Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

QOTD - I used to work there, so hundreds! But I didn't really "get it" until DH and I went with dd when she was 4 - wow! DDs almost 11 now (an "adult" at WDW - ugh) and she's been ove 20 times. Of course it helps that my parents live in Orlando and she and I stay with them a few weeks each summer in addition to our WDW vacations.:thumbsup2

An update on my parents: my mom is finally doing better and is in a rehab center, my dad will be going in for surgery to have his stomach removed in a few weeks. Great news in that the cancer has not spread from his stomach. They've asked me to come down (they are in Orlando, I'm in Indy) to help so I'll be seeing how that will work with my job, DH, and DD. Side question - dd is in 5th grade, I'm thinking I'd like to take her with me. My parents are mid-late 70s. What do you guys think? Am I being emotional?

This weeks cow will be great for me too. Love the partridge in a pear tree method. :)

Glad things are going somewhat better for your family. As to taking your dd, my concern would be that it sounds like you really are going to have be the caregiver while you are there. How is she going to feel about shuttling between the rehab center, hosptial, doctor's offices etc? Generally most kids start out with good intentions, but I used to see them at the hospitals I worked at and they would be going stir crazy after a few days! (Plus there's the school issue) Good luck whatever you decide!

I am up half a pound. Not bad after the week from "eat anything in sight" LOL!

Forgot the "question of the day" Umm... Too many times to count. Seriously way too many, I don't have a clue!

QOTD -- What's for dinner tonight?
Quiche and fruit last night, and tonight again. (i'm a day late):)

I have not been to a meeting since early December..and my weight shows! I am planning on going next Thursday morning, we had a delay at school today so I could not make today's meeting.

What is the "COW" I keep reading about?
The cow is the challenge of the week, and raenstorm just posted it for this week. Each week she adds a healthy challenge to add to the past week. Little things that add up and can make a difference.

COW Week 2 Scores

Our numbers are dwindling a little bit, but we are still going strong. 4 people drank their water and ate their veggies every day this week!. Way to go! :cheer2:
12 others were nearly there.

I would like to congratulate, Debbie, donac, jimmduck and Tammy NC for being perfectly on track for two weeks in a row!

A very funny member (you know who your are) suggest V8 for the veggies. Great suggestion! :thumbsup2
Whoo hoo!! congratulations you perfect cow followers!! Great job. This week, I'll at least remember to pm raenstoirm my totals.

 Christa - i have been there too :guilty: one thing I have taken from my WISH friends is to let those choices/reactions go. bye-bye now :wave2: they are in the past and have no bearing on your present or future. you get in your zone and then you fly...I have seen you do this and I know you have it inside to do it again. this journey is hilly, the ups and downs are just being real...if we could decide we wanted to be thinner/stronger/healthier and then it just happened. well we wouldn't be here, in fact WISH wouldn't exist. right?

today is my last day of coaching this week....it's been an honor :thumbsup2 i'm passing the torch to a trusted BL friend... ::yes::
This was so nicely said, and so true for all of us. Thanks Ohmom for coaching this week, and for journalling with me. I got up and got a snack last night, and almost didn't write it down, but then thought of you.

Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

HAve a great day.
I've been 6 times total, 3 before I had my son, and 3 with him. I didn't fall in love with the place until my first trip with him about 2 years ago, and now I don't want to go any place else. Each trip has been amazing.

Thanks dona for being our coach this week!!:cheer2:

I had a great week weight loss - down 5.2 pounds. That has to be read with a caveat though - I was up last Friday due to Pizza Hut and weight gain (water retention had a lot to do with it I'm sure!). Still I'm excited - I needed those numbers! So I'm down a total of 8.4 over the 4 weeks we've been doing this.:cheer2:

An update on my parents: my mom is finally doing better and is in a rehab center, my dad will be going in for surgery to have his stomach removed in a few weeks. Great news in that the cancer has not spread from his stomach. They've asked me to come down (they are in Orlando, I'm in Indy) to help so I'll be seeing how that will work with my job, DH, and DD. Side question - dd is in 5th grade, I'm thinking I'd like to take her with me. My parents are mid-late 70s. What do you guys think? Am I being emotional? :)
Congrats on your awesome loss!! I think if your daughter will be ok out of school, it would be nice for you to have here there with you. It is such an emotional and stressful thing when your parents are ill, and your daughter will be a nice distraction for you too. She's old enough that she'd be able to help them out too, and that would be good for all of you. Glad your mom is better, and that your dads cancer hasn't spread. Good luck and prayers are with you.

I am happy to be down 1.2 pounds this week.

Congrats to all the losers, and hugs to those who maintain or gain this week. Hang in there. We can do it!!:cheer2:

I was down 1 lbs. this week (so 13 lbs. for this so far), which was very nice, after I weighed in Sunday and saw I was up several pounds already for the week.

QOTD - I've been to WDW 8 times now (DL once). I went once when I was in high school, and really only liked Epcot and MGM. Then DW and I went for our 5th anniversary, and the following summer one of my brothers got married there. I finally "got it" when we went with our first son when he was about 22 months. It's amazing how your views change with a child, those first 3 trips, I probably spent 2 - 2.5 days at MK total, now it's that much each trip, and usually more.

:coffee: good morning fellow losers! CONGRATS to everyone that has posted/succeed in a loss this week! :cool1:

myself, i forgot to WI! this is 2 weeks in a row  snow days are killing my routine, but i will first thing tomorrow morning

mikamah --:thanks: to you for journaling with me! i'm glad our pact helped you, it definately helped me. last night i so wanted a glass of wine and talked myself through it (will it really taste THAT good? will you regret it after it's gone? ) and i'm proud to say i just went upstairs without one. it's the small successes that take us towards our goal

QOTD -- i have been to WDW five times and we are planning a June trip for the summer.

my girls are off again today, am i'm determined to stay organized in my day and get the house cleaned, with their help of course!

 jennz but it's great to hear good news on the medical front. about your question taking DD with you....how long? will it be hard for her to see her grandparents in such a state? how busy will you be taking care of your parents? i.e.....are you running the house totally (laundry, meals, shopping, cleaning) or just there to help out?

Down 4.8 this week. I really wanted that 5 pounder, but this will have to do. I did my usual get up, go to the bathroom, get on the scale and I actually got back on the pot to try and squeeze out that .2, but my bladder would not cooperate!

Raenstoirm,

I think I may have reported incorrectly last week. I've been listing each thing separately, and reporting how many days I did each one, individually. It sounds like what you're asking for is the number of days in which (for this week), we drank the water, ate the veggies, and walked. Is that correct?

TIA

You are perfect! I want each goal listed out just like you are doing.

Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

Hmmmm,
1986, 1996, 1998, 2007 and April 2009

So 4 with one planned
On that note, we cant decided which other restaurant to eat at in Epcot (we already have Le Cellier booked during the trip). Which is your favorite?

I'm down .6 pounds and I am a-okay with that :). That puts me a little off of my main goal but here's hoping that I'll lose a little more than a pound next week :cool1:.

I have been using my pedometer and I have to say that 10,000 steps really seems like a LOT to me.

I have maintained this week, which is VERY good because I actually went up in the middle of the week and then came back down to be able to report a maintain! Now onward and downward!

today is my last day of coaching this week....it's been an honor :thumbsup2 i'm passing the torch to a trusted BL friend... ::yes::

thanks Molli for a fantastic week of coaching!:thumbsup2 And welcome Dona! I know it will be another great week!:goodvibes
Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

I have been to WDW 6 times, and DCL 2 times: once when I was little, 4 times with the family, 1 time with my DD, and we've been on both the Magic and Wonder. And depending on the economy... we are planning our first ever trip to Disneyland!

Hi everyone - I've been MIA from the board but the key words are still "in action." When I've wanted to have chips for lunch I've had salad instead to get those darn veggies in - always a struggle for me. When I've wanted a diet coke I've had water instead, and one day I was at 4600 steps so I walked around the house to break 5000. This has really stuck in my head and I have to say huge thank yous!i

Great job on the weight loss and sticking to the plan! finding a way to beat the 5000 steps!:cheer2: You are on a roll! As far as your DD goes, I guess I would wonder how long she would be out of school, and how it might affect her to see her grandparents sick, and not feeling well. Talk to her, DH, and follow your heart. Hugs to you.:grouphug:

QOTD - I used to work there, so hundreds! But I didn't really "get it" until DH and I went with dd when she was 4 - wow! DDs almost 11 now (an "adult" at WDW - ugh) and she's been ove 20 times. Of course it helps that my parents live in Orlando and she and I stay with them a few weeks each summer in addition to our WDW vacations.:thumbsup2

You LUCKY duck! I would love to work there! When did you work there and what did you do?

Question of the Day
How many times have you been to Disney World?

I'll give this one a try. Lots, LOL! We bought into DVC in 1997 and have averaged 2-3 visits per year. So, somewhere between 20 and 30 trips. We were taking more trips when my DD was in preschool but backed off to two trips now that she's in school. We usually go in late August for her birthday and then again for New Year's Eve.

Ok everyone - Confession time.

I gained 3 pounds this week. I only have myself to blame. I'm owning it though and after I write this e-mail I am moving on. I've stepped on the scale today. I've Pm'd my gain to dare2dream. I've eaten a good breakfast that I will go log onto sparkpeople as soon as I write this e-mail. I've acknowledge and owned it - time to move on.

So I fell off the wagon hard - I had small binge last Friday, and while it really wasn't that bad it started my head in the wrong direction. I had pre-PMS symptoms last weekend where I was feeling sort of down a little. So I ate to try to stop that feeling. Then Sunday it got worse. We had a cheer competition that day. I woke up late by accident, so I didn't get to eat a proper breakfast before I left. The girls on the cheer squad have been bickering lately. I think there is a lot of stress from the parents and coaches about the trip to Florida. Our school district is struggling financially (how do you get 4.8 million dollars over budget by mid school year???) and a lot of things our squad and other teams are losing - like busing to events, busing to the airport when we go to Florida, they are not paying for the 2nd coach to go. So all of these things are now falling on the parents shoulders. Parents are complaining. The girls aren't getting along and things have been escalating for a few weeks. Moral amoungts the girls is not good. The girls fell apart during their routine on Sunday. It started out really good.....and then BAM. They just lost it and lost it fast. After that some of the girls continued their not so nice attitudes - and in the end the squad looked bad no only on the mat - but off. Talk about stress. By this time, I was getting a headache and starving..........all that was there was junk so I had a hotdog - and I really hate eating hotdogs.

Ok - i'll post more later - meeting

Hi everyone,

I'm down 1.1 this week. I was really hoping for more because I have done better this week w/eating and exercise than I have in quite a while.

My biggest problem is the weekends. I always end up gaining and spending the week trying to lose it. I did better last weekend, but was still up 2lbs by Monday.

Congrats to everyone and have a great weekend!!!

Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

I have been to Disney World 5 times, my first time was at 14, second time at 20, the last 3 have been over the last 3 years with my children, they have, by far been the best trips and some of the greatest memories.

I forgot, I just joined on Wed, I am down .2 lbs, I'll call that shaving my legs and clipping my nails. :rotfl2:

COW Week 4

Ok, we have survived another week!

This week you need to….

Drink 8 cups of water a day
Eat 3 servings of veggies a day
Walk 5,000 steps a day ~about 2.5 miles depending on your stride (the goal is 10,000 a day ~5 miles, but we will start slow. If you make 10,000 by all means let me know! I am officially upping this to 10,000 next week so be prepared)
Eat two servings of fruit a day

Here is a refresher of the COW rules in case you are new or forgot. I will post a new COW sometime every Thursday. Each challenge week begins 12:01 am Friday morning and runs till midnight Thursday night. I figure posting the COW on Thursday gives you a little time to “plan” out how best to complete the challenge before the clock starts. Please email or PM me your score by Monday morning of the following week. (So tomorrow’s challenge score is “due” the 9th, although I recommend you pm or email it to me on Friday when you email Brenda your weight.)
If you chose not to do the COWs at all, or only get around to doing a few items on the list that is perfectly fine. The idea is to get you thinking and doing new things on this road to a new you, not to stress you out.

So here is how this version will work. Every Thursday I will post a new task to add to the previous tasks. This should help you establish good habits during this BL. I got this idea from the 12 days of Christmas song actually. So,

Week 1 all you need is the partridge and the pear tree
Week 2 you will need the turtle doves and the partridge
Week 3 you need the French Hens, turtle doves and partridge
And it goes on

Ok I got the COW now. I am going to dig out my old pedometer and see if I can get my steps in for today. Hopefully I can get to 5000.

Next question.....can someone give me a multi-quote for dummies lesson? I know how but havent' done it in so long that I forgot.

Welcome hhartill to the group

Congrats to those who stayed the same wofiedoodles, PrincessVija

For those who gained this is what MelanieC had to say today.

Ok everyone - Confession time.

It is the time to make a U-turn as they say in the book "You on a Diet" There is nothing wrong with an occasional U-turn. Realize that you need one and take it. Right then and there. Don't stop just do it.

jennz I don't know about taking dd to Florida. Your dad is going to be tough to be around. I don't know how it is done these days. My dad had it done years ago for an ulcer. I know when my dh had hernia surgery he was no fun to be around.

How is everyone doing on the COW so far today. I have eaten 2 pieces of fruit and 1 serving of veggies. I am going to drink some water and add to my 2000 steps I have taken so far today. The other day I had 9500 step by the time I went to bed. I just wish I could remember why I was moving so much. Weekend are tough to get in the extra steps because I usually spend those days quilting.

QOTD I have been to DL once on my honeymoon almost 31 years ago. I have been to DW with my family 12 times and once with just my twin sister.

HAve a great day. Keep pluggin along. WE can do it.

Surely I'm not the only one thinking this - that this:

I actually got back on the pot to try and squeeze out that .2, but my bladder would not cooperate!

would make a great tag for Raenstoirm? I laughed out loud when I read that!

LOL! I see people every week at WW lining up at the bathroom to try to reduce their weight a teensy bit! Wish it worked!!

I guess 1.1 is the number this week as that is what I'm down as well.

I'm REALLY sore today! I did 2 new videos yesterday. WATP 3 fast miles and then the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga. That one HURT!!!!!!!!!Good, but painful!!

Have a wonderful, CONTROLLED EATING, weekend everyone!!
