Scam Alert
All Quests, whether they are official VMK Quests or Quests made by Players, are free to everyone. Please don't pay anyone to do their Quest, or for help completing Quests. If a Player is asking for items before you can join their Quest, or to be "paid" to help you with a Quest, please report them and then leave their room. No prize is worth being scammed over, and VMK won't replace these items for you. Players caught charging to participate in Quests may be banned for scamming.

Quest-building Tip of the Week: The Quest Kiosk will allow up to 40 tasks. To prevent people from learning the answers, throw in a mix of tasks like going to a room, saying a word or phrase, changing clothes, etc. If your Quest asks people to buy something, perform a magic spell or play a game, say so in the Quest Description.
Tips Talk
Scams
* Don't be fooled by sites or surveys that offer special VMK items or rooms for completing their Survey; any survey that asks for your VMK login and/or password is probably trying to trick you.
* If you are tricked in a trade, please report it via Contact Us, and be sure to let us know what was taken, by whom, and how. We'll research it and take the appropriate action, up to banning the scammer and returning your stuff.
* Never let anyone "borrow" your magic to try, or to complete a Quest. All the magic can be tried out in the Spell Room, or on Discovery Island. This is not a scam, and VMK won't replace the item for you.
* Codes, rooms and credits can't be traded in VMK; anyone who offers to give or trade you a Code may not be as honest as you'd like.
Safety
* Never give out your personal information. This includes things like where you live, your phone number, instant messenger name, e-mail address, the name of your school, or any other information that could be used to contact you outside of VMK.
* Never tell another Player you are home alone, or where you will be at a certain date or time.
* Always keep in mind that everybody in VMK is a stranger; you haven't met them in person and don't know for a fact that they are who they say they are. Be as careful about talking to strangers in VMK as you would be at the mall.
* Never give out any information that allows you to be contacted outside of VMK, even on a fan site. Its not a safe practice, and will get you banned.
Smarts
* Don't use words that are in the dictionary to substitute for words that aren't allowed. Players who use approved words as substitutions for numbers and other disallowed words to give out personal information may be banned from VMK for their own protection.
* Remember that you can always click on a player and then click Ignore so you don't see their chat anymore. Once you stop reacting to their words, they'll probably leave you alone.
* Many players on VMK really enjoy trading things back and forth but some don't. Most of the time, those that don't trade put that info in their signature so please respect that and please ask first.
* No Player HAS to trade, including Staff and Community Leaders.
Remember, Players whose name starts with CL_ are Community Leaders. If you need help finding something or want to know how things work, ask a CL. They're here to help.
MythBusters
Myth: If someone reports you, you'll get in trouble even if you haven't done anything wrong.
Fact: VMK reviews each report before taking action
Myth: VMK will close if the "taken thing" doesn't stop.
Fact: This is not true. All behavior must remain within the VMK Values but having a special friend on VMK will not cause us to close.
Myth: If you fill up all the cars in the Sci-Fi Dine-In, you will win something.
Fact: This is not true. There is no prize for doing this.
Myth: If you can get a certain number of people to dance in a certain place, VMK Staff will come give everyone a magic pin.
Fact: This is not true. VMK Staff members like to dance with Players, but we don't have any prizes for doing this.
What makes a Guest Room award-worthy?
Guest or Game Rooms that stand out show originality in concept and design. It could be a use of conventional furniture in unconventional ways, the use of a theme or color, or humor. Game rooms that get the nod offer a new game idea or a new twist on an old favorite. In all rooms we look for room owners who welcome everyone with a smile and show a willingness to answer questions about their room.

Q: Can I use a program to help me enter my Codes faster?
A: Scripting, which includes any programs or utilities that use scripting capabilities to perform rote tasks (ie: entering codes), is a violation of the VMK Values. Any player caught using ANY scripting program may be banned.
Q: Is it against the rules to use your Quest Kiosk to transfer credits from one Player to another?
A: VMK would prefer that Players only use the Quest Kiosks as they were intended: for creation of Quests and rewarding of prizes.
Q: I let someone borrow my Turn Into Bat Magic to do a Quest and now they won't give it back. What do I do?
A: Whenever you let someone borrow something, either in VMK or elsewhere, you run the risk that they won't give it back. This is not a scam, and VMK won't replace the item(s) for you.
Q: Why aren't you accepting Community Leader applications?
A: Currently we don't need any more Community Leaders. When we are ready to once again accept applications we will announce it right here in the Newsletter.
Q: I can't find some of the Quest items because I don't know what they look like.
A: We're including a picture of all the items to make your Questing a little easier.

Three favorite pieces of furniture, and why?
*The Palm Trees because lions always need a tree close by to sleep under; *the Hippo Pools because I like to go down by the river and watch them play in the water and get a drink; *the Barrel Chairs because they look the best in the tents and I can curl up in them to rest my paws.
Favorite *type *of Guest Room?
I like them all but, being a lion, I am partial to the Safari Room.
Favorite Public Space?
I like to walk around all the public areas to visit with the players, but if I have to pick just one, it would be Main Street. I like to watch players passing by and it gives me a chance to get to meet lots of new players to VMK..
Favorite Mini-Game?
(ie: Pirates, haunted Mansion .. not the hosted games) Definitely the Jungle Cruise! I just love steering my boat down the river and taking pictures of all the wonderful wildlife.
Best VMK moment?
I can't pick any one moment, but it is always when I see a player helping a new player and being kind to someone who is having a problem.
Favorite place to hang out in VMK?
I enjoy visiting all the rooms both public and guest-created. My favorite place is any one where the room owner is welcoming players and giving up their time so others can enjoy the activities they have planned in their room... whether it is a game, a ride, a place to come and watch a show or a place to enjoy some treats... this is always a pleasure. I also love to walk the Kingdom paths in the public areas and soak in everything magical that is happening!
Best tip for someone new to VMK?
Please try to always ask before you send a trade request (it is just polite).
What one safety tip would you like to share with our readers?
Know how to recognize VMK Staff by their green Mickey ears and Orange Mickey badge. They are here to help you and to keep VMK safe. With your parent, take the time to read the VMK Values and FAQs on the home page. Become familiar with the Help and Ignore buttons and how to use them to report or ignore people that make you uncomfortable. And never, ever trade or loan something to somebody else unless you are willing to give it up for good.
