Weird Phobias

I have a fear of microwaves. One time i put aluminum foil in it and it bruned and it smelt really bad. And i had to clean it up which was horrible =]

The strangest fear I have is of ceiling fans.

I had this dream when I was little that the one in my room was on and somehow started to like....spin SUPER FAST and then it like....detached from the wall and fell down and...well....you know. I woke up at that point. But I'm pretty sure you can guess what was going to happen. :scared:

I'm fine if they're on during the day or on in a room I am NOT sleeping in. But if there is a ceiling fan in the room I am sleeping in it has to be OFF. During the summer, regardless of how hot it gets in my room, the fan stays off at night. I'll strip all the covers off my bed and drench myself in cold water before I turn that thing on.

I know-->I'm pathetic. :headache:

MY weird one is something poking my eye. I can't have anything really close to my eye, I just literally freakout.

Death. Loneliness. I guess those aren't so irrational though.

My cats going outside and running away/getting ran over.

Not being good enough, pretty much in all ways. That's why I freak out if I get less than a 95 on a test, or have a bad hair day, or answer a question wrong, or gain a few pounds, etc.

SAme for the first. Although, it's mostly stuff like tweezers, and sharp pencils. I think about how much it would hurt for my eye to be poked and then my eye freezes up (like I don't wanna move it back or forth) and I just really have to close my eye or I'm going to have some sort of panic attack.

I'm mostly just scared of puke. Seeing it. Puking. Seeing/hearing someone else puke. Being puked on. Being near someone puking (like in the same car).
It's terrible.

Ok, My school principal has given me a fear of pant suits.
NEVER at any time in my life am i going to be able to where a pant suit.
its just... UGH! YUCK.

I also have the biggest fear of spiders. i had to count the legs on a hand drawn spider for a science exam and freaked out.

Im also afraid of my shadow/reflection a tnight time.

ye-ah

I have an actual phobia of Robot Dinosaurs (like in Dinosaur/Jurassic Park)
And just dinosaurs in general.....dinosaur fossils, statues, the sounds they make, anything to do with dinosaurs. If I see a dino statue I have to RUN by it, I feel really panicked and scared and paranoid.
I know it's COMPLETELY irrational, but I can't help it.
My family ALWAYS drags in on Jurrasic Park & Dinosau and this is how I go through:

I know its really funny, and i laugh about it all the time but it's a legit fear!!

I even FREAK out in Dinoland @ AK.

I HATE DINOS!

I am exactly the same. For as long as I can remember I have had this morbid and intense fear of dinosaurs... You are braver than me as I wouldn't ever go to a dinosaur park as I know that the panic attacks that follow would be embarrassing and frightening. I too cannot bear dinosaur bones or anything remotely dinosaur. I have also suffered nightmares about them. My kids find it hilarious, I find it embarrassing and difficult xx

I was just waiting for you to post George!!!
My friend in dino-fear.
I know it doesnt have a name! I've looked it up!! I just call it dino-phobia or robo-dino-phobia! haha

windows open when home alone idk if this is a phobia but it scares me soooo flipping much....this ride at wet n wild, i forget the name but i dont like it cause once i fell out and i could get back on the raft, but i am always afraid it will happen again and ima get held under
not real phobia phobias but yea...and i am really paranoid hah so yeah

also i hate when big vans and trucks drive by me idk why but i always feel like i could get kidnapped which i am extremely afraid and paranoid about..

by the way DramaQueen i LOVE!!! your signature :)

The only fear i have is opening can lids, I'm okay if I can use a can opener but if its the ones you have to pull open then I can't. One day I was opening a can lid and cut my finger really bad and there was a lot of blood. This was about four years ago, I still have the scar.

I'm still afraid of the dark (lol)

Oh, and I hate spiders. Seriously. When I volunteered at the library, the children's library had a pet tarantula.

Needless to say, I did not go in that corner at all costs.

Whenever I see a spider, I have to call my little brother into the room to kill it. I'm pitiful XD

YES!!! I HATE that. it's so nasty it makes my skin crawl. I can't even watch movies where people puke just for the sound of it. :P

The sounds of plastic rubbing together.

OH!!! And being in a room with lots of windows at night. It just creeps me out. Like, pitch black windows; makes me feel like someone's out there watching. Eegh. *skin crawls*

i have a true phobia. like screaming, crying, running away, locking doors, and crying for maybe even an hour after the event. it affects my life.

i'm afraid of crickets. and i'm very irrational. saw a cricket in my mother's garage, i ran to the car, and locked the doors, and wouldn't open them, because i was afraid a cricket would jump in the car with me. i wouldn't walk across the grass because i was afraid they were out there. i wouldn't go through the garage. throughout all this, i was hysterically crying past the point of being able to explain to anyone what was wrong.

once, i touched a cricket, and i had to go change my clothes and shower several times, to make sure that there weren't any on me. and even though it was dead, it had to be thrown out on the other side of the house far away from any doors or windows, to make sure i wouldn't be close to it, and it couldn't hurt me.

phobias are horrible horrible disorders.

Death
Lonliness
Funerals (I HATE them! They scare me A LOT for some reason)
The sound that scratching your fingernail on paper makes (it gives me the creeps, BIG TIME)
The sound that metal forks scratching on plates makes (again, creeps me out BIG TIME)
Bugs

Crocodiles/Alligators. I don't know if that's weird, but they are what I'm most afraid of. If I see one on tv my heart starts racing and I put my hands over my eyes. I've had a few nightmares where alligators were coming after me underwater and I woke up very scared.

Here's my looong list:

-Cotton (like cotton balls) I just hate the way it feels xD
-Heights
-Elevators (ToT has scard me for life)
-Needles (My eyes water when I get shots)
-Blood
-Getting something stuck in my throat
-Puke
-The noise you get when you rub your hand up and down a paper towel. Ugh.

those aren't really phobias:confused3

Phobias means you're scared of them, right? I am.

no. no. no. no.
Phobia: An unreasonable sort of fear that can cause avoidance and panic. A phobia is an intense, unrealistic fear, which can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, that is brought on by an object, event or situation.

the key to the definition is that it interferes with your life, and it is unrealistic.

your eyes watering when you get a shot is a response to pain. if you had a phobia of needles you wouldn't be able to be in a room with one. phobias and fears aren't the same. phobias are extremely intense anxiety disorders associated with a (most often non harmful substance.) and they can be cured by intense sensory therapy.

I think those fit. And needles dont HURT me. I'm scared to death of them. I didn't mean pain-wise.

DVDs that skip. If I'm watching something that starts skipping, I have to leave and have my mother or someone shut it off. I just feel that there is going to be a hidden message or something coming out. Also, I CAN'T look in a mirror at night.I don't know where that came from.

Oh, and lakes. Oceans are fine but no lakes. Also, fish from said lakes.
