Weird Phone Call today re: Cypress Gardens

Has anyone heard anything (other than from me) about Weddings at Cypress Gardens now that they are closed??

I had a phone message today from the event planner at the Best Western Across the street from Cypress Gardens, saying that he was available for me for ANYTHING to help with my April 2004 Cypress Gardens Wedding, including rooms, catering, reception, etc.

HUH???? How could he not know that CYpress Gardens is CLOSED and how did he get my number anyway??? His message certainly made it sound like the wedding is STILL ON!!???!!!!!

I immediately called him back and left a message but haven't spoken... maybe he knows something I don't know????

WHO can I talk to to find out????? Cypress Gardens has ignored all 7 of our phone messages!

Hey Holly,

I would call him. Maybe he knows something you don't. I'm not trying to be flip, buy maybe they have worked something out with Cypress Gardens, and he might turn out to be a good asset.

Heck, if you want, I'll call him tomorrow (I can be your 'sister') I know if it were me, I would not be able to have the conversation rationally yet, and would love someone else to go fact finding. I'd be happy to.

Whatever it is, I hope it is good news.

It sounds like he may be taking on some of Cypress Gardens clients who were stiffed by their closing. This could be a good thing for you. Hope it works in your favor.

UPDATE:

I left a message for the guy yesterday and had a message from him today. IntenseBlue98 called it.... Cypress Gardens is NOT available, but he could fix a room up "real pretty" for me. I don't think I'm interested....

How insensitive of him to "pretend" that my wedding was still on... on the first message he said, "I understand your Cypress Gardens Wedding IS on April 24, 2004... blah blah blah.

I came home to find a CHECK in the mail from Cypress Gardens returning our deposit. YAY!!!! One less thing to think about!

I had to re-read Ted's post 3 times to figure out it was Ted, answering Holly.

That was pretty lame of the hotel to pretend your wedding was still on. But, I am very glad you got your deposit back.

What a bad Idea on the Hotels Part.... I am very glad you got a refund from C. Gardens. I had been wondering if they would give you your money back. I do have a suggestion. How about eloping to Disney???

Wow, how annoying. I couldn't believe some of the stuff the would-be vendors would pull when I was planning the wedding.
And I can't even count the number of times I wanted to elope!!
