Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Woops! Forgot to post Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

This is a tough one for me. I've rewarded myself with food for so long. The only thing I need is new cross trainers. I looked at them the other day and cringed at the price. I'm going to start watching the sales and buy myself a pair. I didn't have a quantifiable goal so it will be hard to say when I've met it but anything I can do to keep making progress is a good thing.

My short term goal is to get out of the 180's and get back to the 170's. I can't beleive I ever let my weight creep up that much. I remember when I made it to the 160s a few years ago. I thought that was bad. I should have changed a few habits back then!

You can do it, we can help. Don't dwell too much onthe past. You can't change what has happened. You can change what you are going to do about it.

To have my evening weigh in number be the same number as current morning weigh in number.

I would love to go to bed feeling as thin as I do when I wake up. This may seem strange but I always wake up feeling thinner than when I go to bed.

I hope this does not come across wrong, but it is not a good idea to weight multiple times. Your weight fluctuates so much throughout the day. When you wake up you have not been eating for several hours. During the day you eat and drink, and most people find that morning weigh ins show lower numbers than evening weigh ins. In fact, research has shown that people who weigh on a daily basis are less likely to stick with it because those little fluctuations become discouraging. I would encourage you to find another goal. Whatever you choose, we are here to support you.

Well I have had a slight change in plans, I won't call it a set-back.

I was supposed to stay after work on Friday and do my 30 minutes of cardio and my C25K workout. Due to a snowstorm I decided to leave work with everyone else and get home safely (my 20 minute drive took me 50 minutes).

I planned to then head out today to the gym after the roads were cleared. The weather had another story in mind. We are still getting snow.

I decided to take mother nature by the horns and trade my treadmill workout for a 45 minute snow shoveling workout.

I could have just sat on my caboose and watched the snow pile up but I summoned the motivation and got in a good workout!

Have a great night everyone!

It's awesome that you did not let the weather change your plans. Not only did you get a great workout, you also got your shovelling done. Sometimes those types of workouts are the best!

Drinking water was my big positive change

followed closely by exercising.

Having my fat clothes not be tight any more.

I have lost 5.5lbs...not quite sure how but I'll take it..Hoping next week has at least some loss.

I've said it before I'll say it again. OWN YOUR WEIGHTLOSS! Obviously something you did worked. Keep up the good work, and CONGRATULATIONS!

My first goal of this is ten more pounds. this should take me down from a size 38 waist to a size 36. second part of this is should help alot with my blood sugar. I will continue to eat better and walk the steps at school. in the first week I dropped 8.3 pounds just with walking and a MAJOR change in eating, how much of this was due to overeating and drinking to much soda? this week I want to add sit-up and push ups.

Great job on dropping 8.3 lbs. I hear you about the blood sugar issue. It sounds like you are a college student. Do you have a campus rec center? Ours is fre, and we can even make free appointments with a personal trainer. Is that something your campus offers? It could be helpful. :cheer2:

My day today was good. Totally OP!!! For the COW - I got in 8 glasses of water. No pain today either - so far so good. I wonder if these cranberry pills I started taking (I don't take them everyday because I forget - maybe one a week if I'm lucky) have helped? At first I thought they burned my bladder, but the next time it felt fine. Hmm....maybe I should take another cranberry pill tonight. I was having a lot of pain in November and early Dec, but the past week or two I really haven't had much bladder pain. Using the bathroom all the time, but no pain - thank goodness.

I tried a new smoothie tonight - the amounts can be adjusted - this is just what I used.

1 cup plain lowfat organic plain yogurt, 16g 88% dark organic chocolate, 19g organic peanut butter, 1 frozen banana - It was milkshake like since only the banana is frozen. It was like having a frozen chocolate banana in a drink. The chocolate was slightly chunky - enough to chew tiny bits. YUMMO!!

I planned on exercising this afternoon, but since I slept half the day away, by the time I cleaned the house, cooked dinner etc. it was late.

GREAT OP day Melanie!!!!!!

When I posted before I had not yet weighed. I weighed and found out I lost 9.2 lbs this week!!! I was very excited, but this week ... dear Aunt Flo is visiting and we are in Disney so... I will be drinking lots of water, hopefully that will keep me from snacking to much! My goal for the month was 8lbs. I have increased it to 12 (figureing I won't lose as much the next couple weeks).

9.2?! AWESOME POSSUM! I think you may be pleasantly surprised about how well you do at Disney. I remember when we went to Disney and then on the Disney cruise I ended up losing a couple of lbs even though I did not watch what I ate at all. There was just so much activity that it more than made up for it. No matter what happens, ENJOY DISNEY! :dance3:

It took me awhile to read all the posts, but congrats to all of you for your losses this week.

I am down 1.5 lbs this week. I have been following the same diet for almost 6 months. I am still going strong and still have a long way to go.

What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I am drinking more water. Still not as much as I should, but instead of grabbing a bottle of pop, I grab a bottle of water.

What is your first goal you are reaching for? (A smaller step toward your ultimate goal). It can be a specific weight, clothing size, behavior change, whatever you want.

I have hit so many goals so far, but I would say right now, My goal is to hit the 100's. A place I have not been to in many, many years. I am very close and should be able to hit it within the next month or so....at least I hope.

Good luck all you losers this week.

I can't wait to welcome you to ONEderland! Great job losing your 1.1 lbs. It sounds like you have been working at this for a while now and are doing great. That is always inspiring to hear.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and just read through everything. Wow-I haven' really thought of a goal or a motivation. My motivation is I still have little kids that I want to ride roller coasters and go boogie boarding with! I have 4 boys and a wonderful husband. Good

It sounds like you have 5 wonderful motivators in yoru life. good luck riding those roller coaster!

I am so proud of myself. I woke up and exercised right away. I did the Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD. Usually I just do the warm up, cardio 1 and cool down. THis time I added in the cardio 2. It was a great workout and I was sweating! I am really working on increasing my push up position for testing. Right now I make it to 1 minute and a few seconds, this week I am going to push it to 1 1/2 minutes and keep increasing. I want to make the push up position all the way at testing.

Vija: Great job having an OP day. Keep it up!

Good Sunday to all BL WISHers.
It is so inspiring to log on and read about all the challanges and sucesses everyone is sharing. I have thought often of "what would my fellow BL's do" when I am in a tempting or diffucult situation.

My first goal is to get in to my jeans. Not just any jeans. Let me explain....I have been doing WW since Sept of 06. After doing WW for about 11 months, I had lost just over 50 lbs. (At which time I had just bought 2 new pairs of Jeans.)
Then on aug 1st of 2007, my DM passed away very unexpectdly. Big shock in my life. But even during this time of grief, I never quit attending my meetings. But I did let the weight gradually creep back on. It was an up and down ride. But more ups then down. Also throw in there a 15 day DCL cruise and a 7 day mexican cruise and low and behold, I had added back on 28 of the 50 lbs I had lost, and now find those jeans VERY uncomfortable to wear,(but not impossible as they were getting to big for me and I was almost ready to get a smaller size.)

So getting these jeans to be comfortable again is my short term goal.

I hope those jeans become comfortable very soon. :grouphug:

I think I've caught up on the latest posts. Good job, everybody! Wow, Krisi! Great loss! I'm going to WDW in a couple of weeks and I plan to walk a LOT. Trying to gear up for it, physically and figuratively. I ordered a pedometer, will let you all know how many steps I figure it takes to walk around WDW.

I just joined the challenge this week, will weigh in on Monday.

Saturday's question of the day: What is your first goal you are reaching for? (A smaller step toward your ultimate goal). It can be a specific weight, clothing size, behavior change, whatever you want.

My interim goal is to get down to the "overweight" BMI instead of the "obese". My Wii will tell me when that happens. I wonder if it will stop saying "oh" when I step on it then.

I'm starting to get jealous of all y'all and your Wii's. Good luck getting down to that BMI, it will happen.

Sunday is going good, accidently oversleep and was a few minutes late for church (uggh that is so embarrassing). Food is going well today, I'm behind in water - I've had two cups so far - better get drinking or I'll be chugging to much at night.

I'm really feeling in such control right now....but I know how thin the ice is at the beginning of being back in that wagon. One day at a time........just rolling along!

Melanie: It sounds like you are doing really wonderful. Keep it up!

I just reached a small milestone I wanted to share. I usually wear an XL shirt but can wear some bigger Large shirts. We went to Disneyland several months ago and I found two shirts I really liked. They were out of XL so I bought them in Large. Of course they were too snug. I was able to wear one yesterday and it fit great! I'm wearing the other one today. :cool1:

We are leaving soon for a birthday party for our friends' DD. They have pizza and cake so we are eating a filling light lunch before we leave so we don't scarf down everything we see at their house.

-steve

Steve, you know how when you are a kid you "grow in" to clothing? Well, as an adult I find I love "shrinking in" to clothing. I have a whole box in my spare room with clothes that no longer fit, sadly, that includes the majority of my Disney clothes. Congratulations on being able to wear those shirts!

I so agree with this - we want everything to happen overnight, but it just doesn't. Progress is more important than perfection and slow changes usually are more long lasting - IMHO.

Most postive change the first week - staying in control and insisting upon the weigh in - even though it was not "my day"

Measurable goals for the challenge? This time, for me, this challenge is all about control. I need to stay in control, while my relative with the eating disorder deals with ending her "controls". I am watching this person closely and trying hard to listen to my body.

Oh - and I want a real good time on my 10k in May, and dropping a weight "group" would be nice too, but control is my biggest goal because it is my biggest sabotage.

Another snowstorm here - I got to church but could not get to the gym. Cannot go in the morning as I have four court appearances and start too early, but hoping to get there in the evening.

It has been hard to stay in control today because I am having a "hungry day" - but have been tracking points.

Have appointments with the trainer booked, but she was busy for a couple of weeks.

Have been watching with interest the Disney marathon results and pics - I am dying to know what the new medals look like.

Have a magical losing week folks - you are all doing great.

Linda

Linda, you have such a positive attitude. I know you will do well in May. Good luck!

I just added the popcorn I had for a snack while watching 24 and when I was done it said I had eaten 7134 calories :lmao:

I had entered it wrong, lol.

Sunday is done and all OP! 8 cups of water, today was hard to get it down. The last 2 cups I heated in the microwave and added lemon juice to it. That made it much easier to get down cuz it was warm. Cold water this time of year is not easy to stomach when your not eating or thirsty.

Dinner tonight was my kids favorite - UNfried Rice - very easy and so yummy. I have 2 cups for lunch tomorrow.
(Brown Rice - 2 cups uncooked, I think that would make 4 cups cooked. Start rice, then cook 1lb ground turkey, with one small onion and 4-6 cups garlic. I then rinse the meat mixture and put back in the pan. Add shredded carrots, rice, thawed peas (I don't count how much -maybe a 4th of a frozen package- you dont want too many, but you want enough), then I scramble 4 eggs and 1 egg white with 2 teaspoons of olive oil. Add the eggs to the rice mixture and mix all together. I also add a little salt and pepper to the meat and a little to the end product. I really go light on the salt. Also, you can use soy sauce - it tastes good without soy sauce too.

I have also been hungry for potatoes lately, so I made my healthier version of potatoes for breakfast tomorrow. I cut 2 red potatoes in small pieces, add chopped onions and garlic and microwave till tender. Then I added 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a ceramic baking dish and popped in the oven for a bit to crisp up. I threw it in the fridge till tomorrow and then I will make some scrambled egg whites with one whole egg. YUMMO breakfast - and I've been craving the potatoes. They say that if you add olive oil to the potatoes, it slows down how fast your body breaks the carbs from the potatoes down in your stomach. This helps it not spike your insulin, plus by eating with the protein from the eggs it will be the perfect balance of fat, carbs and protein.

Here is to a great week for all of us :)

Aren't those little mistakes always so amusing? Congratulations on finishing out the day OP.

Good Sunday night, everyone. :) I always do OK with my water during the week, because I do drink a lot at work during the day. But I'm pretty bad on weekends. So thanks to the COW, I managed to get in more than 70oz of water each day this weekend. :thumbsup2

Didn't get exercise in yesterday, so today I went out for a 45 minute TRUDGE thru the snow in my new walking boots. :goodvibes It snowed quite a bit last night, and not too many people had shoveled their sidewalks by noon. So it was more of an endurance thing rather than a power walk ... but it was definitely a workout. :yay:

Hope everyone has a wonderful start to their week. :cheer2:
I

I'm glad that the COW is helping you and that you were able to go out and nejoy the snow. Maybe our posters who are snowed in should go sledding? You burn calories and have fun! No reason it has to be tedious.

Hmm - It's only 4 more pounds, so I'm not sure of what I could give myself. I hope this comes within the next 3 weeks, so that will hopefully be by the end of the month. I know - I'll buy myself a new kindle book, or maybe a new workout video. What I will do is see what is out there after I lose it and buy one or the other - OR BOTH, lol!

DO BOTH!

:surfweb: Whew! I'm finally caught up! :laundy:

Okay ladies and gentleman, confession time: I goofed big time and I apologize. When Brenda and I had talked about the coaching thing and when I read the instructions, I thought it meant a mega thread for each week and the big change was not having teams. I did not realize that it meant one mega thread for the entire challenge. After several people brought it up I went through and read everything again and realized my mistake. I have asked the mods to merge our thread with the week one thread in order to rectify my mistake. So please accept my apologies. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Anyway, I guess I never answered my own questions. Silly me.

This week I lost 3.4 lbs. I was very surprised since I wasn't the most OP, it took me a few days to get my head in the game so to speak. My first mini goals is to lose 10% which will get me to 137. When I get there, I am getting a manicure/pedicure.

My positive change this week was journalling everything. I WILL keep it up.

Yesterday was not the best OP day, which probably explains my issues last night. In answer to a question that was asked of me (by Zurgsmom I think) I have been "prediabetic" since September (officially). However, I think it was a misdiagnosis. I have had numbers well outside the range (as high as 280) whenever I go over my carbs. The whole thing has been a saga and I have had a hard time getting a doctor to take me seriously. When I first went in to my university health center for low blood sugar, they told me to fast so they could test me. The doctor never did. She made me feel like an absolute moron for even being concerned and told me "don't eat sugar." I felt like a complete and total idiot and figured I was just overreacting to something that was normal. It was the people here on the Dis who encouraged me to seek a second opinion a year later.

I was not completely happy when I found out the doctor did not do the tests she should have, but I am grateful she caught it where others might have missed it. However, I still don't think we are there yet. I tried going to my family doctor but again was made to feel like an idiot for trying to be proactive and learn about my condition. For now I am sticking with the doctor who diagnosed me. My family and friends want me to see a specialist to get a more clear cut answer (am I prediabetic or Type 1.5? It seems that type 1.5 fits better) but I am waiting until I get a job and know where I will be living. It's been frustrating because when I try to get advice people think I'm lying. They don't understand how somebody on no meds can go as low as I have (I hit 45 after the OGTT) and frankly I don't either. But then I go higher than I should given what I eat, even when I mess up. It's been very frustrating and exhausting, and I hate that people seem to think I am playing them when I'm not. I am determined not to let this get me down though.

Anywhoo, today was much better. I had to work, which is always difficult because I work in a grocery store kitchen and we're forever grazing. Not to mention that I usually don't get my break until the end of my shift. Like today, I got my fifteen minute break at the 5.25 hours into my 6 hour shift. That was helpful. I'm always so freaking hungry by the time break comes around. Today I made good choices though. And I picked up some salmon pinwheels from the meat department for dinner. It was delicious. I even got a walk in with my two little monster puppies and actually wore them out. So today was much better.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

For me it is moving up my bedtime and getting enough sleep. I haven't done well readjusting to a normal schedule after break, adn I know this will be much easier if I am well rested. So, heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to bed I go. I hope everybody has a wonderful OP day tomorrow!

Well, so much for going to bed early. I just got back from the vet. One of my dogs had an allergic reaction to God only knows what. Poor thing, scared the crap out of me. But we're back and he's fine after getting a shot. I'm trying to unwind after all the excitement so I can get some sleep tonight. Oh well, maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow and I can sleep in. (I hope, I hope.) Once again, goodnight.

I think this is the one positive thing I can do for myself this week. I have a crazy 2 weeks coming up and if I don't get enough sleep I am worthless.

Have a great day everyone.

:surfweb: good morning....did ya miss me? i have been pc-free all weekend. though it probably isn't a bad idea every now and then i did miss it. but now i have a computer that actually warms up in less than 10 mins and doesn't make a horrid whirling sound :thumbsup2

i did lose a little on friday's WI - my weekend wasn't my best. just keep swimming....

QOTD -- hmmm. i have decided to incorporate yoga back into my regular exercise weekly plan. i did 20 mins yesterday and really enjoyed it, the stretching felt wonderful. my back has been achy and i think yoga will help

there was no way for me to try and catch up -- sorry --

have a wonderful OP monday everyone

WTG on wearing that Disney shirt!! Isn't it such a great feeling.

Sorry to hear about your dog but so glad to hear that he's doing better. Maybe getting into bed early tonight will happen.;)

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

A new pair of jeans...the two pair I have right now are baggy but I can still keep them up. Really don't want to buy something until it is absolutely necessary. I did have to go and purchase a new pair of black pants for a funeral this weekend. I tried on things in my closet and they wouldn't have been safe to wear out (would have been afraid they would have fallen down:eek:). Thankfully I found a pair that wasn't expensive as I hope to not be in them too long either.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I need to get in a couple of more salads throughout the week. A non-weight change I need to make this week is to get my desk de-cluttered, I can't find anything:scared1: .

I hope everyone has a great day, stay positive and focused!! :thumbsup2

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

I'm planning on getting a Pedicure - I love having pretty toes and haven't had one is so long!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week? Pre-washing and prepping my salads and veggies - I might actually eat more of them if they were ready to grab n go!

Hi everyone! I just joined the DIS boards and am joining the WISH and BL7 threads! This is my first post, so please bear with me!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?
I work from home, so it is easy to spend the day snacking rather than eating actual meals. I am going to the grocery store today with that in mind. Buying more things that I need to prepare a little, and less that I can just pop open and munch on. Also, I need to concentrate on getting a reasonable and consistant amount of sleep each night.

I'm really looking forward to taking this journey with you all!

Okay I am UP 4 pounds since last week because I went off Atkins and that happens when you go off of it.

The one positive change I have made this week is to join weight watchers. I lost a lot of weight with them many years ago and whats nice is there isnt anything I cant have.

One reward I can give myself that is non food would be a good book. Preferably JD Rob or Nora Roberts.

Ok, this weekend was not good; celebrated my Dad's birthday yesterday and fell into old habits, namely snacking before dinner with wine. So, today, back on the wagon.

This week, I hope I can say my positive change is more exercise; we are supposed to get socked with snow and cold, and my tendency is to hibernate; plus lots of work stress to boot:scared: So, I really need to stay focused!!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

First Goal is 10% loss and I am planning a spa day. :goodvibes

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I'm joining the gym today!! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to start working out on a regular basis. I'm working with a personal trainer which will give me an extra push on days that I may otherwise have an "excuse" not hit the gym.

Weighed in this morning and am down 2.6 lbs. Go me!! :) Baby steps to my goal weight...

Good luck to everyone this week.

Sarah

Sunday's Question: Not sure what reward.....maybe a pedicure.....hmmmmmmm.......

Monday's question- My positive change is that I MUST STAY OP!!!! I'm having horrid food challenges!!

Today may prove interesting...DS19 came home from work last night with a nasty burn on the inside of his left wrist/forearm from emptying the soup out of the steam table at work...steamtable was too full. I full expect to need to make a Dr visit this morning to get some silvadene.

And, I'm still cleaning for my DNiece & her DH from FL who are coming on Friday to go snowmobiling. Are they NUTS??? I'd rather be in FL (1 hr from WDW) where they are!

Monday QOTD:

I'm with a few of you ... I keep saying I'm going to get more sleep. But I'm a night person, so I often have more energy after 11PM. :confused3 So this week I'm going to work harder on a more reasonable bedtime ... no more of this up until midnight stuff.

Have a good day folks. :)

Well bummer ... I knew I would have a bad weekend but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. *sigh* I'm basically back to square one where I was last Monday. My hard-fought 4 day loss was put right back on with 3 days of laziness and eating out since we were at a weekend swim meet about 2 hours from home.

Where the heck is that darn wagon and why did I let it run me over :rotfl:?

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

Nothing really, unless I put a little money in my savings for that trip to Disney I want to take so bad for either April or my 40th BD in July!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

To try and focus on NOT saying this is a DIET and rather put in my head it is a healthier lifestyle period!

I'm not sure if I answered the question about the short term goal but I have a size 8 skirt that I purchased but have not been able to be comfortable in...Well, I wore it to church yesterday and it is just a tad snug but I was comfortable...so my goal will be for me to feel great in that skirt!

Looks like a lot of you guys already know one another...guess from many posts in the past??? Anyway, kind of new here and esp. to the WISH boards so looking forward to getting to know all of you; new and old.

My weekend was so-so. I did not exercise Sat. b/c I had not taken a break since New Year's Day. I did get 40minutes on the treadmill yesterday and about 35 minutes on the Wii fit and Outdoor Challenge. BUT, my husband wanted homemade chili and I did give in and have some... back on track today. My son loves my ribs so I promised him those tonight , with my homemade mashed potatoes (his other fav)...BUT , I bought a couple of sweet potatoes yesterday and I will have one of those... They are so good with just a tad of healthy "butter" spread and a drizzle of honey...makes a great dessert. And curbs that starchy crave at the same time.
Had yogurt when I first got up but getting ready for 3 scrambled egg whites. Lunch??? we shall see! Going to step class tonight that I'm looking forward to. Oh, and I've still been doing well with the water so I am going to keep that up.

One great thing that happened over the weekend was my daughter said, "Mom, you have lost a lot of weight." And she said her friend had made a comment. Gotta love those compliments!!!:woohoo:

Good luck everyone this week!:thumbsup2

I weighed in this morning and had lost 3 pounds! If I can maintain that this week, I will be happy.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

Add more exercise! I got on my recumbent bike last night and it was soooo hard. I'm going to add some time to that this week, while TV is on. And I will be keeping up with the Wii Fit. I've done 30-40 minutes on it lately.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

Since my back is better now, I'll try to start walking (either indoors or outdoors, weather permitting) at least a mile every day with DD.
