Welcome Reception Help

I was wondering if anyone is doing/has done something nice for a welcome reception that wasn't too expensive.
We're getting married 10/25/08 at WP, Reception at ADH, Dessert at Upper French Terrace.
We have about 130-140 guests coming, mostly from the NY/NJ/Phila. areas. Since so many people are making the trip we wanted to do something that night before the wedding but as we all know, those pp costs add up very quickly!! Right now we have seabreeze pt on hold as well as the boardwalk area of the yacht club for welcome drinks and small buffet. But any other cheaper thoughts are certainly welcome!! thanks!!

One couple had a buffet on the beach at Ft. Wilderness that was inexpensive and looked like a lot of fun!

i had a welome party at yaght and beach. it was suppose to be ain the beach but it got rained out it was still rally nice to mingle and everyone appreciated it. it was 45 each person and i did some deor and total of 2,000 i had 75 people.

another idea i had had was to do an ice cream social and just do sundaes and cones i am sure it is cheaper and it would be fun theme

my mil wanted a full dinner so we went the the bbq theme

Your party looked so cute! even though it rained your theme looked so nice. I was thinking of that kind of beachy theme too. I had the same thing as you, i wanted just ice cream but got outvoted.
