Welcome home - Live trip report!

Can I ask how come you fly with delta to Atlanta and then change rather than virgin direct? Just looking at out next flights at the minute x

Cost! Got the delta flights from Travelocity.com for £1850 for four adults, no one else came close to that and I think VA were £600-£700 at the time. We later upgraded to economy comfort on delta site but it was still cheaper than VA economy.

I've been wanting WPE meatloaf and mash since I read your your trip report! So good we went twice for it and had a lovely breakfast there one morning after using our early morning voucher on Characters in Flight :thumbsup2

We can't understand why the mash and fries are so darn good here! We invented them right? But they're fantastic here. Is it the potatoes? Don't know but we're gonna miss them next week!

Hope you enjoyed Teppan Edo as much as we did, I know who to look out for now:thumbsup2 I still have to hold DDs hand on Harry Potter, she hates spiders too.

Yes Teppan Edo was fantastic! Sat with two other couples who were both from Montreal but weren't together, it was just a coincidence. They spoke mainly in French to each other but the woman nearest to us did chat to us and was very nice. Food was fab, our chef was Japanese and came from Pensecola. Mm. At least we didn't struggle with his accent lol!

Friday 6th Sept

We started the day by heading to the Studios but went to Premium outlets AGAIN for DH a top, and stopped at a Publix as we were passing so we don't need to go to Walmart again!

Got to the studios just after lunch and as it was so hot opted to wait in the 40 min line for Toy Story Mania just to be in the air con. It was more like an hour by the time we got on, mainly as the scooters and pushchairs are streamed off to a ramp to an area where two cars are pulled off to load the slower people. We had to wait for the cm's to adapt one on the cars to a wheelchair accessible vehicle, which they did quickly and very well. It was a good ride (I won) but not worth a long wait. At least we had done it so didn't have to wait til 7 for fast pass. We then went for lunch at ABC Commissary and the heavens opened, the skies had been black and foreboding so it wasn't unexpected. Thunder was pretty loud too, and the rain was bouncing. Once it had eased a little we headed to backlot tour but it was off due to the continuing lightning, so great movie ride it was and it was virtually a walk on. The rain was on again when we came out so decided to head back to OKW to pack the majority of our things before dinner. It web surprisingly well and we got everything in and the heaviest was 18kg, def thought we'd struggle.

Got ready for dinner at Teppan Edo at 8.30pm and it was still raining but not as heavy. After dinner the kids headed to test track and we went in MouseGear for a few more gifts. Kids were ages and we didn't leave the park until 11.45pm, it was an 11pm close.

we're at MK for a few hours , then hope to try main pool. Have a great day.

Hi all, final time updating stateside, had our last full day today and heading home tomorrow.

Saturday 7th Sept

Started the day with breakfast at Chef Mickey's which was great fun with great character interaction with my two older teenagers, once again I wondered how much my two would get into it but they enjoyed it all! It was a drizzly, misty start to the day but we headed into MK anyway. The kids went off on their own to do the sorcerers and pirates things, which they loved and wished they'd started them last week. Me and DH did big thunder, haunted mansion, and the people mover on our own, stopping for a coke float in adventureland on the way. We met up with the kids in Columbia harbour house for a late lunch which was lovely. We ate here years ago and liked it then. DD had salmon with cous cous and broccoli, DH had lobster roll which was huge, DS had chicken nuggets and I had clam chowder as I wasn't that hungry. The cm taking the orders told the couple in front of us that they could swap desserts for drinks or snacks so that's what we did, although DH managed to squeeze in the cobbler dessert!

We decided to do the train from Main Street as the skies darkened and the thunder rumbled behind us. Got up the ramp to the train when they made everyone already boarded get off as it can't run in lightening. As we neared the en of the ramp back down the heavens opened and the quickest/heaviest rain we've ever seen came down! It was bouncing back up like mist so we sat on a trunk in the under station area for around half an hour, maybe more. Eventually the rain eased off and we went upstairs to wait for the train to run an empty circuit and them we did a full tip round on it, with slightly soggy bums as the seats were soaked!

Left after that as it was now 5.30 and MK closing at 7 so we wanted to get out before that. Saw lots of church groups with wrist bands on so assume they were in for the night of joy thing?! It started to rain again as we got to the monorail so drove back to OKW to finish off the packing before heading to the grand Floridian, DD wanted to see it as we've never ever visited it, and she might get married there one day she said ha ha! Eventually found it despite the sat nav trying to take me in the service way, that's 3 times it's told me to go in the service/cast member entrances! Had the counter device at Gasparilla Grill and it was very good, DH and DS had burgers, I had chicken quesadilla and DD had the create your own pasta dish. Really nice. Next was Fantasia Gardens for crazy golf, the first to,e we've had a chance to play, and we had such a laugh, a few balls went into hedges, thankfully none went in the water this time (mine did last time we played here!) but we were held up a few times by the group in front of us who were drinking on the way round. On the 15th tee the desk man came around and basically told them and us to hurry up as it was after 11, so we felt the last few holes were spoiled. The group were still sitting adding scores up and not looking like they were going anywhere anytime soon as we drove away!

Back to OKW to double check everything before Ohana in the morning, and to try to sleep before the epic journey home!

Also wanted to say today felt as though there were a lot of South American families and large South American family groups who don't seem to have any concept of personal space or the space needed to steer a mobility scooter around the park. They also don't acknowledge you if you step aside to let them through, no thanks or anything. I've never encountered this before despite reading on here about the groups, but mainly that's been about teenagers.

Anyway, next chat should be from the other side of the Atlantic!
Xx

Thanks for your fab trip report, really enjoyed it and can't wait to be there myself very soon. Safe trip home :goodvibes

Hi guys,

Sadly we're back home!

Sunday 8th Sept

We were all up and out early, dropped cases at our bell services as we would get rid of the car after breakfast, and headed to the Poly. Luckily I didn't take any 'detours' this time so made it there pretty quickly. I'm amazed how close most things are to OKW, very handy for the main stuff and actually not that far from Universal/Seaworld. I think last time we went I was scared of the I4 so used IDrive which always seemed to take forever, this time it's 8 years later and I do all the driving now at home due to DH disability so much more used to traffic etc.

Ohana didn't feel too busy and we didn't wait long to be seated. We got the cooked breakfast and Mickey waffles and some good character interaction. However, we were all underwhelmed by the breakfast as we thought the sausages were a little spicy for our liking and the potatoes were really salty. Also where was the cinnamon toast thing you used to get?? (Tonga toast? can't remember the name but do remember the taste!) This was my main reason for booking here so was disappointed not to get it. We left here and drove straight into the Hess garage to full up with petrol, $30 dollars filled the car so total fuel costs were $86 and we did around 600 miles we think. Drove into the Alamo drop off centre and were met by a man who scanned our key, checked the car and said to wait for the shuttle bus. As easy as that! Waited around 10 mins and were taken back to OKW where we checked out, paid our bill (ouch - kids charged to room, frequently!) - actually it wasn't as bad as we thought at $1200 as we expected $1500 for tips and shopping.

Waited for DME pick up at 12.50pm in the lounge, nice air con, and kids had a sleep while waiting. I went to Goods to Go and collected 4 wraps, 4 cookies but didn't get any drinks, to take to the airport with us. The shuttle was a little early and we were at the airport just after 1.30pm. How easy is Orlando airport? Everything felt close by with not much walking about, and as I was pushing DH in a wheelchair, this was a bonus. Boarded first and had a good flight to Atlanta, on time and smooth. Had 3 hours to kill in Atlanta so kids had burgers and we had a look in the shops, buying a Samsonite carry on spinner case to decant our smaller back packs into. Boarded the Manchester flight first again, and we were soon on our way. Good flight with a little turbulance over New England/Nova Scotia area but it was fine. I actually managed to grab a few hours sleep and woke with 2 hours to go as DD had woken feeling hot and dizzy, think it's a bug as she's been hot since and is usually a great traveller. Landed in Manchester just before 10 and was in the car an hour later, home by 1pm. Great time to get home as we got everything unpacked and sorted out, kids had a sleep this afternoon and woke for tea. I'm trying to do photopass thing now but struggling, maybe I'm just over tired! Will post more pics in next few days.

Oh and TSA opened a case again, we think it was because we had a Tower of Terror Clue (Cluedo) tin in that one lol! We also got Haunted Mansion Game of life!

Thanks for following, it's been great and we really want to go back soon!

:goodvibes

Glad you had a good trip :)

Ohana serves cinnamon bread when you first enter - never had toast there. (Or they did in July) I love the cinnamon bread! The pineapple bread is ok too.

Great TR. Have loved catching up with your last few days.
Hope you are all back in the swing of things now and you have managed to sort out your Photo Pass pictures.

Still trying with photopass! Can see the ride and park pictures and the disney stock pics but can't access the two character breakfast pics we had put on photopass - anyone know how I can do this??

Also, when we were at Chef Mickeys the photo lady came round with our pic and charged us $30+ for the pic, we paid as thought this was normal. It's only now that I realised our Akershus pic and Ohana pic were included on photopass+. Think I will email disney to see if I can get a refund but I doubt they can add it to photopass now.
