Morning JRKaren
Morning Sherry
Amanda those s'mores are making me hungry
Elaine I agree planning for someone else is just as fun as planning for yourself. I'm very excited about my scrapbooking trip! :)
Suzanne have fun running errands today
Hiya Kimmar
Paula hope you feel better soon. Try to find a scrapbooking consultant in your area and go to a crop night. I'm sure they'll help you figure it all out.
:rotfl: Alan

Now I have a question for all of you moms and dads. How did you know when you were ready to first become a parent?? I'm having a major dilemma and need insight on how to know that I'm really ready for everything that comes along with being a parent.

*crawls out from under rock*

Hiya, Ya Yas. :wave2:

Sorry to have been MIA again. I haven't really been on the DIS at all this week (just brief stop ins) so I can't even claim to have been lurking properly. Just a lot of real life stuff getting in the way, plus a semi-quest to stay away from the computer a bit... although I still turn it on and leave it so I can hear the hum. How sad is that? :rotfl:

I started hearing from grad schools this week. Well, a little bit anyway. And some of the news hasn't been .. bad.. as much as it is annoying. (i.e. umm yeah, we cashed your application fee, but we can't find your application .. sigh). But I did have the opportunity to be a Yale prof's willing serve... er ... student on the phone a few days ago, so any pixie dust you have to send him. ;)

Nancy told me something about a Ya Ya exchange. That sounds really fun.. might have to look into that.

I haven't had time to go back and read thoroughly, so I will offer :hug:s to those who need 'em, :cheer2: to those who need 'em and ... um ... this guy because he's cute.

Hope y'all have a great Thursday. :sunny:

Good morning.

Spend to much time talking to someone this morning ;)
Now no time to ketchup....be back later....gotta go pay for that carpet :rolleyes;

:wave2:

Well Im not sure Im not sure I can answer that question since my pg with Michael was a surpise. I wasnt ready at the time, just 21 and didnt want to have kids for a few years but Michael had other plans, lol. That said we just fell right into after he was born. I loved having him and he was such a great baby. I think for most of us those motherhood instincts just come out once you have that sweet little baby.
But it sounds like you guys are probably ready. You can provide for the baby and it sounds like you are ready to add to your family.

Kristy, I'm not sure if this will be helpful to you at all, but I would have to say that if your heart is leading both of you that direction, then there's a good chance that you are ready to share your life with a little one. :) I doubt there is ever a way to know that we are 100% ready. In fact... we aren't. :) None of us are. But, the wonderful thing is...you will have been learning along with your child, and when the various situations arise, remember... you've been growing right with them and will be much better equipped to handle things than you might think at this point. :) Also, love, prayer and perseverance are powerful tools! You'll be a great mommy!

Kristy...this is what happened with us. I was going to teach so there were only certan months I could get pg to deliver during summer break. DH and I had agreed on when, but when the time came I don't think he was ready. He agreed anyway. It didn't happen. Months later he says he's ready, I'm not ready...but try anyway since I was afraid he would change his mind. Got pg shortly after the decision. Best decision we ever made, besides marrying each other.;)

Kimmie...here is the website the glasses were on.

http://www.giftapolis.com/noname15.html

Caroline....good to see you back and glad you decided to join the exchange.
Good luck with all that grad school stuff.

Kristy.....if you both want to ...do it.
We had it all planned out ...time wise.
I loved having children. I feel it was what I was meant to do.

Christin is here....gotta go....more later

Afternoon, all!

The best way to get a kid to do his math homework is by letting him count out his word problem with conversation hearts. I'm hoping he shares the yellow ones. I didn't get any this year, which is a surprise.

My laptop bag arrived :cool1: . I'm styling with Mickey now :cool1:

Yay, he gave me the yellow ones!

Kristy, Ed and I were ready emotionally before the practical end (wanted the divorce that the ex stalled overwith before we tried). Neil was a happy surprise, though. That said, if you're questioning whether you're ready, that usually means you are. Being a parent is constantly questioning yourself if you're doing the right thing!!

Glad that others want those checks...as soon as I saw them, I thought of my sistahs.

Errands have not been run, we have yet to hear back from Neil's doctor! I did go out for lunch-horrible service. I decided to check out the Home Shopping Channel outlet since I was alone...only thing I saw in the whole place was a 7 1/2 foot tree that was pre lit. The one in the box was red and white lights. Oh well! I did see some stuff that I think other yaya's might like, like a scrapbooking messenger bag for a scrapping system I think they sell on HSN. It was cute.

Kevin's got a violin recital tonight. Promised the boys we'd get ice cream afterwards. Kevin's buddy in his class invited us over for dinner saturday night, and Kev thinks it's today, lol! Apparently, he's done this all week, since his buddy's mom talked to Ed on Monday.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get a stubborn kid to learn his letters? I bought the "They Might Be Giants" DVD that just came out. He says it's too hard, but the teacher goes on about how smart he is. Thinking I'm gonna take him for an eye exam. After that, probably for an eval for ADD!

anywho, gotta get these kids bathed for kevin's debut on the violin!

His first recital? Good luck, Kevin; you'll do great!

I was going to say good morning, but I'm afraid it's too late for that now! Got all tied up in PMs and phone calls yesterday and never managed to actually post. But I was keeping up with ya'll!!

Been turrible busy again today........hope to have some time tonight to ketchup!

Mad, mad love to all!!! :grouphug:

Afternoon all... spent a lot of time chatting with someone via PM this morning ;)and so I decided that I would be good and not post this afternoon!

didn't stop me from lurking :p

Amanda, let's just say I happen to love S'Mores and peeps... and well... when you have an inquiring mind like mine, you do silly things. Wax paper, marshmallows & microwaves is a great combination... just don't ask for the peeps pics... I think we got rid of them ::yes::

Howdy Rose Mary!!!

LOL, Kimmar! I'd love a check like that too!! However make sure you put a nice number that isn't a zero before all of them too ;)

Paula, I didn't realize you were that bad!!! Ignoring the valentine's candy!!! I do hope that you will feel much better soon!

Deena, I got the same prince as you!!!

Suzanne, those mugs sound so cute!! I will have to look at them in a few months.

Alan, ya twit... no Daisy Duke auditions for you... strange southern men
:duck:

Shots Kimmie? Well I could do milk, lemonade, oooh I know WATER!!!!! Yeah, not a partier am I? :p But they are cute and I do have a collection of some good OSU shot glasses.

Kristy, are you going with any friends on your convention?? As for kids... well guess what department we are in ;) I was told by many that they never knew when it was right... that it just happened. I think that will be what needs to happen for us :p We seem to be moving slow on that one otherwise.

Caroline, always love it when you stop in! Good luck with the college apps and all that! I am sure you will do great :)

Oh and good luck to Kevin tonight!!!!!

:wave2: Hi Bethie!!!

Calling Liz....brownies and cookies going out the door.

Today is my brother's birthday. Getting ready to go to his house. The girls will have pizza, ice cream cake, cookies and brownies.

Suzanne...Cassie is just now down to the last 4 she needs to learn. We started working on a letter a week. What I found that is best for her is to pick a letter and have a write it and say it each day, a page worth. The next day, before she write the letter, I will ask her if she remembers. If not I ask her to go through the alphabet. This seems to really help her. Usually once she gets to the letter she will remember it. After a while she doesn't need to go through the alphabet. I didn't think she would ever learn them.

Gotta go! Have a great evening everyone!

Hey All,

Well I heard from the doctor and Im not exactly happy about it. Ummm it was his suggestion that I see a therapist about my stress and my smoking. Like HELLO do the test results mean nothing???? I got a copy of the results so I know what they say. I told him in no uncertain terms that that is NOT going to help with sleeping because the sleeping has nothing to do with being upset or stressed. All I think about when I wake up is....damn Im awake again. No worry or stress at all. He agreed to try me on oxygen at night to see if we can bring up my oxgen sats at night and maybe I wont wake up. He also tried to blame my messed up REM sleep patterns on the Adderall I take for my ADHD. Ummmm something taken at 6 AM is not going to effect me at 12 midnight and besides that this was going on WELL before I went on that. Maybe my REM sleep is screwed up because Im AWAKE SIX TIMES A NIGHT???? Im just frustrated. At least he did agree to giving the oxygen a try. They will be delivering it to my office tomorrow at Noon

Suzanne how we got both of ours to learn the alphabet was to write a letter and try and get them to copy it on the chalkboard we had. Then we would come up with words that started with that letter. We also used the Dr. Seuss Alphabet book and that worked well too. It not only teaches them to recognize capital letters but also lower case letters too. I cant tell you how many times I have read that book over the years. I think I can probably quote it verbatim LOL.

Kristy you never really KNOW when you are ready. If the feelings and stirrings are there you probably are. Parenting is a lot of trial and error and unfortunately these little squiggly kiddos dont come with instructions. You Im sure will do fine as a momma. Each child is very unique too. I thought I had it going on when I had my second. Thought I had it pretty figured out. Ummmmm he is NOTHING like my first and what worked with my first does not work with him LOL. Back to square one. You learn as you go. A good piece of advice I was given was....A mothers instinct is 99.9 percent of the time always right.

Stacy Im sorry to see you go. Please stop by now and again and let us know how you are.

Hugs and love to all I didnt mention. I gotta go start din din now as the guys just got back from Bball practice. I will be back laters.

Amanda did you save any cookies for me? :teeth:

Karen, I hate to tell you this, but it could be that your doctor is right. My dad went through a myraid of tests at one point when he wasn't sleeping and it was stress... but not stress he really ever thought about. They were worried about many things (heart included) and he was put on a mild depressant and got back in a better sleep cycle. Considering that ADHD meds do make one hyper, they could be having a negative effect on your sleep... so if what you on isn't right for you, it could be having the opposite effect. Not a nurse or a doctor here... just a daughter who had to watch her dad go through a hell of a lot after my mom died.

So you know this is said with love... but good luck with everything... hopefully between you and the doctors, they can help you out! And always, go get a 2nd opinion too just to make sure. Good luck

Back from choir... we were awful tonight... as in behavior... sometimes I wonder why Eric puts up with us :p BUt it was fun as always ::yes::

Hi All.....another busy day doing nothing if that makes any sense. Job hunting is sure a lot of work these days. It may be paying off....I have a few interviews planned over the next week......wish me luck!

Karen,
You may not like what I have to say, but I REALLY think it is time you LISTENED to what the doctor is telling you. He is a professional......taught to help people....not to hurt them. You have been here often lately with MANY stress issues. Of course they do affect how you are going to react.....react to eating, smoking, behaviours and even sleep. Your body is telling you that you need help. Please get the help that you and your body needs. There are people that want to help you, you just have to want to be helped. Find out where the problems lie.....who knows, maybe you have a chemical imbalance that meds may help. Maybe you just need someone to listen to you to help you sort things out to find some balance. Give it a try... an honest try, and you may be very surprized as to what you find. I hope you are able to get the help that you need. Life can be a wonderful experiance, if you let it.

Amanda, Greg said you should come on over!! I second the motion!! I am soooo jonesin for something sweet.....and oh what a cookie and a brownie could do to me right about now!!

Lainey, glad you found some time to check in :wave2: Chatting can often be so much fun...and of course the time seems to just fly. Hope you had a nice chat.

Morning Bethie!!! :p

Alan, did ya ever find Daisy? How goes the costuming? Been walking lately? :cool1:

Suzanne, how was the recital? Hope you had a great time! I just love going to the kid's recitals. They are just too cute. Ashley and Amanda have the cutest dance recitals...the teeny tiny little girls just crack me up. They are too cute!! Say and do the darndest things.... I am sure there are some cute ones with violins too!!!

Nancy was chatty today too? :rotfl: How was your visit with Christin? How did she fair at the camp job? Nice to have her close to home...but far enough away huh? I LOVE Lily's scrapping outfit too!! Very cute!! And she is oh so talented.

Caroline, good to see you!! Hope things aren't too crazy. There was a package put in the mail the other day....be on the lookout!! Good luck with all that grad school stuff!! That sounds like picking a school could be a tuff decision!!

Kimmie, Kimmar.... :wave2: how are things on the coasts.......there I did it.....and got them both right!! :rotfl:

Kristy, AWWWWW are you thinking baby thoughts? I hope you find the answer you need. That does sound like an awfully big question to answer. Looks like Dakota got the best of you  I think you would be a great mommy!!!! Go for it!!! My only advice would be to think about finishing school first....but that is just me.....and I am not a mommy!!

Deena had a surprize baby? I would have never thunk it!!! Was this the same baby made that oh so precioius Valentine for you? That was very sweet! Gotta love those special gifts. Keepers for sure!! How is the weather in Texas? I am really quite over this cold we are having here!!

RoseMary, speaking of weather.....I am still waiting for that call!!! Sure hope you are having some :sunny: days out your way!! Hope that :sunny: finds a way to warm your heart......speaking of which....more details about that :moped: (Please DO NOT translate that as dude on moped!!) :rotfl:

Pammy, sorry you are having more of the blues!!! Maybe this will help...   or :grouphug: or some talk of roadkill and a good thaw might help!! Hope you are feeling better soon. Hate those church problems....why do people have to be so ugly? Big hugs to you!!!

Tara, where are you hiding these days? Hope school is going well and that you have not caught that nasty flu!!! Stay well!!!

JRKaren, are you all ready for your trip? That is coming up so quick!! Texas will NEVER be the same. :earseek:

Sherry, so what do you have planned for you vacation? A nice Princess Breakfast? :teeth: Ya know ya got to call exactly at 90 days out! Do tell all your plans so that I may live vicariously....please!!

Lily, what is up with you? I see you are on teh exercise band wagon again!! Feels great doesn't it!! I am hoping that I will make it to the Disney 1/2 marathon next year. Keep your fingers crossed. You were such a HUGE inspiration to me even thinking I would do a half somewhere!! Maybe you will come to Chicago for the CDC in August!! I might even have Amanda talked into that one too!! :goodvibes

Tina, good to see you check in......how are things in sunny Arizonia? Any more Disney trips planned for you soon? Hope so!! I would LOVE a nice few days in the World!!

TC, how are things with you these days? You seem to be MIA!!! Stop in and say hey just so we know you haven't fallen on any more ice!! I took a good spill last week....it left a mark, but I think I will live!!

Paula, feeling better yet? Hope so!! Hide your candy.......I may eat it!!! I mmade Greg take his box of See's and put it somewhere I can't find it.....think I will go and look in the garage :rotfl2:

Well, I am gonna go and chill for a bit before I call it a night!! Just wanted to check in and say a quick :wave2: to all!!

Night all.....have a great evening!!

Hi again :)

Thank you all for the words of wisdom, advice, and support!!! It's greatly appreciated. We have decided to meet with a doctor on health details/pre-natal stuff...and then go from there :) :cloud9: If all goes well...we may be expecting by the middle to the end of the year...ya never know.

Have to go do other stuff around here...but I'll check in again tomorrow and ketchup.

:grouphug:

Quiet night here.

Yeah...what Liz said ;)

Christin just left. She has an interview tomorrow....or at least a call to get an interview..hopefully.
Good luck with your job hunting Liz. I hope something comes along for you soon.

:wave2: everyone.

Started the laundry tonight so that I know the comforter I am washing *will* be dry for Dave on Sat. I am so happy he is only here one night. I love Dave to death, but I love *my* time more ;)

Liz had good words too there... and I wanted to say that I know ADHD meds help to "calm" the person who is that way, but on a non AD(H)D person, the meds will make you hyper... so I was thinking if the dose was wrong or something, maybe it is messing with the sleep.

I should hush... this is the lady who hasn't had more than 5 decent nights sleep since the holidays... and I wonder why I was stress eating this week :rolleyes1

I kind of blew off work today, I'll probably pay for it tomorrow... oh well :p

Kristy, good luck with the doc!!! I know since Luis and I are rather undecided at the moment, I am just told to take Folic acid in a vitamin daily (just in case). Been taking it for years now :p But good luck with the doc and I would love to hear good knews from you later this year!

Nancy, it's Survivor night... ya think people will leave their TVs? ;) However best of luck to Christin tomorrow.

I need to do a couple more things with cleaning tonight, and the rest I want to do tomorrow & Sat morning. I am behind by a day on some reading I always do, so I want to catch up on that as well. I may or may not check back in again. So in case not, catch y'all tomorrow!
