Reserved our "Welcome to Disneyland" tickets over the weekend at exactly 30 days out! So excited that we will be able to do this tour on our actual first day in the parks! Got the Visa discount, too. Seems like a real bargain compared to the tours at WDW. We arrive at DL the day before, so we plan on walking to DDD in the afternoon to go shopping, get our 1st visit buttons, etc.

Im on the fence about taking this tour for my upcoming first DL visit has anyone done it recently?

I went on this tour with a friend for our first trip to Disneyland and it was WELL worth it. We had the advantage of going to the park for the evening the day before, but the tour is beyond worth it's cost. The fast passes you get and the pin alone were worth the value.
My friend and I have been previous cast members of Walt Disney World and we were fortunate that our tour group coincidentally consisted of all WDW cast members also so our tour became more dedicated to pointing out the differences and similarities between the parks.
On the tour day we went we got to ride (see) Bugs Life show and Pirates of the Caribbean. Riding pirates was really cool you skip the line (and there was a LONG line), plus being with a bunch of Disney world buffs we all gushed about how much better it was at Disneyland than world.
The fast passes we got were:
Blue Zone World of Color
Radiator Springs Racers
The special seating certificate for Aladdin
We also got a fast pass for a Disneyland ride and for the life of me i can't remember which one it was I am really thinking it was Space Mountain though.

I am considering the Walk in Walts footsteps for my next trip, but this is a great first tour if you've never walked with plaid before and the cost and time for what you get is beyond worth it!!! We would have spent the tour length of time in line for the rides we got fast passes for, or we may have even skipped them all together.

Wow, thanks! I'm totally doing this next month when I go. I didn't ever check the tours because they are so expensive in WDW and I'm new to DLR. I can book in 3 days!

How long did the tour take? I was looking at booking a different tour but didn't see an estimated time length for tours.

I did it today..and it is WELL worth it! We rode on Pirates & The Little Mermaid as well as the train, all skipping the lines which was great (Pirates had been closed for a while this morning, so the lines were extra long when it reopened & we went on, so I was extra appreciative of that!). We also got fastpasses for World of Color, Indiana Jones & Star Tours, VIP seating to either Aladdin or Mickey and the Magical Map. The pin was awesome. Our guide asked us some questions on and off early in the tour and tailored some of her trivia and talking points to things which were of interest to those in our group. Well worth more than the price!

We rode the same attractions and were given the same fp/show seating as glitteryotters on 10/11. I was a bit dissapointed the tour did not include more trivia. It was mostly we're in this land now and these rides are here. The guide did try to keep us in the shade, which was appreciated as it was 95 degrees.

The rides, fp, and show seating are all subject to change. The website advertises a lanyard with pin and we got just a pin; but again the website makes it clear that is subject to change so we didn't say anything. We'd rather have a pin than a lanyard anyways.

If you're new to DLR it's fine, but honestlyni think it'd be a waste of time for everyone else.

So, you can do the tour the night before you go to the parks? Do you have to do it on a day you have a ticket to go to the parks? I'm a first time DL-er and this tour sounds like a really good value!

You do need park admission to at least one park, though I recommended having a hopper for the day or else your fast passes may go to waste. The Aladdin/Magical Map seating they're more lenient on though, but they still have the right to turn you away if you miss the times slot.

Just reserved this, thanks for pointing it out.

According the person I booked with, there is only ONE tour each day, with a check in shortly after 10 a.m. and a start of 10:30 a.m., so you can't go at night (I was asking about a weekend day, when there were more likely to be multiple tours). Maybe during holidays there are more?

Correct, one tour a day and it's not daily. Friday-Monday I think, but you can check the website. That is always subject to change of course.
