My husband & I have owned DVC since 2005 & have never been to a "Welcome Home Wednesday." My question is...is it worth going? Will my kids (ages: 14-9-6) be disappointed in going? Is it worth carving out the time to go?

Think of it as a live infomercial for DVC. With cheap snacks and a free hat at the end. The kids could like it and if it's hot or rainy it's worth the price of admission --- free.

Not really free, our dues pay for all of the welcomes, mingles, and mixers.

They are designed to make us feel better about our purchase.

I live nearby this time of year and drop by a couple times to try and snag a freebie. So far all I've gotten is a few DVC caps and some lemonade. A few more caps and I'll open up a eBay store.

I went yesterday, it was lamer than ever. It's maybe the 4th time I've been in 10 years, and other years it was better. They didn't really say much about DVC, told me nothing I didn't already know. They played a few very lame games where the players each got a pin. The giveaways were a one year membership to Owner's Locker, a $25 Gift Card to Curl, a free single person parasailing, and a DVC Mug/flower arrangement from Disney Florist.

Everyone still gets a free hat. It was a different hat this year, but is paper thin, will not hold up, not as nice as the old hats. I heard no less than 6 different people on the way out say "that was a waste of an hour."

STILL, worth going if you've got an hour to kill and have never been. Just don't want you to expect too much.

Wow. The prizes have gotten crummy! A few years back my husband won a PhotoPass CD that was worth about $100. The next time we went the prizes were still very nice, but we didn't win anything so it was not nearly as much fun. I am not going to fret if we don't make it there in June. Sounds like it is not worth it!
