Weird Disney smells you love

This last trip our room was ready when we got there so we parked as close to the room as we could and went in the side door. I told DH that next time I didn't care where our room was I was walking in the front because being hit with that smell when you walk over the water feature and into the Riviera lobby meant that I was home and you just don't get that at the side doors.

He rolled his eyes and told me I could go that way if I wanted to but he was going the short way.

Ok, suit yourself you killjoy.

There’s nothing quite like a long hot day at the park and then walking into the lobby at Riviera. The ice cold air and scent smacks you in the face in the best way possible. 🤤

We all know the classics - Pirates water, churros, etc. - there’s a whole cottage industry dedicated to those. Tell me the WEIRD smells at Disney that you absolutely LOVE!

I’ll start: The smell at the start of GotG when you’re getting ready to launch. Idk if it’s leftover from construction plaster or what but I love it 😂
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland
Contemporary Resort
the part in Soarin' when you go over the water in the South Pacific

I love the smell of the water when you take a shower at one of the resorts. Florida people are probably thinking, 'what smell?' but it's very distinctive.

Another fan of Rome burning. Every once in a while, I get lucky and we get slowed down or stopped there. Mmmmmm!

Also adore the smells of buttered popcorn any time we walk through a wafting scent, whether real or "Disney magic."

I take it nobody misses "Mouse Gear Smell." 🤣 That shop used to have a weird odor, but since they made all the changes to the central area of Epcot it doesn't seem so prevalent.

I enjoy the extensive variety of scents from all the various countries in World Showcase. Each of the many stores has its own distinguishing scent...... foods, perfumes, liquor/beer, leathers, so msny

The tea shop smells nice. Also, at Disney Springs, the spice store smells wonderful!

The whole place has a certain smell, my kids used to call it, "That Disney smell," and while I can't point to anything in particular I think if I got dropped in blindfolded I would know I was there.

Not necessarily weird, but I’m obsessed with the Riviera lobby scent. So much that I’ve been on the hunt for the source, spending several hundred $ so far. No, I don’t want the candle from the store in Disney Springs (which doesn’t smell like it). Nor do I want a reseller that sells micro bottles of oil. I want the actual fragrance oil they use in the HVAC from the source of the oil in bulk so I can make my own wax melts and use in my HVAC.

A very close scent is the Mrs Meyers hand soap in the “Rain Water” scent. Next time you are in Target have a whiff of it!
They most likely use a company called scent air, we used to order the westin white tea scent diffusers for our office. https://scentair.com/fragrance-samples.html you could try to order their samples as it may not be a custom made scent for Riviera.

The smell is definitely still there if you come in from the back middle entrance that faces test track, definitely eau de sewer :rotfl:

I like the grass smell on Soarin during the elephant scene and miss the orange blossom smell when it was Soarin over California. I am very sensitive to flowery smells so a lot of the lobby smells give me a headache if I linger in them too long, especially RIV. I find VGF the least offensive to smell "allergy".

There's a smell at the monorail station at Contemporary, kind of a musty smell, that also used to be present in some of the shops on Main St., at Town Square Cafe (now Tony's), and King Stefan's (now CRT) and other places in Fantasyland a long time ago. It's been there since 1974, and I swear the sense memory instantly takes me back.

I love the smell of the woman's bathroom at The Poly located by Captain Cooks - it always smells like pineapples.

Here's a very specific one. If using the east wing elevator at the Swan, which is adjacent to the Italian Il Molino restaurant, in the late afternoon or evening, it has a great garlic smell. If you are hungry, it smells great. If you are not hungry, well, maybe not so great. For me, it's usually great.
