Has anyone been to any Welcome Home Wednesdays lately. We are going at the end of May and wanted to go to our first one. This will be our first DVC stay and we will be staying on our DPs at SSR.

Where does this event take place and what time does it start?

:confused3

Everyone needs to go to Welcome Home Wednesdays once in there DVC experience! The second time is clearly a personal choice. :confused3

It takes place on most Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. inside Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney's BoardWalk entertainment district.

It is basically an hour of information about all of the opportunities DVC offers in the form of interactive entertainment.

You get free stuff for showing up - hats, etc.

Have a good time.

I went to my second one a couple of weeks ago. My DFs were out shopping, I had some time to kill before they would be back, and it gave me something to do, we were staying at BWV. There were new questions to the game, so I learned a few things. If I were in the BW area, and had time on my hands, I would go again, but I know I'm not planning to go in either May or June when we're next at WDW.

Everyone got a coupon for a drink and a bag of chips/Cracker Jacks and at the end everyone got a blue DVC baseball cap. They did give some nice prizes, a couple of Photo Pass gift certificates...I think $125 each, and some gift certificates to restaurants, as well as a fair amount of DVC merchandise.

I believe we need to go. We were all set to go in March and when we were leaving I said to DW " we forgot to go to WHW!" I was disappointed.

If it is at the dance hall I will have no problem finding it. :banana:You can see it from the boat. I am excited. Who knows I may learn something:woohoo:

I was picked to be a contestant last month and it was fun. I won a DVC duffel bag, pin and cap. Everyone got DVC baseball caps as they left. That's me in the purple!
You should do it once. After that, I'd say it's a good place to kill an hour in the hot weather but I wouldn't change plans or leave a park to do it.

If you'll have rather young little ones or even not so young kids in your group WHWs is really not where they'll want to be ( probably not where most adults want to be either :rotfl:). As other poster said, worth stopping in if you happen to be in BWV area but not something to plan day around.

Can I ask....what kind of questions do they ask in those trivia games? Disney park questions? DVC questions? Questions about Walt? Thanks!

Hey, if not anything else, you get a nice Hat and Cracker Jacks. Worth a visit once a year anyway.

All of the above. Plus, it's in fun, not fairness. You can get points for knowing an answer, not knowing an answer, looking contrite or happy. You can lose points at the whim of the moderator. Every one of the contestants wins a prize bag. They are given out in the order of highest to lowest points.

We went in February, didn't receive a hat but a calendar instead. Had a great time. :thumbsup2

Deevy See was the hostess of the show. The questions were DVC &/or Disney related. The audience gets to answer any questions that the contestants get wrong or don't know. At one point, they locked out our buzzers so we couldn't answer. I guess they wanted to make it look like we didn't know the answer so the audience could try it. Deevy See gave us each bonus points so it ended up being a 4 way tie. We all got the same gift.

Afterward, there were door prizes. Several bags were available and, if your name was called, you got to pick one of them. They all had DVC merchandise in them. There was also a gift basket raffled off and 2 Photopass packages.

We went once. I would not go if you aren't already in the area and if you have anything better to do.

It is kind of cute but really cheesy. I guess it's nice to get a free ball cap or such but in my personal opinion not worth the time. Disney is a very professional corporation offering some of the best entertainment value in many instances, but this effort is just not up to par. Even the information offered at the session isn't all that earth shattering. But then, for those of us that spend a lot of time on the dis boards we probably get more than average information from the boards.

So...go if it is convenient....don't feel bad if you miss it.

Thanks for all the great info. it looks great. I am excited to go and experience the event. Thanks for the picture really awesome. I would love to see more from anybody. I can't wait.:cool1::banana:

We went a couple weeks ago. We too received the blue hats, popcorn and lemonade. I was glad we went. DH was excited to get the hat! lol. The best part, for us, was afterwards walking over to Beaches and Cream and getting "the Kitchen Sink"!! Now that is something that is for sure worth doing at least once!!! "A WHOLE CAN OF WHIPCREAM!":rotfl2:

Agreed! I'm lactose intolerant so I only had a few bites but watching my family dig in was so worth it.

We're going to Orlando in November with friends and they want to do Welcome Home Wednesday. They are not DVC members but may be interested.
Would they be allowed in with us?

I believe they're welcome. Either way, you'll have to show your blue DVC card to enter.
Both my wife and i had our cards, when in actuality, only one of us needed to show it.
