When will it end???

Ditto much of what has already been said.

Here's a thought...

Why not turn this around and have Dame Doris focus instead on the positive? Give us tips, photos and commentary on appropriate (as in comfortable & tasteful) outfits to wear to WDW. Try providing useful information on park fashions, such as where to find comfortable walking shoes and sandals that look good too... or nice, neat clothing options like capris and skorts that will allow one to keep cool & comfy while still looking nice and thoughtfully put together.

I think you will find that people are more receptive to receiving tips on how to dress well, and seeing photos of really nice fashion choices. Dame Doris could even take it one step further, and search out online clothing sales items which are similar to a chosen 'Perfect Park Outfit' each week. Inform us, and help us to find those great apparel options to wear on our next visit to WDW. Rather than being so critical of people's fashion faux pas, why not make Dame Doris's column a fun and informative place that can help us to prepare for our Disney vacation. :flower:

I think you have a great idea! If they have to do something like this, why not turn it into a positive and give helpful suggestions rather than humiliating innocent people! After all, everyone's tastes differ - that's what makes the world go round. :flower:

I can't believe you'd even think the color of that blanket goes well with your dog's fur. I mean, talk about clashing! What will the other dogs think?! :rotfl:

I like fashion faux pas articles (Glamour Dos and Don'ts, US Weekly Fashion Police, etc.), but that Dame Doris one isn't even funny or cleverly written. :confused3

It's almost like Dame Doris is a lame knock-off of Mr. Blackwell. At least Mr. Blackwell has some humor; Dame Doris is just mean. And Mr. Blackwell goes after celebrities, who willingly place themselves in front of the public and the cameras wearing some outlandish outfits. These people were snapped without knowing they would end up as the lame punch-line on a web site joke. :sad2:

Count me as another one who thinks this was a bad idea. Childish and just plain mean.

(and when I looked at the picture of the lime green outfit - I thought what's so bad about that? :confused3 )

Hey MB, don't you know that dogs are color blind and must rely on their owners to make sure they don't make fashfools out of themselves? Come on, fess up MB, I know you chose that blanket.

I think a lot of the mods had nothing to do with this new person. It was as much a surprise to you as it was to us.

Welcome Dame Doris :goodvibes !! I hope your stay on the DIS is as enjoyable as mine. You have already caused a pretty big commotion(which I think is what you were after in the first place). I think humor is like literature...All subject to interpretation. Again, :flower: WELCOME :flower:

I've been here a long time, and I am very, very disappointed in this development.

Mocking a person's appearance is cruel and not funny.

This is NOT a "what to wear at the parks" column, like what you would find on Deb Wills' site. That is helpful and informative.

Doris may be an old friend of Pete's, but her column is in poor taste, and poorly written.

The professionals know that there's a fine line between good humor and bad humor. Doris clearly does not understand this difference.

I sincerely hope her first column is her last.

84 posts on this thread and less than ten of them are positive for the Dame. I say it's a waste of webspace and Doris should just DISappear.

Another serious vote of no confidence for Dame Doris and whoever made the decision to bring her onboard. I thought the boards were here for help and advice not personal judgements. Very DISsapointed in the bad vibes in her first article

One more thought. I hope this is a big con and these pictures are actually volunteers.

All this DISsention in the ranks and not ONE post from WebmasterPete defending their decision (or apologizing and giving Doris the boot).

I cannot believe this kind of childish, immature, offensive, condescending and elitist crud is part of the DIS. Thank goodness, if Doris stays, her column will only be readable by those who subscribe to the newsletter...which I HONESTLY was about subscribe to yesterday. Now I will absolutely not bother unless she is removed permanently.

You're right about it not being funny.

One more thing. The little story about the guy in the Miller Beer T-shirt. When I first looked at it it was bad but now it seems to have been changed and is MUCH worse then it was to start.

I think we deserve to know exactly who decided that posting pictures like these, with the acidic comments, was funny and derserving of being sent to over 60,000 people world wide.

Do it once, shame on me. Do it twice, shame on you. [paraphrased from old saying]
