We left MCO yesterday evening on NWA. We sat at the jetway for a long time. I was reading my book, DH had his eyes closed and the lady next to us was talking to the two people in front of us who were sitting with her DD, so none of us were paying attention. Apparantly, security or police or somebody in a uniform, came on the plane and took a guy off the plane. After a long time, the pilot came on and said that we would be cleared for leaving after the gate agent finished up the security issues. Eventually, we backed away from the jetway and started to drive forward. Then we stopped and pulled back in. The gate agent came back on the plane, met two guys in the back of the plane and escorted them out. Then he came back again and got their carryons. Finally, we left about an hour late.

When we arrived in Mpls, we were told that the continuing flight to Calgary had an unscheduled plane change and they would have to get off and go to a different gate and board a different plane. THEN we were told that because of security issues in Orlando we would be getting off the plane in the international arrivals area and had to wait for the TSA and the FBI (FBI????? Hello????) to get there because we all had to be rescreened when we got OFF the airplane. How weird.

We were never told anything about what the problem was or anything. Dh and I had to go through the whole pat down and rubbing some cloth testing thing around on all of our belongings because we had left our boarding passes on the plane as they didn't tell us we needed them and it never occurred to us that we would. When we got to baggage claim, every single bag had the sticker on it that shows they have looked through your bag.

Anyone in Orlando hear anything on the news or anywhere? We haven't foudn anything here.

Hmm..interesting. I haven't heard anything...but then again I'm usually the last to know. I hope someone responds soon. My nosey side wants to know!

Wow! I'm traveling to Orlando tomorrow! That sounds very scary!

Scary that there would be an issue w/the plane AFTER you guys already flew on it. Maybe they should have switched planes and done the rescreening at MCO? That would be my first thought.

Minnie--that is exactly what we all thought. "Okay, we got here and we are safe so what is the point." The TSA agents did not seem to be looking for anyone just screening the bags. The best we could figure was maybe it was an issue with smuggling drugs but not too sure if that would involve the FBI.

Haven't been able to find anything on Google or anything else so maybe it was not a big deal and just felt very out of the ordinary to us.

But their tip-off may have indicated that a plan was in place AFTER leaving MSP. Y'know one person puts something on board and another person gets on at MSP to carry out the plan....

Good thing that we have people watching for things liek that. They just dont remove anyone from airplanes. It seems irritating to have to stay and be screened, further delaying the day, but remember its in the best interests of everyone. Someone may have seen something that seemed normal to them, but when telling officers it may have peiced something important together.

Haven't heard anything either. But I would rather be safe then sorry. If I have to go through re-screening, it wouldn't bother me. At least they are taking the necessary precautions to make sure everyone is safe. Can you imagine if they didn't and something got through? The TSA would never hear the end of people asking why there weren't enough precautions taken to prevent it.

My DS4 and I are flying down next month and I'm not nervous. But I can't wait to see my son's face as he is looking out the window. Although, I'll be hearing "Are we there yet? I want to get there now!" for the 2 1/2 hour flight down :sad2: . It's worth it though :).
