Welcome Dame Doris to the DIS TEAM!! =0)

Dame Doris won't be getting a welcome from me. I thought the tone of her "report" was just plain mean. Who is she? What gives her the authority to pick on other people's fashion choices? :confused3

Admittedly, I have done a double take and given a few eye rolls when I've seen what others have chosen to wear to one of the parks, but a Disney-themed website doesn't seem like the place to comment about it.

All the hype and all we got was "self-proclaimed fashionista"??? Major bummer! :sad2:

I guess personal attacks are only allowed on the DIS if they are started by the webmasters and they block out your face..... :confused3 :confused3

I wonder if "Dame Doris" would be willing to post some of her pictures and provide DIS-ers an opportunity to critique her alleged fashion sense. Somehow, given what was posted, I seriously doubt this would happen. Sadly, it seems to be all about "do as I say, not as I do." :sad2:

I'm really quite shocked about this and feel it's completely inappropriate. Sure, the faces aren't shown, but everyone knows their body and would recognize themselves in a second. And it would be heartbreaking to see that they are being made fun of. Let me tell you a story. In college, I was in a sorority and every year we had a National Photography Company come and take professional composite pictures. I will never forget my second year getting my picture taken when I saw they were using my previous year's picture to show the "before" and "after" on how their wonderful technology could get rid of my pimples and blemishes - I had never been so horrified and devestated in my life - that was an area that I was always embarrassed about to begin - and no they never asked my permission. This picture was being shown around the country. Now, we are on another national forum where the same thing to happen to someone else. I thought this forum was supposed to be helpful to people and a gathering place for those who have a common love - Disney. I think Walt would turn in his grave if he saw this.

She can't be all bad... after all, she's an Ed Robertson fan!!!!!

Everybody needs to lighten up a little bit!!! Everything in life is not meant to be taken so seriously!

What a great way to turn people off.

Not very welcoming at all.

I am very DISappointed.

All that build up for this? I agree with the others who have posted that this is just mean spirited and childish. Definitely not something I'm interested in participating in.

What happened to "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"? I love the Dis because it is NOT the same as the rest of the magazines or web sites you can find. Here people care about each other and kindness and respect are important. Not everyone can be "fashonable" but everyone should be treated with respect. I am disappointed. I never ever thought I would think that about this site!

I find it obnoxious. I hope this goes away.

The DIS has dropped many, many notches in my esteem.

File this under W for "what were they thinking?".

Imagine if one of the pictures that she posts is of a Dis member, and even though the face is blocked out, that member recognizes his or herself and realizes that he or she is the butt of the joke. I haven't been here very long, but I have to say that I find this very mean and inappropriate. I'm really shocked that the moderators are allowing this.

I think what I object to the most is the photo of the "offender" It's one thing for us to have a thread about some of the inappropriate or bad clothing we have seen at the parks, but to provide pictorial evidence..I just am so uncomfortable with that.

I appreciate your point of view, and I really tried not to be overly sensitive about it all, but I am really not impressed with Dame Doris. Being picked upon for the way you dress is really no fun, ask any kid at school today.

Oh for the love of...

NOT COOL, DIS. Not cool at all.

No welcome from me either. :sad2:

How many of us are going to walk around the parks now, watching for cameras pointed in our direction? My DIL is blind and obese, and sometimes her clothes don't match very well, and I'd be crushed to see her picture there with cruel remarks about her fashion errors.

It's cruel, and far below anything I thought the DIS stood for.

I am sad that such a thing would be tolerated on this board, much less promoted.

It is mean spirited and so completely un-disney like - making fun of what people wear, and how they look, and where they come from.

Its just - hurtful and hateful.

I totally agree. We try so hard to teach our children to accept other people for who they are and not to judge them on the way they look. This sounds like a bunch of elementary aged children whose parents didn't teach them to have empathy for other people.

I for one am a little on the heavy side and have a real hard time finding anything to wear in the heat of summer to stay cool without looking like a dork. To think that I would go to Disney and be humiliated on a website for the way I dress just makes me sick. Please put a stop to this before someone gets hurt. It's not funny-its cruel.

I have to agree with the rest of the posters here. Very poor choice. :sad2:

Thank you Doris for providing some photos so that I can show my DGDs what NOT to wear to WDW.....we all must be careful now or the photographers will snap us - and it won't be on 5th Ave! ;)

I guess that's part of what has me a bit miffed(not you ncbyrne)......showing kids the photos is one thing, having them read (or be read) the comments that go along with it is another. Aren't we all complaining at one time or another that kids today are mean and rip eachother apart for the way they look or what they wear? This isn't the example I want to set for my kids.

Go ahead and snap my pic if you find my clothing not up to Doris' liking, but keep your snide comments to yourself and off the web.
