Welcome, Foolish Mortals...to an October 2011 PTR! *Trip Report link is up, pg 71!!*

I completely understand your weight loss frustration since I have to struggle with mine, too. I really do think the key is finding something that works for you. I have tried so many diets and was unsuccessful on them. I would do really good for a month or two and lose a little but then I'd get either bored or tired of it and I'd quit. I find that with programs like WW, things that have meal plans and counting calories make me become obsessive until they just wear me out and I feel like I have to stop because it's all that I think about! I hate having to plan out my meals and tally things up and feeling like I can't go out to dinner, since that's one of my favorite pastimes. :rolleyes1

My journey with the South Beach diet has really been the only sucessful one for me. Since I started I've lost about 50 pounds and if I could just lose about 10 more I think I'd be happy. However, I haven't really followed the diet for probably a year. I now just try to make good choices. Like, I will never eat white bread if wheat is available. Same thing with brown rice, and luckily a lot of restaurants carry those things. I also refuse to drink my calories since I'd rather eat them! :lmao: So no juices, no regular sodas, etc. I could really do better and drink more water, but hey, one thing at a time, right? I'm not a big fan or exercising, but I've found that I have to do it to lose. For me, the difference between just eating well and eating well and exercising at least 3 times a week is 2 pounds.

Sorry to write so much, but with two weeks left until the wedding weight loss is really on my mind! My point is pretty much, find something that will work for you long-term that will not take over your life and still allow you to do things that you love (be it cooking, going out to restaurants, etc.) And most importantly, don't give up! You can do it and you will! :goodvibes

I'm glad that June is finally here, but I'm not too eager to wish the summer away just yet. I work in a school, so I am off for the summer until mid August! I'm looking forward to that! :)

I think your plan to accomplish one new thing in each park is totally doable! There is sooooo much I want to do this trip that I'm a little worried that I won't be able to get it all in!

I agree, Jungle Cruise at night is the way to go. FotLK is probably my favorite show at Disney World. Gotta love those tumble monkeys. B&tB is a fun show, too, but not nearly as air-conditioned as FotLK. I've never seen Reflections of China, either. Isn't that the one without seats?

All sounds great, love having lists of things we must do and you got some great ones there too :)

I am having the same struggles myself... I am at my heaviest weight ever and I don't know what to do!! Ok I do know what to do, but its really difficult like you said, I end up going back and forth a ton!! I am also trying to get back into my running, motivation has escaped me yet again - I am hoping to start fresh tomorrow morning (I say that every Monday :rotfl:) Have you been doing the C25K still? We need to support each other in our Disney weight loss struggles...so we can feel great on our fall trips :goodvibes

On a happier note..looking at your lists of things you want to try that are new to you. I think you made awesome picks from the lists for this year. I have never done the Reflections of China...but I LOVE Jungle Cruise...its a must do for me on every trip. Beauty and the Beast show is beautiful - not something you need to do every time but I think everyone should see it at least once (It helps that Belle is my favorite princess :rotfl:). Also the Lion King show was something I really wasn't interested in seeing and was very impressed by :thumbsup2

I love your idea of doing a new attraction in each park! And I definitely absolutely recommend the Jungle Cruise, it's hilarious! If you've never done the Backlot Tour, it's pretty interesting, but its repeatability seems to be debatable (me: not so much on every trip; DBF: when are we going on the Backlot Tour?)

Ahhh...Losing weight. It used to be easy for me, but not so much anymore. Before I went to Disney I bought this book. I really like it. Its got sample meal plans, but more importantly, its got the exercise you need to do to boost your metabolic rate.

http://www.amazon.com/2-Week-Total-...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307293565&sr=1-1

I did the two weeks and then went back and did them again. My mistake was that I did the cardio as all running. Its not meant to be that way. So I actually over exercised and got sick. But if you do it as written YOU WILL lose weight, plus you will feel better about your level of fitness. And if you can't do a reall push up (which I can't), keep doing the modified ones.

Jen,
Don't get too discouraged about losing weight. Just take things one day at a time. That's really the only way to do it.

Sorry I haven't been on board for a while. Too many things going on with family, but I'm back now. :goodvibes

Your plans are great. Love the dining choices that you've made. Great picks if I do say so myself.

Always good to have a to do list (which reminds me I need to start working on mine).

I just finished reading your PTR and I have to comment on the missed attractions.
In MK if you can I suggest also going to Monsters INC. Comedy Club(a little cheesy but cute and funny).
In DHS absolutely Beauty and the Beast :thumbsup2, I love this show, I feel like singing along whenever I see it, my husband and son don't get so excited about it but oh well ;).
In AK I also love It's Tough to be a Bug.
It seems in Epcot your not missing anything too exciting but reflections of China is pretty.
I recently read a review on the DIS of Artist Point and the food there looks and sounds amazing. It's someplace I would really like to go to next time I visit WDW, so i hope you are able to go and tell us all about it.:goodvibes

Just read and got caught up with your entire report, We will be traveling in Oct as well 22-30. Im loving your plans and look forward to more :cool1:

I'm excited that it's June too, because I leave in TWO DAYS!

Sorry, I'm about to burst with excitement over here! :hyper:

I'm sorry you're struggling with your weight loss. Why is it that it's so darn easy to gain wait but so hard to lose it? That is one the mysteries of life. :confused3 Hang in there, I know you can do it! And not to be cheesy and quote Christina Aguilera, but you are beautiful anyway, so don't worry yourself too much about it!

I'm so glad you did TSM on your last trip! That is seriously one of the coolest rides ever!

You have to do Jungle Cruise! We did it for the first time in December and loved it! It has that "classic Disney" feel to it like POTC and HM. :goodvibes

FOTLK is SO much fun! I have only seen that show twice but I LOVED it! I would definitely recommend it over Finding Nemo. Don't get me wrong, I love Nemo, but that big blue world song from the musical gets stuck in my head and drives me nuts. :rotfl:

I'm over the moon that it's June too! That means only one more month until July when I'm going back :p

Keep your chin up about the weight loss. It's all mind over matter. You can do it if you set your mind to it. Don't get upset over 1 pound here or there. If you set your mind to it, you can do anything! Keep up the healthy eating and exercise. Forget about the numbers. If you feel good about yourself than that's all that matters  :thumbsup2

You haven't done Jungle Cruise??? It's so much fun.... as long as you get a good Skipper. Some are better than others. If your sides don't hurt from laughing when you get off the first time, go on again to get a different skipper. I swear the skipper makes the ride.

So jealous that you're going back next month!! :cool1: Although I'm not sure I could handle the July heat, but still, I'd rather be in Disney in July than stuck at work!

I'm trying really hard at losing weight this week. It's just so frustrating going through the weeks and not seeing anything happen. I wish I felt good about myself from just eating right and exercising, but I need to see results!

I'm pretty sure I've done the Jungle Cruise a long time ago, on a family trip, and I don't remember it at all! I hope we get a good skipper! :rotfl:

I completely understand your weight loss frustration since I have to struggle with mine, too. I really do think the key is finding something that works for you. I have tried so many diets and was unsuccessful on them. I would do really good for a month or two and lose a little but then I'd get either bored or tired of it and I'd quit. You can do it and you will! :goodvibes

I'm glad you wrote so much, you gave me a lot to think about! :thumbsup2

I wish I could just eat ok and exercise and lose weight, but I can't be trusted. :rotfl: I'm not disciplined enough yet to just make good choices and not portion everything out and count every little calorie or point! I hope to get to be able to do that someday, because I can't stand obsessing about everything that I eat and writing it all down, but it's seriously the only thing that works for me!

I have to exercise too, I just have to. :confused3 I can lose weight by just doing WW the first couple of weeks, but then I need to add exercise. I hate doing it, but at the same time, I really want to get in shape! And now that it's getting hot, it's even harder to want to exercise! :sad2: I don't know. I just have to do really good this week, hope I lose a couple of pounds, and then hopefully that will motivate me to keep going. If not, I might just join WW meetings, because I don't want to spend money on them, so at least if I know I'm spending money, I'll do what I'm supposed to since I'd hate to waste it!

I know what you mean, I don't want to wish the summer away either, since my DH will be home at night, but...I really want to be at Disney World too! :yay:

LOL, it's hard trying to fit everything in to one trip! That's why you have to keep going back!

I'll definitely do the Jungle Cruise at night, then, if it's that much better! I wonder if you can go on during MNSSHP? I think it's closed during the Christmas parties, but I can't remember.

I'm so excited to finally see FOTLK, after missing it last year! I think Reflections of China is like Canada, no seats, but I might be wrong. I'd like to see it, since I really like the movies in Canada and France!

subbing to read tomorrow...
we will be at WDW in October, too !

:welcome: Thanks for joining! Lots of DISers going in October! :)

All sounds great, love having lists of things we must do and you got some great ones there too :)

Thanks! I hope to knock a few things off of our list, it's always fun trying new attractions! :thumbsup2

I am having the same struggles myself... I am at my heaviest weight ever and I don't know what to do!! Ok I do know what to do, but its really difficult like you said, I end up going back and forth a ton!! Also the Lion King show was something I really wasn't interested in seeing and was very impressed by :thumbsup2

LOL, I know what to do too, but it's sooo hard! I'm fine during the day at work, I bring nice, healthy things to eat at work, and I'm ok, but once I get home, it's so hard for me not to eat everything in sight! How did you do today?

I am still doing the C25K, I just started the 3rd week today, it's SO hard! I'm ok with the running the first couple of times, but when I get to the last few intervals, my legs are in soooo much pain! Hey, since you're a runner, do you have any advice on how to push through that? Do I need different sneakers? Because mine aren't running shoes :rolleyes1 but will they make that much of a difference? Do I just have to hope I'll get used to it? Because it makes me not want to do another day of this, and I really want to finish, but OMG my legs ache!

Belle is my favorite princess too, so I think I'd really like the Beauty and the Beast show! I don't need to do it on every trip, but I'd like to see it at least once! And I think FOTLK will be great!

I'm definitely going to try the Jungle Cruise this trip! I love Adventureland, I always spend lots of time there in MK, so I have no excuse not to go on it at least once! I did the Backlot Tour a long time ago, when I was a kid, but I've heard it's a lot different now, which makes me not really want to see what they did to it! I loved it when I was little, Catastrophe Canyon was so cool!

Hi! I'm also so excited that it is June!!

Don't beat yourself up about the weight - if you are upping your excercise it may take a while before the weight drops as muscle will be built and stored. That's what our WW leader tells us! I've been so bad recently as well - can't get myself in the right frame of mind.

Love the list! It just shows that no matter how many times you go to Disney World you still have attractions that you can come back for! ;)

I can't wait to watch Beauty and the Beast and FOTLK!! I was going to cover them in the afternoon but may take your advice of doing them first thing! :thumbsup2

Hope you have a great weekend as well!

LOL, my friends at work told me the same thing, that I was probably gaining muscle...I don't believe it! :rotfl2: I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, but...17 weeks...I'm not really going to look much different in 17 weeks if I don't get serious about this once and for all! I'm thinking of just sucking it up and paying for the WW meetings, even though I really don't want to.

You can definitely do the shows in the afternoon, but when it came time for us to do them, we were too tired to sit and watch shows, we were nervous we would fall asleep! :rotfl: And I never wanted to wait around for them to start, I was ready to go back to the resort by then! That's why I'm going to do them first thing this year, get them done with and out of the way!

Sounds like great plan of what you want to do in the parks that you still haven't done yet. Beauty and the Beast Musical is my FAV show!!! love it! We always see it when we go

FOTKL is also great :) We always watch that show as well when we go to AK

Your weight loss goal is great! You can do it!!! I have a hard time getting the weight off of myself, and muscle weighs more than fat.. so don't beat yourself up over it! You are probably gaining muscle, not fat!!! You will see the results soon and feel better about it all. Eating right and watching portions and exercising is key. It's what I do and I am slowly but surely lossing weight for our trip in september. YOU CAN DO IT!!! I have faith in ya girl :)

Thanks! I'm so excited to see Beauty and the beast, I love Belle and I love the songs so it should be fun!

I hope I'm gaining muscle, but I know my body, and I really don't think I am! I'm telling you, I have to be absolutely perfect to lose weight, if I'm not, my body lets me know it when I step on the scale! Ugh, it's so frustrating!! I think I've finally had enough though, and I'm ready to be serious. I'm glad you found something that works for you! :thumbsup2 I hope I see results soon!

I was just counting the weeks left until our trip myself. :) While I don't want to rush the summer away (but it is the busiest time of year for me and both jobs (kids out of school so I have longer days of babysitting and the summer reading program at the library is in full force), I love knowing that at the end of this crazy, hectic summer, we'll be heading off to WDW for a week of fun and relaxation!

I really recommend that you do the Jungle Cruise at night, it's awesome!

Beauty and the Beast is a good show, just not something I want to see over and over. I want to catch and AI show this year if possible, although I'm not sure it is.

FOTLK makes me tear up EVERYTIME. It's a must do for me!

I don't really have any tips on losing weight as I struggle myself. WW worked quite well for me in college but I just don't have the time to log everything I eat to track points.

I don't want to rush the summer away either, but like I said earlier, I'm so ready to be back in Disney! I think I need to take 2 trips a year, this once a year trip thing is killing me!  But yeah, I like knowing that after the summer, I have a Disney trip to look forward to! :woohoo:

I have no interest in the AI show, I don't know why! I've heard that it's good, and I kind of like AI on tv, but I don't think I'd want to sit through it at Disney World! My DH would never, I'd have to go alone if I wanted to see it! He'd probably ride RnRC over and over if I ever wanted to see it!

I don't really like keeping track of everything I eat either, it gets time consuming, but it's really the only thing that works for me. :confused3 Maybe once I start losing regularly I can stop and just rely on portion control, but until then, I have to do something strict! Ugh, it's so annoying!!! :rotfl2:

Thanks! I will definitely check out that book, it sounds awesome! :thumbsup2 I've been wondering what exercise is the best to do for losing weight, I figured running would be pretty good!

Jen,
Don't get too discouraged about losing weight. Just take things one day at a time. That's really the only way to do it.

Sorry I haven't been on board for a while. Too many things going on with family, but I'm back now.

Your plans are great. Love the dining choices that you've made. Great picks if I do say so myself.

Thanks! I'm trying not to get too down on myself, but it's hard not to. I just keep doing the same thing over and over, and I wonder when I'll ever snap out of it! Hopefully now, that I know I only have 17 more weeks to lose a decent amount of weight!

Glad you're back on the boards, I've missed your TR's! I'll join your new PTR as soon as I'm finished here!

Thanks, I'm really excited about our ADR's too, can't wait for Artist Point! :thumbsup2

Always good to have a to do list (which reminds me I need to start working on mine).

LOL, yeah, I love making lists for Disney trips! :) It's nice to have an idea of the things you have never done so you can see new things on each trip!

I just finished reading your PTR and I have to comment on the missed attractions.
In MK if you can I suggest also going to Monsters INC. Comedy Club(a little cheesy but cute and funny).
In DHS absolutely Beauty and the Beast :thumbsup2, I love this show, I feel like singing along whenever I see it, my husband and son don't get so excited about it but oh well
In AK I also love It's Tough to be a Bug.

:welcome: Thanks for the advice! :woohoo: I'd like to see the Monsters Inc show, but I've actually never seen the movie :rolleyes1 so we always skip it! I'm nervous about seeing It's Tough to be a Bug, since I'm deathly afraid of bees...there's bees in that, right? :rotfl:

I think I will like Reflections of China, the other movies are really pretty, so I would assume China would be as well!

I can't wait for Artist Point! I'm thinking of doing a full dining review for this trip, so I should have some good details!

Just read and got caught up with your entire report, We will be traveling in Oct as well 22-30. Im loving your plans and look forward to more :cool1:

:welcome: Thanks for reading! I wish I was going at the end of October, but our pin didn't cover the dates we wanted, so we settled for the beginning! Now I'm happy we're going earlier, because I would have never made it to the end of October, I'm already so anxious for September to get here!

I'm excited that it's June too, because I leave in TWO DAYS!

Sorry, I'm about to burst with excitement over here! :hyper:

I'm sorry you're struggling with your weight loss. Why is it that it's so darn easy to gain wait but so hard to lose it? 2 DAYS!! :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: I'm so excited for you guys, you're going to have the best time at AKL! Send me lots of texts and pics! :goodvibes

LOL I just asked Brandon that same question yesterday! Why do I have no problem gaining weight, but can't seem to lose it? :confused3 I know I can lose it, but I lack serious motivation right now...I'm trying to fake it for the time being, until I see some results and find my actual motivation again, if that makes sense!

I can't wait to do the Jungle Cruise! I remember being on the boat when I was younger, on a trip with my family but I don't remember anything else! :confused3 I love doing the classic Disney rides! And FOTLK looks amazing, I'm sure I will be crying during it, like a dork!

I don't like that Big Blue World song either...is that in the Seas with Nemo too? It's on my 4 Parks 1 World cd's and I always skip it! :rotfl:

Losing weight stinks! I always get sooooo discouraged when I weigh myself and don't see the results I expect. I finally had to ban myself from weigh-ins (but still worked out)!

I've been slowly gaining since our trip and have lost all desire to exercise- I'm just always so tired... ugh, this was me venting, and so not motivating for you- sorry!!!

I hope you get to do more of your never-done stuff this trip! You'll see that Ben and I tackled quite a few of ours.

"Was so cool," sadly, is now pretty descriptive when it comes to the Backlot Tour. You used to be able to see a lot more, and now it's mainly unused props. Catastrophe Canyon is still there, but I definitely remember it being more epic when I was little too. (But that could also be a matter of perspective ). The tours are also not narrated by a real person anymore, it's an audio track (same as Living with the Land), which does help in some aspects (I remember many a Backlot Tour not being able to hear a single word the narrator was saying), but does take away that personal touch.

Thanks! I will definitely check out that book, it sounds awesome! :thumbsup2 I've been wondering what exercise is the best to do for losing weight, I figured running would be pretty good!

Any cardio is good (not just running, but brisk walking), but this book also teaches you a bunch of resistance wt training exercises. It uses the principle of muscle confusion, so you burn more calories. I'm back at it again! You're young - you still have a metabolism, unlike me. I bet if you put the exercise in your weight loss program you would start to see the results you are looking for. You just can't get discouraged because exercise is NOT fun when you first start it. You have to be very patient, but once you start seeing the results its easier to do.

I did not start like I said I would! I went out for Mexican food and margaritas on Sunday which set me up for a hangover and bad eating on Monday :headache:

I had to get running shoes and they helped me a ton...I ended up with a stress fracture in my right big toe area after running a race in the wrong type of sneakers. I found a running store near my house and went there...they watched the way I walked/jogged and fit me for a pair of sneakers. I wasn't too excited about buying a new pair of shoes for working out, but they have really helped. I still kept my other sneakers for the rare occasion when I go to the YMCA and take classes like Zumba :goodvibes

My friends always yell at me because I dont really ever stretch either :headache: So sometimes my legs get really tight/sore...not sure if its the lack of stretching or the fact that I go out once in a blue moon and haven't kept up a regular pattern yet :lmao: They say keeping hydrated and eating right helps with that too...but one step at a time I have to get myself out of bed first :rotfl:
