If someone is staying at the Swan or Dolphin and really wants a new WDW refillable mug because their kids (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty) have lost all but one of her favorite drive-to-work mugs, would they be able to buy a mug at Boardwalk or Beach Club and use it there during their stay?

I know Swan & Dolphin have their own mugs, but I'm a little weird and LOVE the WDW ones.

I'm happy to just buy the mug outright to have it, but if I could use it during the trip that would be even better. It would be so easy and pleasant to stroll over to the Boardwalk in the mornings for a coffee. Do they allow the mugs to be used for people staying at a non-Disney hotel?

I don’t know if this is specifically allowed, but I have always seen the drink dispensers past the cashiers. So if you have a mug and you had it activated, I don’t see why you would not be able to fill it.

Yup. You'd be able to use it at any WDW owned resort.

Definitely. Aslong as you pay for the mug, they don't care where you're staying.

I love staying at the Swan and have done this three times. The first time, I wasn't sure, so I asked a Boardwalk cast member if I was allowed to purchase. She told me the mug program was actually open to everyone, but to avoid confusion they marketed it only to on-site guests as "length-of-stay" refills. She said I was welcome to buy it and refill it for up to a 14 day period. Since it can only be refilled at the Disney-operated resorts, this wording ensures that off-site guests aren't disappointed.

Like you, I enjoy the morning stroll over to the Boardwalk. Or taking the bus back to the Beach/Yacht Club and stopping for some evening refreshments. Since I like to visit different resorts for sightseeing and meals, it also comes in handy there.

This is absolutely fine. You don’t need to be staying at a Disney resort to buy or use a rapid fill mug. Once you’ve purchased it, you can use it at any resort for 14 days.
