't heard the decision however.

Susan, can't help you with the AOL either. As soon as we got cable, I dumped the AOL. I just copied all my stuff, but I think I did it manually. Don't remember. Tyr on the CB, maybe someone knows.

Suzanne, good news for you and DH. Hope his process is quick and glad you have a shortened ridel. I love it that I work closer to home. Of course I take a pay cut for the privilege.

TC, sorry you missed the last first day. Hope your travels remain safe and is good. Is there a Yankee Peddler meet in the works?

Jon, so hope your request comes in for the Dolphin. What a great opportunity.

Sherry, another baby in the family? Whoa, seems like you are oh so busy now that school started. I thought you would be having a break.

Beth, Hi!

JR Karen, thanks for all those saves.

Ummm, sorry, I am running out of matter. I can't remember what else I should respond to. Love ya mean it to all...

Hey All,

Gotta make this quck before the line start sparking again and we lose power. We are getting hit hard and furious but doing okay. We are taking the brunt of it now. Dh had to go out and mess with our swing because it was begining to make its way off the porch. Dh went out before it got dark and our neighbor who passed aways shed is now in our yard. Messed up our fence but dh pushed it back into place. Now we will have a shed to clean up tomorrow. There is a tree in the back that used to be in our neighbors yard....his fence used to be on our property, but when he moved it we didnt realize about the tree. Well its tangled in the power lines and it keeps making them spark and arc. Guess whats coming down when the storm is over. Well Im gonna post this before I lose it yet again.

Yea on the non closures of the bases. I will keep my fingers crossed for you too Tara that you get good news about yours.

HUGS TO ALL!! :grouphug:

What a freaking night. UGH. Not only did we have to deal with this storm but we almost got a visit. We are all camped out in the living room because the kids were scared the power would go out. My youngest has not slept yet. All of a sudden around 3:50 my cell phone starts going off. At first I thought it was a misdialed call so I didnt answer it. Then I heard the flip top close on it and told my youngest to quit messing with the phone. The third time it rang I picked it up and basically yelled at the person on the phone to quit calling at this hour of the night. Ummmmmm it was the police. Apparently my youngest had been dialing 911 and not saying anything, just closing the pbone so they were calling back to make sure everything was okay. Thankfully I answered it the last time and talked to the guy or we would have had the police over here. Just what they need to be doing in a storm. I am so mad at my youngest it isnt funny. He KNOWS better. We have talked about not calling 911 unless its an emergency. We talked with him about it because my eldest did it when he was a lot younger than my youngest is now and we were trying to avoid it happenening. It has been a very long day and night. I just looked over and guess who is now sound asleep. I guess its time for me to finally get some sleep.

Morning all... I admit I don't have much to say...

Lily, I am glad to see you pop in though. Did you ever get your computer all fixed up right? I know it was very sunny yesterday, but after cutting grass, I don't think I want to be perky and out in it :p

Karen, glad you made it through the night... sorry about all that went on though. This sounds awful, but Luis and I have a tree that we want to come down. I told him the next big storm we get, I want to find a way to push it over so that it will land in teh street and we won't have to deal with it ourselves :p
Evil, I know

Not sure what I will do today... have a good one all!

Morning All,

Well to go outside now you would never know we had anything happen yesterday and last night. Its just a bit overcast, no rain and no wind. Although we also have no cable either. I think we are just going to take it easy and stay in today. We have no idea of how much tree damage and debis is around. None of us, except dh who can sleep through an atom bomb, got much sleep anyway. Dh got a call from his boss. He doesnt have to come in today but does on Saturday and possibly Sunday. Sunday will have to be after church because he will not miss church plus he is the only one who knows how to run the AV stuff for Kidz Church.

We just went outside for a bit and our new neighbor two houses down came over to tell us about the sparking wires last night. We have to get FPL out here as soon as the major work around the area is finished to cut the limbs that are in the wires. Dh can then take the tree down with the chainsaw. From what dh said, I havent been back there yet, our neighbors shed is on its roof in our backyard. That is going to be fun to move back into his yard.

Well I think Im gonna go lay back down for a bit. The kids are still sleeping so its quiet.

Morning all.

Karen, hope you get the rest-I know the howling winds make sleep near impossible! Yikes on younger son calling 911.

We've got sunny skies here-looks like Katrina has veered further west out into the gulf than expected. As it looks right now, we might get a rain band or two. And I thought my theory about the storms names was going to be sent packing by Katrina.

today's the deadline for the landlord, lets see if she bothered to send me a check. Off to the PO box in a few. I'm pretty sure this lady is STOOOOPIDDDDDD and will be paying another 600 bucks. If it goes to small claims (and at this point, it sure looks that way), she has to pay all court costs and the court will rule to garnish her rent. Sheriff shows up at rental property with notification to the tenant that rent is payable to ME until her debt is satisfied. Then, I contact tax collector about the fact that she's getting a homestead exemption when she's not living in the house! Can ya tell that you don't get Suzanne mad?

Off to get Ed's driver's license and drop off his fingerprints to the post office. Supposedly, when he drops this off, he's told when the next training class starts and he'll be part of it. He's in a hurry to do this today, in case the next class is starting Monday. Please, some prayers and pixie dust.

Not on the level of a Tara or Liz story, but read my coffee snob thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=896011

Speaking of which, Indigo is calling me today-they're on the way to the post office we have to drop off Ed's paperwork.

Hi y'all and bye y'all

I'm about to leave to go to a Promise Keeper's rally in Mobile. I haven't attended one in several years though I do try to go to other local men's conferences.

Frankly, I'm not looking forward to this trip but hopefully my mood will improve.

Let's face it, I'm already the idea Christian husband and father; this is only a waste of time.

Just this morning I yelled at my oldest daughter, was late for work, cussed at a bad driver, and ummm..

Maybe I need to go after all :teeth:

Y'all have a great weekend and wish us luck Monday morning trying to make reservations for CRT - right Lainey?????

Suzanne killed the thread this time!

I'm making more saves than an NHL goalie this year!

Nothing as far as I know. I am having a tougher than usual time getting hold of extra guess passes for this year's festival. Still lots of work to get prepared for opening day on September 10th. I hope to score some additional guest passes after the first weekend, so if anyone is interested in setting up an official meet, the 2nd or 3rd weekend would work better for me.

I had a very long day in the St. Louis airport yesterday. My two travelling companions decided to get to the airport early to see if we could get on an earlier flight home. Well, the two of them managed to get the last two seats on the noon flight. I sat in the airport for over 4 hours waiting for my scheduled flight. Ugh. A huge thunderstorm blew through St. Lou and delayed all arriving and departing flights. It was a LONG day. As it turns out, the seat next to me was unsold, so I should have had a little extra legroom. But an older lady who spoke very little english ended up sitting in the wrong seat. The one next to me. So the guy in the row behind me got the extra legroom. Oh well. At least I was home by 8PM.

Did I mention my $42 cab ride? The one from the airport to the hotel? I found out that the St. Louis MetroLink runs directly from the airport to within 3 blocks of my hotel. For $1.75. The company will reimburse me for my cab fare, but I wish that I would have known about the cheaper method to get from the airport to Market Street. Sigh.

Hopefully the weekend will go better. :)

Uh oh. Towncrier killed the thread this time! Page 3 again! Is Towncrier in cahoots with Alan?

Karen

I was NOT in Cahoots. I was in St. Louis. Didn't you read my thread???

Okay I've just done a stupid thing and started arguing with someone who is apparently both misinformed as well as closed minded... I should either bike or clean or something, yet I am waiting to see if they can prove themselves wrong.

So... I won't comment on anything Alan's said becuase I'll be too mushy ;)

John, sorry about the no leg room and that cab fare... that's quite a lot!

Making one last look and hten I am going to bike... get rid of some of my frustration

Suzanne, going to read your thread later on... I have it opened for reading when I have more free time :)

Elaine, All I can think of is "Please don't feed the trolls!" :teeth: Back away from the trolls, walk into the light!

Karen, glad you are all ok there. Sorry about DS and the phone.

Maybe I'll need to go thread hunting, but not now.

It wasn't leg room that was lacking on that commuter jet. My seatmate had a wider seat than me and she was encroaching on my half (not to mention the half dozen times that she elbowed me). It's good to be home.

Been super busy. Wanted to pop in and say hi real quick. Getting ready to head out with the boys. We are going bowling with the Youth/Young Adults from church. Should be fun.

 to all.
