Weird checkout question

When you need to check your bill etc. before checkout they usually slide your final bill or receipt under the door the night before you checkout then you can checkout using the tv. Our upcoming resort reservation is in my name with my credit card. Do you think I can request at the desk for them to NOT slide a copy of the final bill under my door and hold it and I will go to the desk to check out? I know this sounds sneaky and please don't flame me for being a bad wife. Here's the deal. We have been to WDW 5 times in 8 years. Every trip is the same thing. We tell DH we want to go back to the World and he gives us his practical "we need to save money for college tuitions ahead of our 3 kids and for retirement....." Then I give him the old "but our kids are growing up so fast (we had difficulty finding ONE week this whole year we can go on vacation that the kids don't have some sort of obligation) dd only has 3 more years of high school - she won't want to go on family vacations much longer. Plus, we work hard, we go nonstop, life is short, we DESERVE a vacation." Then I make the "deal". "OK honey, how about you say ok as long as I can save the money and have the resort and tickets paid for before we go. I won't turn down any days of substituting until school's out. Then next thing you know I'm asking where he'd like p.s., about things we want to do, etc. He never acts excited about going until we get there and then guess who is a big kid and is JUST as giddy as the rest of us. One time he went to the front desk the morning of check out to see if we could stay one more night to surprise us but no availability. Now he KNOWS what a trip to WDW costs but it's a psychological thing with him to not actually hear or see the numbers except for dining, etc. He doesn't even know where we are staying - we were going to stay at POR but had to change dates and couldn't get a room there with our email pin code so I asked him where we should stay and he said that was my decision, he and the kids want me to surprise them. The Boardwalk Inn - they will be in heaven since we love the Boardwalk area and the short walk to Epcot. But I don't want him to see the $$ per night right before we leave and him be surprised but not in a pleasant way and then have 14 hours in the car going home. Sometimes he's just better off not knowing all the details. :teeth:

If you don't leave a credit card for incidentals when you check-in, they cannot give you express check-out. You will have to check out at the front desk. We do this often. The only downside, you won't be able to charge anything to your room key - but if you're willing to live with that, this would be the easiest way.

Disney usually leaves the bill in an envelope hanging from your door, not slipping in under the door, and I think they do it after midnight. So, if you grab it before he sees it I would think you'd be OK.

You can leave a credit card for room charging - just ask them to make a special note that you do not want express check out.
I would go to desk the night before checkout just to verify that they don't do it.

I thought you could leave cash to charge against :confused3 I would say not leaving the card would be the easiest way also. I always grab the receipt before my DH gets to it also, so no flaming from me. :goodvibes

I don't know. Never left cash before to charge against. We usually use disney dollars so we just carry that around. We don't usually charge to the room key anyway.

Just use the credit card and settle the bill the night before with cash or your credit card. We always do that because we usually leave before they would put the bill on the door.

I see :) Im just trying to figure out all the ins and outs right now lol. Im new at all this lol.

If it was me i would tell him that if the $$ amount was going to upset him, for him to just not look at the bill. :confused3

I understand what you're saying but telling him "if you're going to be upset about how much this all cost don't look at the bill" would be like telling my kids "don't go looking in the closet for your unwrapped Christmas gifts." He probably won't ask. If he comes out and asks I'll tell him but no point bringing it up or waving the bill in front of him. Thank you for your replys!

I can so related to you if it was up to DH there wouldn't be ay vacation or anything else..It's not so much the money but he doesn't want bothered with the makings of the planning.. SO He packs the night before and off we go..If your room is paid for ahead of time through Dreams Unlimited and if you do not charge to the room will you still get a statement of your bill... :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Safetymom is right, you can just go down to the desk at any time before you leave to pay and zero out your balance. Then whether or not they put it on your door won't be an issue--it won't have anything on it. (I think just that last night?)

We use our room charge for everything and have had to go to the desk and pay it and zero it out since they actually have a limit on how much you can charge at a time. (it's a high limit, but it's easy to spend a lot of $ when we are there for two weeks at a time!) If we didn't pay halfway through our trip, we wouldn't be able to use the room charge anymore, so we always pay it at some point during the trip.
