Welcome Home Weeks Return 8/14 – 9/16 2025

Also interesting they’re marketing going to see a refreshed CCV room as part of the this. They must know we’re nosy af to make that a treat of the program…that being said, they’re not wrong! Hope someone on here is there in the early days and gets pics😅
Maybe they have some points and will have a sale when the refurbishment is complete!

(Don’t quote me on that on a podcast, I’m making this up 🤣)

😮Oh no that would be terrible and wonderful. If that happened I’d really be struggling because we also want more RIV before it sells out but how could I resist a sale on CCV?? I don’t think they’ve been ROFRing any CCV recently though so maybe I’m safe.

Booo! I arrive on the 15 September and on our first night we will have been travelling for about 15 hours so only one day of goodies for us.

It feels like they added more to it this time, no? Maybe I just don’t remember the list from last year. Anyway, it’s nice it’s returning, we won’t be in WDW for it this year sadly, but I live local to DLR now so I might attend the coffee and/or wine social if I can make it. I’m also a sucker for a reusable grocery bag lol looking forward to seeing that

I will be there having a good nosy and sending you all pics of the new rooms!

Looks like I'll be able to get the mobile order discount and the cup of coffee at DL. I'm sure I'll use the mobile order, but I don't know about the cup of coffee considering I also have free coffee in the room.

They've been running late night theme park events since 2016 (formerly Beach Bash.) I call total BS on claiming that the "majority" of owners will never attend one.

You can call BS all you want.

Even those who actually are staying during the event never try because they dont know about it or they actually strike out and don't get tickets (look around here for the threads asking for tickets from a fairly small group who actually are in the know).

It without a question is a majority of owners. Vast majority is where I land personally as there are lots of repeat people while first timers strike out.

Reminder that DVC since 2016 has added TONS of new members and they will continue to add even more members. So the event having went on for a decade doesn't really impact all the new owners that just bought and haven't been to one.

I've attended 5 of the late night events over the years which were all booked before dates were announced.

And you just outlined why some people even if staying during the time will not get in as you took a spot form someone who never has been. Its partly why they changed the registration system because the people in the "know" knew you could open 20 different web browsers to register with the first one that got through the queue.

Also congrats on being lucky at having a date fall during your trip. We did as well but had never expected to attend one prior to that.

MS has the numbers though tucked away for who has or hasn't been able to attend.

So it’s communicated via emails from DVC, Disney Files Magazine, member website, sales presentations, Disney fan sites, YouTubers, Facebook groups, discussion boards…yet you’re framing it as some insider thing that only a select few are aware of.

Uh-huh.

There are around 80 million DVC points in circulation, and they sell about 2 million per year. Many of those to existing members who already qualify for MM. Meanwhile some qualifying owners sell their points and drop off the roster of eligible participants.

It’s not really growing by leaps and bounds. And the families who bought in 2023…2024…2025 will eventually attend Moonlight Magic events themselves. They’ve got 40+ years to get out of this supposed majority who will “never” attend one.

DVC has hosted 92 events since 2016. That doesn’t include the 9 that were cancelled in 2020, and there were 0 held in 2021.

I’m not going to apologize for attending 5 of them over a span of 10 years. (As if it matters, I personally only went to 4 while my wife and daughter were at the 5th.) We all realize that not everyone staying on DVC points can attend when an event is held, and personally I applaud DVC for applying reasonable limits over the years.

The half dozen complaints posted after every registration from people who couldn’t get in are a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands who attend.

I have 2 very separate trips scheduled within these dates, WDW and Aulani. I can take advantage of a couple things and will miss a few things Id prefer by a couple days. It's okay though happy I will get something.

As someone who will be visiting Sept 13 - 20, it pains me that they didn't at least finish out that Wednesday & Thursday through the 18th for the 40% off some meals. Thursday is our resort/rest day. *sigh But at least it partially coincides with our dates, grateful for that.

I didn't say to apologize? Sorry if that made you upset to point out the fact that members attending MM multiple times means each MM is not a full first time members. Its not your responsibility to make sure someone else gets access to MM when a small percentage of DVC members can go that are staying onsite during that date.

Vast majority of DVC members have never heard of this sub.

Read the threads on the annual meetings and questions people ask that is common knowledge supposedly. People are out of the loop and plenty of people don't get the DVC mailings or completely ignore them.

This whole event feels like a cop out to get DVC members to come to DW/DL on weekdays. I’ll be down at WDW from August 28th-September 2nd for Destination D23 and MM and it feels like I might eek out a free ice cream OR be able to get a discount trying one of the restaurants as soon as I arrive Thursday. I wish more of the stuff was available during the weekend.

Most of the events/offerings will concur with our visit! Like others, we usually miss the DVC offerings, but we look forward to the dining discount and ice cream treats this year! Over the years I've seen DVC events occurring throughout the year and it's a wonderful opportunity -- especially this time when it is concurrent with our visit. Thank you, DVC 8-)!

We have a fall trip planned that falls outside of the dates. It is a little bit of a sadness knowing we will miss it.

Oh well... Hoping to do a weekend trip during the timeframe to pick up the goodies on offer...

I'm confused about the benefits... last year the character meet and greets required you to be staying at that resort (i.e. VB). Is that the same?

Also, the ice cream language was very strict as I recall last year - like if you wanted ice cream at SSR, you had to be staying at SSR or something to that effect.

Did they loosen it up this year?

Ooh, we’re staying at VWL Aug 10-18! Definitely will be taking part in a few of these offerings.

Funny, but not surprising, the 40% off restaurants are basically (exactly?) the same as they offered for AP V.I.P.assholder days. We’ll definitely be hitting up Whispering Canyon 👍
I would love to know how they came to the decisions of which restaurants to include... Some are odd within the context of DVC (Boatright and Toledo for example)...

Even more interesting to me is the Hollywood & Vine and Tusker House inclusions... tells me they may be pricing too high for character dining... In my personal view, they are, but I am not the ideal customer for character dinners...

If I recall correctly, while the restaurants are the same as the AP offers, the exact meal times have some slight variances between the DVC and AP offers. And, the dates are quite different as well obviously.
