Here's my two cents on the "Welcome Homes".
We have received them at both BWV and VWL....and personally I think it's a nice touch. Wouldn't kill me not to get them, but they are appreciated. Especially the VWL guard who snaps to attention and gives you a crisp salute with the WH.
I don't blame anyone who is disappointed in not receiving the WH, though. Let's face it, we choose to pay a premium to stay on-site at WDW. Many will tell you that they enjoy being "surrounded by the magic" then entire time and would not stay off-site.
To me, a nice "Welcome Home" is part of the magic. Is it offensive not to get one? Not really. But is it some small thing that makes
DVC a small "step up"? I think so. And it's so easy to do.
Besides, DVD unashamedly markets this slogan all over their literature and videos. They sell DVC as a warm, fuzzy feeling. It's the job of the employees, quite frankly, to deliver the advertised product.
BTW, I agree completely with Captain Midnight that the "Welcome Home" is just an indicator of general service and understanding of what makes WDW in general, and DVC specifically, so appealing to so many.
