"Welcome Homes at DVC resorts

In my opinion "welcome homes" are an indication or even a measure of how "on top" of customer service the current manager in charge is. I seem to see a pattern in our stays when this is lacking, other customer service attentativeness seems to be lacking as well.

I tend to agree with nydizfan. There are many, many more important aspects of a DVC vacation than a "welcome home" or lack there of.

I wouldn't care if I never heard another "welcome home" as long as the cleanliness, quality, and courtesy remain of highest priority.

One of my fondest WH was at BWV. When I went to check in the CM asked Inn or Villas? I said
"Villas". He responded with a big "Well, Welcome Home!" It just tickled me.

We haven't been home yet, but I can't imagine that a CM who doesn't say "Welcome Home" would ruin my day(or vacation, for that matter). As long as they are pleasant and polite, that's all that matters. It's not like I'm the queen of England and someone forgets to call me "Your Majesty"! The actual interaction with the CMs are and should be few and far between (unless there are problems with the ressie or room, etc), and I've got my vacation to worry about, not a specific greeting. JMO.

Here's my two cents on the "Welcome Homes".

We have received them at both BWV and VWL....and personally I think it's a nice touch. Wouldn't kill me not to get them, but they are appreciated. Especially the VWL guard who snaps to attention and gives you a crisp salute with the WH.

I don't blame anyone who is disappointed in not receiving the WH, though. Let's face it, we choose to pay a premium to stay on-site at WDW. Many will tell you that they enjoy being "surrounded by the magic" then entire time and would not stay off-site.

To me, a nice "Welcome Home" is part of the magic. Is it offensive not to get one? Not really. But is it some small thing that makes DVC a small "step up"? I think so. And it's so easy to do.

Besides, DVD unashamedly markets this slogan all over their literature and videos. They sell DVC as a warm, fuzzy feeling. It's the job of the employees, quite frankly, to deliver the advertised product.

BTW, I agree completely with Captain Midnight that the "Welcome Home" is just an indicator of general service and understanding of what makes WDW in general, and DVC specifically, so appealing to so many.

Joe in CT....hey, these boards are for expressing opinions. Yours is a valid as anyone elses! As long as opinions are expressed without putting down other people's opinions, I think it's great.

And Joe.....have a great visit to WDW in two days!!
