Weird things going on at the neighbors...

I'll try to make this brief and to the point. We have a neighbor in his 40's probably, nice guy..... we are "over the fence friendly" if you know what I mean. Recently he moved another man in with him, dyed his hair blonde, stopped being "over the fence friendly" (if you wave to him you get NOTHING in return:confused: ) and last night we saw 3 guys- late teens early 20's who I have never seen before in the neighborhood. One guy had a "jailhouse" tattoo in the middle of his chest, another had shaved his head, they were dirty and I feel safe saying they weren't from around here. Anyway, they went into the neighbors house (we were going for a walk and met them on the street).

I don't wanna feel like the nosey neighbor from Bewitched but they are saying now we all ought to pay attention to what is going on in our neighborhoods.... changes and who comes and goes etc. My first thought was drugs.... what does everyone else think??

This does sound odd. I am not sure what I would do. Do you have any other neighbors you could talk to?

What exactly is a jailhouse tattoo and how did YOU know what it was

I hope you didn't think drugs because you saw a guy with a tattoo, dyed blonde hair, or a shaved head. You just described everyone I know!

A jailhouse tatto is one that looks "homemade" not by a tattoo artist (more like his buddies did it for him)...... don't know why they are called that exactly.

The changes in our neighbors appearance and behavior and the strange company just put up a lot of red flags for me.

I'd keep my eyes open but try not to worry about it. All those new friends could be from the evangelical church down the street. ;)

Nothing wrong with keeping an eye on changes in the neighborhoo. That's exactly why the police have programs called "neighborhood watch".

Uh oh, know you're going to have all the people with tattoos and shaved heads getting offended.

You should have put a disclaimer in your post my dear friend.;)

It could be that your neighbor was lonely, and took some people under his wing he just happen to meet while he was out one day. Hopefully, they are just friends, sharing a house. And hopefully they will not take advantage of your neighbor, and HIS neighbors!

Just keep a watchful eye out to be on the safe side.

I was smiling, Blondie. It was a joke. Don't take life so seriously.

Sound like some pretty drastic changes to me...I would be concerned too. After all....whatever is happening is happening in your back yard! I agree that you should keep an eye on things and if you get really concerned, call the police with what you are seeing....it's their job!! Good luck....hope it's nothing!

talk to some other neighbors, maybe they might know whats going on?

Actually, many of the police in our area have shaved heads and tatoos. They look OK to me, unless that look scares you......

Personally, I would keep my eyes open a little, just to see if any activities going on next door are suspicious. I wouldn't jump to conclusions based soley on appearances, though.

When I was home full time. We had a neighbor who looked perfectly fine. Well there was too much coming and going for me with no job description to be found for him.

I started writing down, license plate numbers, makes of cars and dates/times. I wanted to be prepared.

Nothing ever came from it, they moved but at least I had the peace of mind in case something did.

So do several doctors where I work! :earseek:

Maybe its his "SO" and he just got released from the pen and they are now happily back together. If they're not causing any trouble, then why make a big deal out of it?

Those tattoos are called jailhouse tattoos because that's the kind the ppl in jail get when they want another tattoo for obvious reasons.

I don't think she's making a big deal out of anything. The point that struck me most about Mer's post is the change in her neighbor's behavior. I think she's right to be on guard about any differences in the area.

Hey Mermaid, give Kev a call and tell him to do a few extra patrols in your area!;)

I'd be concerned, too. Even if he just decided to "take someone under his wing", or his "SO got out of jail and rejoined him", that doesn't explain why he suddenly won't speak any more when he used to.

Part of me says try to catch him when he's by himself and say you wanted to make sure everything was okay since he no longer speaks. Part of me says if there *are* bad things going on, that would just bring attention to you and possibly put yourself in danger. If nothing is going on, though, it might get your question answered.

At the very least, I'd keep an eye on things over there. I don't mean sit at the window with your telescope and video camera, but when you're out watering your garden or whatever, just see what's going on. Maybe even write your observations down in a notebook just in case something does happen.
