welcome home wednesdays

We were wondering this same thing? Are they like the DVC gatherings on teh cruise line with free girfts and raffles?

I went in May. They played a quiz game and each of the 4 folks who got selected to play the game got a gift like an umbrella or towel. Everyone got a DVC hat when they left.

They do give lemonaide, popcorn, cracker jacks.

In my opinion, it is only worth going to if you are in the Boardwalk area at that time and have nothing else to do.

They are more of an infomercial. If you want to spend an hour listening to information on DVC and get a free gift at the end, you should go. Generally they give out baseball hats, but we did get a bag in August. There is a game that 4 people play -- like jeopardy. Plus there are door prizes, generally about 4. We stay at the BWV alot, so always zip over for the freebies. We'll be there this Wednesday as we arrive around noon. It's alway fun to see Miss Dee Vee Cee.

Agree with those who say that it is worth it if you don't hae anything else to do at that time. Went to the one in September the day after the official BLT announcement. They played the game while everyone enjoyed the lemonade and snacks. (I did get a laugh out of the older man on a motorized scooter who filled his basket in front with crackerjacks and popcorn. He had enough for several people for a week by the time he finished. They simply made the announcement that someone would be available after the meeting to answer questions about BLT but there was no discussion about it otherwise. It was fun but not something I plan to do every trip.

Hey, I was at the same WHW!

I actually enjoyed WHW. I am a new DVC member and totally obsessed, so it was nice being somewhere I didn't feel totally crazy for this obsession. It was fun (although I wish I had been picked for a prize, since DVC merchandise is scarce anywhere else except ebay).

I would go back, but probably only if in the area around that time, because it might be difficult to get to otherwise. We were staying at the BCV and my cousins got to swim at SAB while I headed over to the Boardwalk. We then had ADRs in Japan at 6pm, so it worked out nicely.

Went to the WHW this trip and my DH won the huge blue and white DVC beach towel that converts to a bag. He was selected to play the jeopardy game. We were there on 10/29. Got the blue baseball caps as our member gifts for coming.

I wonder if they will have WHW on NYE?

We usually try to go, if we have time. When we were there in early October, my husband was chosen as one of the contestants in the "game show" they have. It was alot of fun! He(along w/the other 3 contestants) were awarded w/a travel bag full of DVC goodies--they also give away door prizes in a drawing. All those in attendance were given DVC caps.

We've gone and really enjoyed it! Plan to do again in December.

What types of questions do they ask? Are they DVC related or Disney related or other?

The questions are DVC related and designed in such away to give everyone DVC information. Its nice there is no sales pitch.
