Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hi all,
Someone invited me to join so I did. I have seen the thread but did not know what it was until I was challenged, so thanks for sharing.
Welcome aboard Dave! There are a couple other men on board too so you're not alone :).

Welcome Dave!

I stayed the same this week.

The weekends are my downfall. I am going to the movies and instead of buying popcorn we are going to pop some at home and take it with us.

I am also going to actually do my exercising tonight! I got a talking to from my Wii Fitness coach last night for not being consistent:rotfl2: I also need to get in my walking tomorrow. I only have about 8 wks until I am doing a 5K and I need to be more prepared than I am now.

Have a great weekend!!

I'm sorry I haven't been around. I spent my birthday drowning my sorrows (turned 50 :crazy2: ) and then last week was just crazy.

Congrats to everyone who is losing and even those who aren't. As long as you are here and haven't given up you're still a winner!

I have lost. Sadly I had put some weight on over the holidays so I have a bit of a way to go before I am back where I was when the last challenge ended. I also need to start exercising again which I haven't done yet.

simpilotswife, Happy Belated Birthday!

 I'm happy to report a loss of 2.8lbs this week, for a grand total of 6lbs. An average of 2lbs a week was my aim, so I'm very happy. I've reached my first small goal of 5lb loss and doing my belt up 1 notch tighter, so this weekend when I buy groceries, I'll grab some flowers to celebrate.

Welcome Dave!! Glad to have you onboard!! :cool1: Lots of great incentives for you!

There are some good losses this week! WTG, everyone!! Keep up the good work over the weekend! For the maintainers and gainers - again, close the door to the past week and hunker down for the NEW week!!!! Let's go!

I lost 2 this week! Woohoo!! My weekend strategy is to have my meals planned - done that - and to get up early to walk for some reason once the hubby is up and running I don't seem to get around to exercise. :cheer2:

What have you got to lose???? Hmmmm.....

QOTD: What is your strategy to stay on your healthy eating/exercise plan THIS weekend??
This is going to be tough. I just got bad news and my first instinct was to go run to Starbucks. I am a Starbucksaholic, you know how some get bad news and go drink (alcohol), me I go drink a latte. But instead went for a short walk outside (I am work so my "safe" treadmill is not available.) It helped while I was doing it but I am still a mess trying to keep it together, since I am at work.

This weekend is going to be just as tough too. My bad new is that I didn't get the house that I was hoping to buy. I am a very limited price range and their isn't really anything else that I can get right now. So instead of this weekend being about prelim packing it is going to be about worrying about just where we are going to be moving to. I have to move in the next few months and to complicate things we have a dog so there are only going to be very few rentals available.

So my plan is to be as clear headed as I can about food choices and reminding myself that making bad food choices isn't going to change anything and won't help me find a place to live.

Well, were going up to Portland tonight, straight for the wine and seafood festival. Best I can hope is to just not eat a lot. And limit drinking...:rotfl:
I already did an hour of treadmill/stepper and am going to soak in the jacuzzi when I'm done posting. There's a fitness center and a pool at our hotel so I will take advantage of that. Saturday is the wedding so there will be a dinner, and I know that they like good wine-- so no promises there either. Fortunately we love walking around Portland so I think we'll get some walking in.

Thought I'd mention that I didn't lose at all this week, but I'm ok with that-veggies are really hard for me- I worked produce for 12 years and pretty much only like buying from farms in season. Did get a huge thing of spinach from Costco and mushrooms- used all the mushies and most of the spinach but all my veggies apart from a few salads went into bad things like cheese omelets and nachos lol. My " aunt flo" is visiting though so I think I have a bit of water weight. Well know next week right...

Down .5 this week officially, but down .8 at WW. I"m having a ROTTEN week so I'm glad that I lost anything.

I may not be online much for awhile. My hard drive crashed last night (due likely to a DH error!) I"m on a clunky old laptop, and don't know how it will hold up.

Between that, mortgage pmts not received, DS19 car broken down, and TOM deciding to show up after 4 months, I'm really fighting the urge to eat everything in sight.

More later if I can! We CAN do this!!!!! One day, one BITE at a time!!

I was wondering why it is that any loss comes off the top first.
It's bad enough the top is headed south (with this Wisconsin winter, I'd like my whole body to be headed south --like to Orlando) --but no any weight loss --right off the top and I don't mean neck.

The hips and waist are where I'd really like it to go from -- but apparently they have a very close bond to that nasty fat.

Oh well, I lost 1.5 pounds this week -- not as much as I would have liked but better than nothing.

Keep on Keeping On!

I'm hearing ya on that hips/waist thing. At least it's coming off. Even if the last place is the first we'd like.

First of all. Congrats for all of us for being here.

Guys!!!! I can't believe the number of people that have lost and wish they would have lost more. Stop that! Really. Cherish your losses. Take this from someone who has been losiing for a long time - cherish. And the slower you lose it a lot of the times is about rational choices for life. That you can stick by. Trust me when you maintain or gain, which everyone does on a weight loss journey once in awhile, you will be thankful for such losses.

I am down .8 and I am beyond thrilled. And very proud of myself. Back story which I posted on here.

I am under a lot of stress right now. And I had emotional overeating for two to three days this week. And I hadn't emotionally overeaten for a long time. It surprised me. So I said if you can't control that right now - what can you control? Water and exercise. So I drank my water and exercised throughout all the eating. And I stopped the overeating by Monday by actually having the feelings. :lmao: :rotfl: And exercised consistently with an interval program.

And lost!!!

I'm so pleased with myself. And it's time in my life to shout that from the rafters instead of looking at any negative.

Kathy. :wave2:
Bravo for you! Well said!
Do your best and make it work! Dwell on positives. We do better with positive thinking!

Welcome Dave, You are already doing well based on the 20 pound loss you've got in your siggie. Congratulations!

I wish I would loose up top. So far I can tell I have lost around my middle. (aka...gut and back fat!) :rotfl2: Nothing up top unfortunately. I have PLENTY there. Oh well, maybe next ten pounds will make a difference!

Well, I began basketball once a week and getting more regular with the Wii Fit, and had a 7 lbs. loss this week. Just hoping to get back to my regular 2-3 losses I've been having. That big number scares me a bit this coming week, and especially with next week being the Super Bowl, and DS(will be 5)'s birthday party we're having on the 31st.

Ok MelanieC, here is your recipe. I am happy to report they are good leftover too!

As I mentioned earlier, I maintained this week. While I do wish that I had lost, I am happy that I did not gain- as I deserved to after the week I had. True to form, I've been having a hard time getting back on track. I am determined ot turn it around and really rock this thing out.

My goal is to be at a healthy weight by graduation in May, and that date is uncomfortably close. I know that I can do it, and I will do it. I am not going to look at pictures of graduation and hate what I see.

the other day my mentor teacher took a picture of me teaching, and while I love seeing the looks on the kids' faces, I hate the way that I look in the picture. I want to burn the dang thing. I don't ever want to feel like that again. As much as I hate that pic, it might be going on the fridge next to a pic of me at a healthy weight to remind myself why I am eating healthy.

Wow, taking the week off from DISing has sure put me behind. First, congratulations to everyone last week - especially the superstars! Great job!

I lost 2.6 this week (9 lbs total) which really surprised me since I had to travel overnight for work and ate their catered meals. We also had a BBQ lunch at work and I think the healthiest things there were the napkins! My exercise was down this week but I still got my three weekly runs in and two days on the elliptical.

I decided to lay off the Internet this week because I was just spending too much time on it while staying up late. For health and stress reasons, I really needed to catch up on my sleep.

I'll briefly try to answer the QOTDs here:

Sunday's QOTD:
What is your favorite "Go To" meal that you make yourself when you are in a pinch, or the family is eating something you can't eat?

If it's breakfast, I make oatmeal with frozen blueberries, strawberries, peaches or anything else I can get in a bag from Costco. For lunch or dinner, I usually just nuke a Healthy Choice TV dinner and then eat whatever fruit or veggies I need to feel content.

Monday QOTD -
1. What is your favorite restaurant or type of restaurant (example -Japanese, mexican, chinese), for eating a healthy OP meal that you feel good about yourself when you leave knowing you are still on track when you leave.
2. What do you order?

I usually get fajitas from our favorite local Mexican restaurant. I get grilled chicken and substitute black beans. I leave off the cheese, sour cream and guacamole but usually throw on some salsa. Avoiding downing a basket of chips is the hardest part for me. I usually allow myself a few but try to wait until just before the food comes out.

Tuesday's QOTD: Who is someone who inpires you and gives you hope.
This could be someone from History, someone living today, someone you know or even someone who inspires you to live your healthiest life.

That's easy, my 3yo DD. She is the only person who has ever inspired me enough to make major changes in my life.

QOTD - Wednesday:
Whatare your favorite treat's that are still relatively healthy?

I like Fiber One bars and yogurt if I need a snack during the day. I dig the Skinny Cow drumstick-like cones for dessert.

Thursday QOTD:
What is your next event that makes you nervous about staying on track?
What is your game plan to get past this event and stay on track/OP?

We are hosting our first Superbowl party. I might have to make a secret stash of healthy things to hide in the bedroom where I can keep disappearing to when I need something!

QOTD: What is your strategy to stay on your healthy eating/exercise plan THIS weekend??

Sunday should be easy as we don't have many plans but Saturday will be difficult. We get up early to take DD to gymnastics. We then are taking her to a special event at a science museum for kids. At night we have a sitter and are having a grown-ups night out at a nice restaurant. I don't know when I'm going to have time to work out so I'll have to squeeze it in first thing in the morning. If we are dining at the place I'm thinking of, it will be hard to find lighter options but I'll do my best as well as to use portion control.

Have a great weekend everyone. I can't wait to see the losses stack up for the week.

-steve

I too have pictures taken in my classroom and hated how I look. I know that feeling.

I am also trying to get a healthy weight for June and I feel your pressure. I won't be graduating but am probably having surgery on my foot and will be out of action for a good part of the summer. If any one has any experience with bunion surgery could you please let me know how it is.

Off to get my work out in for this morning. I was planning on quilting last night but I just didn't feel like it. Ds1's girl friend is in Spain for the semester. Last night he mentioned that he was thinking of maybe going over to visit. I know her parents won't go. Her father just started a new job and her mother just had back surgery and is out of work so won't have the money. I don't know why I feel I don't want him to go. I know the money would be better saved for a different car he really wants. I also feel that he spends money too freely (eating out , movies etc) and I would feel better about him going if he had been more careful about his money in the last couple of months. But he is a great kid and since Nov has been working 2 jobs and some weeks he never had a day off. He graduated in May from college and at least he is working and in the field he graduated in. It also bothers me that I don't have any thing planned for this summer and if I have surgery for at least 2 weeks I have to sit with my foot elevated (doesn't sound like too much fun for me) I guess I am jealous that he gets a chance to do something I never had a chance to do when I was his age. Who ever went over seas for a semester of college 30 years ago:confused3 . I was too busy studying to be a teacher of math. I am pretty sure dh is going to encourage him to go because he talked about giving him a couple of hundred dollars to help pay for the trip. Ds also brought up that he was going to go in high school but the school cancelled the trip so I guess he is due to over.

Well I have quilting to do today and working on costumes for a local high school. Have a great day everyone.

:grouphug: Sorry that you are having a bad week. When that happens to me I just tell myself being healthier would make these bumps in the road a little easier to handle and try to minimize the damage. Life happens, we are all human, and this too shall pass. I will think of you and hope next week is better for you and your family. :)

Happy Saturday! The sun is shining in my window but doesn't fool me, it's a whopping 22 degrees here in Ohio :cold: I have a bit o'time before my DD gets home from babysitting and we head to FC to workout.:drive:

I am happy to say that I lost 1.2 puunds this week which is a total of 3.1.

Today I am down 2 more for total of 10 pounds.

Well,..... I'm down 1 lb. from last week, which makes my total loss come to 3 lbs. Now, some people lose that in 3 days, but for me.... it is a miracle!

WI this week was down 1 lb this week

I'm down about 1 lb from last week for a total of almost 3lbs.

I am down 3.4 pounds this week.

Hi all! I had a good week and I am looking forward to consistently moving forward!

I am happy to report that I maintained this week.

I lost 3.2 this week, so I was pretty excited.

I lost 3 lbs this week.

I am down 1 pound.

I have lost.

We so totally :rockband: i'm sure you noticed i took out all the 'only' 'should've' 'sadly' etc on purpose! Stand proud and tall -- you have taken steps to a healthier you and it's working!! yes, slow and steady is frustrating, but look at all the success from your healthy decisions last week! could you have done better, maybe, i know i could've -- but we must not let that take away from our successes!!

Just popping in to say HI MOM!!!!!

and....

To say that I really feel as though I am getting into a regiment with my eating and exercising. I feel very weird if I don't jump on that treadmill in the morning and last night.... I had a mighty big craving for something sweet and was able to beat it by eating something that was sweet but WAY MORE healthy for me! This is a huge step! I had the chocolate covered toffee out on the counter and choose peanuts instead. I'm really starting to feel confident that I can do this!

I lost 1.6 this week.

Well, no loss for me this week but no gain either so I am happy.

I list 2lb this week, making an 8lb loss so far

I am very happy to report a 4 lb weight loss this week!

I lost 3.2 this week. :cool1:

More rocking on! :rockband: Great job losers!!

Guys!!!! I can't believe the number of people that have lost and wish they would have lost more. Stop that!

Say it Sister!:thumbsup2

I am down .8 and I am beyond thrilled. And very proud of myself.

I stayed the same this week.
