Nancy - any cookies this week??

Hopefully I can fit that in tomorrow.
I was going to do it today and then the dentist's office called and told me I had an appointment......my card said tomorrow.
so they didn't get their cookies this time and are going to blame their receptionist for messing it up for them :rotfl:

Sorry about the test, JRKaren. Hope all comes out alright.

Sunny and low 60's again here :sunny: Very odd.

Tara, hope you get a hooky day soon with no kids.....need to send them off somewhere.

Alan...sounds like a dog with personality :teeth:

Boards are still running slow for me...

but that's my dad's fave cake too, Paula! So hopefully if there are left overs, he'll keep them (I just don't need them)

Nancy, I'd love your weather. I don't think we got much above the low 40s today. Thank goodness for heat!

Went to our favorite Chinese place and now going to watch TV together. In case I don't check in again, have a nice night all!

Me and my issues checking in. :)

Dang. Took notes, but can't read them. Good grief! Who wrote this chicken scratch? What the heck is "sniety"?

Okay what I can read and/or remember is...

Yay for A+ on papers and meds working for Chris and Hi to RM and safe travels to you!! Also...Thinking of you (JRKaren) as you wait for results and other Karen as you recover from Wilma. Suzanne, prayers for mom and hoping she is settled and comfortable.

Skipping sniety on my list, because I still don't know what that is...

Labradoodles! I love that name! Thinking of Mrs. AA as she's away from her loved ones and learning new and wonderful things and saying a prayer for Mr. AA as he does the bachelor thing!

I'm sorry to hear about the bus collisions Tara. :(

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to PAM!! Okay not really. Just wanted to say that. Good excuse to eat chocolate or something. Go for it!

I come up with my best dumb ideas while lying awake at night!! :cool1:

Names. Uh oh. I think I'm one of the hold outs that still call you Elaine.

Cake! Hooky days! Cookies! NASCAR! No scratch that. I'm not into NASCAR.

Hmm. Guess I'm done now.

.

Me too ::yes::

What kind of cookies should I make tomorrow?
I need to run errands too, so they can't be too complicated.

I got a rewards statement for a credit card....some are about to run out....and I don't know what card it is

Quick hi... going to shut down now... we are watching animal planet and just enjoyed hearing about the 10 laziest animals :teeth:

Kimmie, does Cam take notes for you or something? :p

Nancy, you could just do a standard oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip kind of cookie. Not inventive, but not hard and always loved by most everyone!

I never noticed that you both still call me Elaine. Not that it matters... I really go by it and introduce myself as such. I think in the last year or two Lainey has grown by leaps and bounds among other friends. Really, for the longest time, only a couple people ever called me that.
Otherwise it was El or Ellie...
kind of odd, I do see myself as Lainey more than the others, though Elaine is always perfect. That is what Luis calls me almost always :)

Enjoy the evening all!

Evening gang,

Not long to play, gotta migraine brewing something fierce!

But I do need some yaya help.

First, if I get a gift card from Blockbuster, do you know if the recipent can use it for their blockbuster online? (i'm too lazy to search)

Second, for those of you who get stuck inside due to weather, can you tell me what kinds of snacks you like to have when you are curled up on the couch under the blanket? I want to give my bf a gift basket for christmas with a blockbuster card and a bunch of stuff for sitting around the house when there is snow on the ground. Since she is newly single, I thought she might enjoy something like that for Christmas. So any suggestions would be great.

Okay, stomach is beginning to show signs of bad migraine coming....I'm going to hit the drugs and go to bed. Have a good night all!!
tara

I call Elaine Elaine. That's how she was introduced to me two years ago :)

Not sure about the Blockbuster thing, Tara, but I would think so.
But the basket....chocolate :) popcorn, soup, hot chocolate, pretzels, nuts, crackers

time to fix dinner

Alan, sounds like a perfect dog, perfect name and hope all is going wonderfully.

Tara, hope you feel better.

Kimmie, I didn't take notes so I am flying on my own here. Won't do as good as you did.

Karen, glad that part is over. PD that all is fine and you don't need to wait forever for those results. Haven't been to view your trip reports yet. May have to wait til the morrow.

Eliane, I was thinking of oatmeal cookies too.

Nancy,
-------------------
Lucy’s Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup firmly packed light or dark brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups quick or regular oats
1/3 cup evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
1 tsp. vinegar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. iodized salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. cloves
1 cup raisins rinsed in hot water and drained
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

In large mixer bowl cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in oats and combined milk and vinegar.

Stir well the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves and blend with the first mixture adding raisins and nuts when it is well mixed. Drop by rounded teaspoon on lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until done. Remove from baking sheet immediately and cool on racks. Store in airtight container. Makes about 5 dozen.
-------------------

...and finally for those who could use a good laugh and haven't seen this yet:
Good belly laugh found here.

Is this shep? :confused3

Tiara,
I don't know about the Blockbuster card (no Blockbusters around us - hey, I keep tellin' ya I live in the sticks!!) but I would guess that they would work online.

For the basket: Fancy flavored hot chocolate, briscotti (Did I spell that right?), kettle corn microwaveale popcorn, maybe a pair of comfy and warm socks or slippers, I second Nany's suggestion of CHOCOLATE, fancy crackers.

Paula - How did Chris's day go at school? I think you may be right about the meds. And yay to Alyssa on the A+ !!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Kim - I see your issues and raise you 10 stresses! ;) When does Cam get his driving permit??

JRKaren - glad your tests continue to come back negative - but I feel for you in not knowing what is wrong. :guilty:

Nancy - I will take 1 doz. white chocolate macademia nut cookes, 1 doz. chocolate chip, 2 doz. Peanut butter/Hershey kisses, and 3 doz. raisin cookies, please! :love2:

I am slowly catching up on my work. But I still have a lot to crank out.

Hoping for :sunny: and  days for all!

Morning all! Chilly morning again... and I will have to take Cleo to the vet too... that ought to be fun :p

Tara, I agree with the soups, chips, pretzels, popcorn, nuts... all that. I would also throw in a few bottles of water or non-carbinated beverage as well as hot chocolate or tea. I tried to look up Blockbuster and all they said was the GC are redeemable at the stores. Might want to call them and find out.

Hmmm... maybe I should introduce myself as Elaine, but then say you can call me whatever you feel like :p

Lily, that sounds like a yummy recipe!! Speaking of which, I might do the cakes early today before I even make it to the vet. That would be nice to get that out of the way today!
Oh and that link was funny :teeth:

LOL, nice one MJ! :wave2:

Oh Pam that was a good idea about warm fuzzies for the feet! I know my dad is getting a pair of warm fuzzy slippers for Christmas. he just wears loafers around the house when it is chillier.

I guess it is cake time for me... but before you go, I'd check out the Jellyrolls thread on the meet board... looks like Beth has been busy ;)
Wish I could go to that one, but I really can't hack smoke in enclosed places at all anymore :(

Morning, all.

About to head off to work in a few. It's been very nice to have the time off, but now real life intrudes.

Hospice is really nice. They've been great with Mom. Now it's a waiting game.

I'll keep you all posted.

Suzanne

I can't believe I missed this one:

Haha - Alan - I suspect you are right - because my dog would sadly only qualify for that list on Animal Planet.....

Nancy...have I given you my recipe for carrot cake cookies??
Elaine....I'm thinking up a new name for you..... :teeth: - good luck at the vets.
Tara - love the idea of the gift basket - I like the flavored popcorn idea - also mugs, glasses, funky socks??
Pam- chris is going on a field trip today to a Technical College- I'll let you know what he thinks of it.
Suzanne- sending continued prayers and good thoughts your way.
Kim....ignore the note - must have been a pen malfunction :earboy2:

Looking thru patterns today for something to paint......

More later....
