I really won't mind seeing my hard earned $$$$ going to pay more taxes, fund more welfare and bloated goverment agencies...I also won't mind seeing businesses flee the state, faster than you can say Mike Dukakis, which will erode our tax base...I guess that means I also won't mind seeing my real estate taxes go up...I also won't mind the influx of illegal immigrants who will flock here for driver's licenses and in state college tuition rates...which means I won't mind seeing my car insurance rates increase as insurance companies once again refuse to do business in my state because they will be forced to insure these illegal immigrants...life is going to be good here in old Taxachusetts once again...not...I'm already counting the days until the Republicans will have to come back and clean up the mess left by Rubber Stamp Patrick...my only hope is that it won't be as bad as the mess left by Dukakis.

Sounds like NJ. I don't mind that my wages will be frozen because of the increased taxes, that gas prices and prices on everything delivered by truck will go up because of the taxes on fuel companies and I don't mind working every day so illegal aliens can get social security-really, I don't mind at all.

Do people really think that when a business gets increased taxes imposed that they're just going to say "oh, we'll just take less profits this year so we can pay the taxes" Get real, they're passing that on to the consumer and they're freezing wages to their employees so they can keep profits high.

Businesses have been fleeing NJ because of the high taxes here. Now with the feds jumping in to get theirs, we're in real trouble.

Do you live in Massachusetts :confused3 ...I see NY in your profile...well all the NY welfare cheats come to MA everytime time there is a Democratic Governor to double dip...if you've never lived here then you don't understamd...plus I never mentioned Bush in my OP :confused3

Did you see Patrick's victory speech last night?

He said "I'm going to work as hard as I can. I'm going to listen. I'm going to make mistakes and learn from them."

What kind of a victory speech is that?? He has yet to give any sort of plan for his term. Except of course for free tuition and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.

These are all the reasons we left Mass. Can't say I miss the overtaxation, high cost of living, or bloated government.

And so many people agree with your position that they voted the republibums out into the street.

Whatever.

Man it's a great day today!

There is a high cost of living here, but we also have some of the highest salaries in the country.

As far as taxes go, we fall pretty much in the middle of the list of states for tax burdens.

I've heard no claims or plans to raise taxes. No reason to think it will happen either. Patrick did say that he won't push the tax cut we voted for until the state is in a stable position to do so. I believe that's fiscally responsible.

And if you haven't heard his plan, then you just haven't been listening, he's been talking about it for months.

I myself am quite happy with the outcome.

(And yes, I'm from Massachusetts.)

Do you remember the last time the Democrats were carrying the banner of "America Wants Change"...if you do then you remember the mess left by Jimmy Carter...inflation out of control, high interest rates along with a woefully neglected military and a deficit equal to or higher to what we have now...a rubber stamp goverment is not the answer...the voting Democrats will realize this over the next 4 years and once again will jump off the "America Wants Change" bandwagon and see the light.

During the time that Romney has been in office, I have personally had to deal with the poor economy. My husband and I were both unemployed and struggled to find new jobs. Housing costs have gone through the roof so we can not even afford to buy a house in the state where my family has been since the Pilgrims landed. And all that time, all Romney concerned himself with was preventing people from getting married and roaming the country badmouthing the state while campaigning for a presidential election that is still 2 years away.

So far, Deval Patrick hasn't done anything because he's not in office. I've seen first hand what Romney has done and not done. And all I've seen of Kerry Healey is trash-talk. You apparently think you can predict the future as you've got a list of things that Patrick has done and yet, he hasn't served a single day as of yet. Until I actually see what he can do, I'll reserve judgment.

Did you watch any of the debates when he said what he was going to do :confused3 ...have you read his so called "plan" on his website :confused3 ...I'm just stating the facts as I heard and read them...obviously you haven't done either...BTW, I'm not a big fan of Romney and he did leave Healey out to dry and I would have voted for Healey if she ran against Romney.

I have honestly tried to find out what Patrick wants to do to "help" us and all I hear is "together we can!" Together we can do WHAT? He wants to spend millions of dollars on special programs but will not tell us how he will fund this. Don't worry, I have figured out higher taxes is how. I have a real problem with illegal immigrants having licenses and going to our public universities with, at the least, in state tuition and what I believe will end up being for free. I have a problem with being soft on criminals. The good news I can see in this is that after 4 years, he will have a hard time being reelected. But what damage he can do in those 4 years! I really wanted one of the other democrats to get the nomination back in September. I will probably be flamed for my opinions but I am really worried about what will be happening in Massachusetts now.

These 2 points alone made me positive that I would not vote for him. How can someone agree with things like this. Great so now illegal immigrants can get in-state tuition rates which means that the state has to take up part of the cost. Not to mention these illegals would be paying less than legal citizens from out of state when they're not even from this country!! It just doesnt' make sense

I'm sorry, but I think you are suffering a little bit from hysteria. First off, we are in Northern Mass along the NH border. We have friends who live in the next town over (which is in NH).... their house is worth 750K, ours is worth 580K, do you know their property taxes are TWENTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS??? I'm sorry, our property taxes are dirt cheap at 4500.00, yes, we pay 5.9% payroll tax, but, at the end of the day we pay less than half of what our friend pays when all totalled.... Have you ever seen the taxes in NY? They are outrageous, double that of Mass.

And by the way, our schools are so lousy for gifted children that it is just pathetic, we now go elsewhere for that "service"

Talk about big government in this state? Have you heard of the Big Dig?? It was all done under a republican governor, it is simply disgusting....

Things here can be no worse than they have been over the last four years specifically, and going back as far as Bill Weld and his cronies.... So while there may be hysteria right now, perhaps we should sit down and look at exactly what has happened here, and what companies have left under the current Republican government, there have been plenty. There has been no incentive for them to stay, that actually goes for the rest of us as well... where's the incentive to stay? If you are lucky to already have a job and already have a house, you're okay, god forbid if one of those two things are not true, because you are out the door....

Think back to the Mike Dukakis era...and remember Patrick said he liked Dukakis in the last debate and said he thought Dukakis did a good job...he is the only Democrat on record that thinks that never minds says it out loud :lmao:

:thumbsup2

I am so loving all these bitter, hyperbolic Republican threads! Thanks for the laughs OP!

It's so funny that all the Mass. Dems hold Bill Weld and Romney solely responsible for all their 'woes'. Yet, no Dem. ever mentions that the Mass. State House has been in complete Democratic control for as long as I can remember. Hmmmmm!!

I always laugh when someone cites "Taxachusetts". That's an immediate tipoff that they prefer to deal in hysteria rather than facts.

Using strictly objective data, Massachusetts' tax burden was ranked 28th in the country last year. That's in the lower half of state tax burdens.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/burdens_compared-20060412.swf

Massachusetts dropped out of the top 5 in state tax burdens in 1981, and during the second reign of Dukakis produced a tax burden roughly equal to what was produced under republican gubernatorial rule in the 90's.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/460.html

That's the hard data. Being a free country, you are completely at liberty to perceive facts as something other than reality in order to try and convince yourself that your rants are valid.

You make an awful lot of assumptions. Unless you were sitting in my house during the debates, you don't know whether or not I watched any of them. Not that I owe you any answers, but yes, I did watch.

And I still don't know how you can state it as a "fact" that he's going to do one thing or the other. The only FACT is that he hasn't yet served a single day and until he does and we see what he does, you can't know that taxes will go up, that illegals will be given drivers licenses or any of the other things that you claim to know that he's going to do.

But then again, you are the all-seeing and all-knowing.
