Welcome Back Taxachusetts...

It's so funny that all the Mass. Dems hold Bill Weld and Romney solely responsible for all their 'woes'. Yet, no Dem. ever mentions that the Mass. State House has been in complete Democratic control for as long as I can remember. Hmmmmm!!

I think that would be because it is, and always has been the Governor that appoints who is on the Board of the Mass. Turnpike Authority, and all work done on the tunnel in question has been done under the auspices of the MTA... Educational cutbacks have come through the Governor's office as well... also through the Governors office? The mandated health plan that soon takes effect that we know has been underfunded...

None of us knows WHAT WILL HAPPEN, we know what the republican's say will happen, but we don't know, and until we do know we need to be patient, and take the new Governor at face value, that he is going to work for ALL of us, I certainly hope that he does.... But we haven't ALL been represented for a long time... I have hope for the state & will have until I see what changes are or are not made.

I'm sorry, but I think you are suffering a little bit from hysteria. First off, we are in Northern Mass along the NH border. We have friends who live in the next town over (which is in NH).... their house is worth 750K, ours is worth 580K, do you know their property taxes are TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS??? I'm sorry, our property taxes are dirt cheap at 4500.00, yes, we pay 5.9% payroll tax, but, at the end of the day we pay less than half of what our friend pays when all totalled.... Have you ever seen the taxes in NY? They are outrageous, double that of Mass.

And by the way, our schools are so lousy for gifted children that it is just pathetic, we now go elsewhere for that "service"

Talk about big government in this state? Have you heard of the Big Dig?? It was all done under a republican governor, it is simply disgusting....

Things here can be no worse than they have been over the last four years specifically, and going back as far as Bill Weld and his cronies.... So while there may be hysteria right now, perhaps we should sit down and look at exactly what has happened here, and what companies have left under the current Republican government, there have been plenty. There has been no incentive for them to stay, that actually goes for the rest of us as well... where's the incentive to stay? If you are lucky to already have a job and already have a house, you're okay, god forbid if one of those two things are not true, because you are out the door....

Sorry but you are mistaken with you comment about the Big Dig...it was started by Dukakis and pushed through the US House by Tip O'Neil...both Democrats...all the hiring for the project was done by the Dukakis Administration.

You make an awful lot of assumptions. Unless you were sitting in my house during the debates, you don't know whether or not I watched any of them. Not that I owe you any answers, but yes, I did watch.

And I still don't know how you can state it as a "fact" that he's going to do one thing or the other. The only FACT is that he hasn't yet served a single day and until he does and we see what he does, you can't know that taxes will go up, that illegals will be given drivers licenses or any of the other things that you claim to know that he's going to do.

But then again, you are the all-seeing and all-knowing.

I only state it as fact because it came out of Patrick's mouth...aren't the "facts" the reason you voted for him :confused3 ...they are the reason I didn't :thumbsup2

The mandated health plan is great! I personally know two families that will be moving back to 'Taxachusetts' to take advantage of this plan. They both qualify for free or low cost insurance.

First, let mem say that I'm a republican and I'm willing to give Duval Patrick a chance, but only time will tell whether he'll be an asset or a hindrance to Massachusetts. Now, having said that, you, kelleigh, said this below:

You are correct that he has not served a day yet, but what he said regarding illegal immigrants and drivers licenses is a good indication as to what he plans on doing. Here's what he said:
Deval Patrick: Drivers licenses for illegals, for security and safety
Q: Should illegals be issued drivers licenses?
PATRICK: I support that because of the security issues. I want to know the names and addresses and faces of the people who are here. The people who are driving on the roads, I want the insurance issues dealt with, I want to know the people on the road know the rules of the road. Let's be clear, people are not coming to Massachusetts to get a drivers license, they're coming to get jobs. The first thing we have to do is secure our borders.
