Weird and Ninja’s Pre-Disneymoon [Completed!]

Ack.... I'm so far behind! Way to go with the updates!

Can you believe, I've never eaten at EoS? It looks so yummy, I want to try it, but we never get there.

The Disney Precious Moments figures are cute. I used to collect PM figurines when I was younger, but now I just don't have a place for them. They're still fun to look at though.

I love wandering around Art of Disney. The stuff is so fun to look at, I can't imagine buying it personally, but it's fun to look at!

Bummer the line was too long to meet Ridley Pearson, but how cool you got to see him!

We've never been into Once Upon a Toy, figuring there wouldn't be stuff for us there, but it sounds like it's worth checking out.

I keep telling myself that I have to finish more of this before we go on our next trip! That's in 96 days!!! I can't believe we missed the 100-day mark! Whoops! Haha, work just took over.

I've never eaten at WPE! It was only because of DIS that we tried Earl of Sandwich. Beforehand, I used to think that it was weird that people stood on line for so long just for a sandwich. I'm sure I said it out loud; I wonder if anyone around me heard me and thought I was such a newbie!

Yeah, there's always a part of me that wants to look at the Precious Moments. I just don't see the point in collecting it if there's no space to display it and enjoy it.

If I saw Ridley Pearson again, I'd be like, "Um, what's with the errors in the book?!?" Haha, just kidding.

haha, I have never seen Nightmare Before Christmas either. :rolleyes1 I don't know if I want to...it just seems to strange for my tastes. LOL. I do think Jack Skellington's girlfriend or whatever is named Sally.

Woo, yes, that AI doll is so for me (and my sisters!).

Bummer you weren't able to get Ridley Pearson's autograph but that's cool you saw him. That's crazy the one lady had a huge bagful of books. Seriously, if everyone did that the line would take FOREVER to get through! Which it already sounds like it did...haha I can't wait for the next KK book. I was on amazon a while ago and I think I saw it comes out in April and is supposed to take place at DTD!

Collector packs...one thing which I have not gotten into surprisingly. I think I have enough to collect between pins and vinylmations now. I have no willpower when it comes to Disney shopping.

ETA: YES, I was right, and now KK4 has a name!
http://www.amazon.com/Kingdom-Keepers-IV-Power-Play/dp/1423138570/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1289865507&sr=8-2 Woo, I can't wait!

Yeah, Sally sounds right! Haha, but I think that if you said that the girlfriend's name was Susie or Sandy, I probably would've said it sounded right too!

I guess that lady "deserves" it because she was the first on line, but seriously, that would take FOREVER if people had that many. I don't know how book signings work. I mean, if he's supposed to be there from 4-6pm, does he just stop at 6pm even if there are more people on line? I know that's what happens elsewhere, but I figure this is Disney and all ...

I'm hoping I don't really get into Collector Packs. I wish that there were ride vehicle ones ONLY. I don't care much for the character figurines. I want to get the ride vehicles and use funtac and just stick them along the top of my computer monitor!

YUP, I recently saw KK4 on Amazon because I'm about to order stuff soon (I posted it on FB because I was so excited!). I read the description and was like, "oOoOoO" regarding the Charlene thing. But it does make it more interesting, I guess. I was upset in KK3 when the kids weren't sure if they could all trust each other. I hope it never gets to that point where one character betrays everyone else. I just think it's too much like real life, I guess. Haha, let me keep my faith in the Kingdom Keepers and their loyalty!

Tuesday, April 6: Tren-D with Ninja's Camera

My dad was getting impatient and wanted to leave, but I knew I had to check out one more store before leaving DTD! As much as I love World of Disney and as much as I wanted to check out BASIN for the first time, the one store I really wanted to see was TrenD! I saw pictures ahead of time, so I was hoping to find this black satin-y headband with small swarovski-type crystals on it in the shape of little Mickey heads.

When we walked in, I was very surprised at its size. It was much smaller that I thought it would be, but all the merchandise was packed together! It's difficult to just do a quick walkthrough of this store because there's so much competing for your attention. That's why pictures are really the best thing! I wanted pics of everything but mainly the bags!

Here was the first bag I photographed! I think it's really pretty, but the white parts of it wouldn't stay white for long!

IMG_6803.jpg

The same goes for this one!

IMG_6804.jpg

I love this one! It's just so western-y! I like how the little Mickeys are made to look like part of a larger paisley design.

IMG_6805.jpg

I like how Disney has a few crossbody bag options. If I didn't already have my LeSportsac, I'm sure I would've bought a new bag during the trip!

IMG_6806.jpg

Don't know how sturdy this little piece of luggage would be, but it's really cute and colorful!

IMG_6807.jpg

Another piece of little luggage! You can also see how they put so much stuff in one spot for you to look at. It's very easy to miss something. I mean, I'm sure at that point, I didn't even realize there was a hat in that display!

IMG_6808.jpg

The green bag reminds me of the 90s or something. Maybe it's that particular shade of green? Look at those cute mugs!

IMG_6809.jpg

I like classic Mickey shirts, but I don't like it when the character is so large. I personally feel they're very, "BAM, I'm Mickey and I'm on your shirt!"

IMG_6810.jpg

Okay, THIS was the bag I wanted. Who cares about Dooney and Burke! This is the one I wanted!!!

IMG_6811.jpg

Look at all those bags on the shelves going, "Yes, I'm expensive. Most of you can't afford me." Haha. Though I could technically afford a D&B bag, it would NOT be a wise investment. I don't particularly care for fancy bags because I'd be afraid to get it dirty. Besides, with the cost of that one D&B bag, I could get a couple of different styles! Haha, that's not to say that I don't still look at them because I AM a girl and they ARE bags ...

IMG_6812.jpg

This was another one that I liked. I believe I posted this bag in whtie (or something like it) when we were in Epcot at MouseGear. I like the bowling bag look for some odd reason.

IMG_6813.jpg

Those little women mannequins are a little odd ...

IMG_6814.jpg

This was around the time when Alice in Wonderland was coming out, so that's why they had a display dedicated to it. Even though I don't care much for the animated version (haven't seen the Johnny Depp one yet), I have to say that the Cheshire Cat mug is cute and just perfect for that design.

IMG_6815.jpg

Reminds me of Mary Poppins! Haha, is it supposed to be?

IMG_6816.jpg

Look! Another crossbody bag! It still doesn't beat mine though. I think it's because mine is made out of the material that won't get dirty. Plus, it's loud without being too loud.

IMG_6817.jpg

I was fond of this design even though it was white!

IMG_6818.jpg

Okay, so remember the bag I really wanted to get? The black and white comic bag? I found one on a table and opened it up to take a look inside. Well, while I was checking out the roominess, I also found the price tag. Wait, $138??? I didn't realize it was one of the other expensive brands that designs for Disney. I forgot the name, and I'm too lazy to look it up!

IMG_6819.jpg

Oh bag, I do love you so much, but you are way out of my price range for being partially white and easily dirtied. A picture will have to do.

IMG_6820.jpg

It's not even just the merchandise that's fun to look at. There's a ton of stuff on the walls too!

IMG_6821.jpg

It'd be so fun to have all of these paintings on the ceiling of an attic room that's slanted.

IMG_6822.jpg

Of course, I've seen teh chandeliers many times, but seeing it in real life was so so so cool and so pretty! So many colors! Pictures (especially not mine!) don't do it justice.

IMG_6823.jpg

Mickey's there at the spot that divides Tren-D from Team Mickey. He's like, "Are you seriously going to leave this store without buying anything?"

IMG_6824.jpg

Yup, I really am going to leave. I took a lot of pictures and so did Weird at my request! The pictures will have to do because your stuff is expensive! And I didn't find the headband!

IMG_6825.jpg

His pictures will be in the next update (hopefully tomorrow)!

I love Tren-D! It is crazily overwhelming though-- kind of hard to pick something out when there's SO much packed into a small space, like you said!

You did a great job of helping me virtually shop at Tren-D! There are so many cute bags but I wouldn't know what to do with half of them!

Joining in, hope that's alright. :)

I love that little Peter Pan ride vehicle figure! I'm impressed that Weird was able to find one by feeling the bags.

Also loving all the bags at Tren-D. I'm not normally someone who loves purses, but man, some of those are so cute! And the chandeliers there are fantastic.

I think when I go, I'll have to borrow your idea of just taking pictures of things. It's less expensive AND I don't have to worry about how I'll fit it all in my suitcase on the way home.

Ahh more shopping pics! I was good on this trip, I didn't buy anything except a Mickey mug for my mom. I'm glad I didn't go in Tren-D though, that Mary Poppins Mickey shirt is really cute. I probably would have bought it! ;)

No matter how much I want one, I can't see myself spending 200+ for a D&B white tote bag. I'll just keep reading the D&B thread over in the theme parks community board to get my fix :p

So on my day off, I thought I'd give the new Disney Store a visit since I had talked to Rae about going and we had seen a few pics here and there and it didn't look all too impressive. I had to see for myself to make sure it wasn't worth going to since it's a bit of a commute. For those of you who are looking for the address, it's 1540 Broadway, New York, NY 10036.

I almost didn't see it amongst the millions of signs on Broadway since the storefront looks like this:
IMG_5781.jpg

I was coming from the right side of the picture so I didn't really see anything sticking out saying, "Hey, Disney Store is this way!" so I could've passed right by! But then again, there are all of those flashy LED screens that I don't think I could've missed since they were quite bright, even with the sun beating down.

On the first floor, they have a long stretch with merchandise along the walls, an escalator on the left, and NY-specific stuff in the middle. I'd say it was only a fraction of what the World of Disney store had.

IMG_5767.jpg

The cashiers on the first floor with the escalator in the background

IMG_5753.jpg

A big swing with plush dolls in the center of the first floor

IMG_5754.jpg

The majority of the NY-themed merchandise. It really was just one shelf and maybe another rack, half with pins, the other with keychains. I forgot to take a picture of that rack because it was a little disappointing.

IMG_5757.jpg

NY Vinylmation!

IMG_5758.jpg

Nightmare Before Christmas Vinylmation

IMG_5762.jpg

Toy Story 3 Vinylmation

IMG_5759.jpg

New elegant style of Disney princess shirts

I didn't get a shot of the Vinylmation stand that they had, but most of the first floor had the plush dolls and then themed sections of Disney movies. They had most of their t-shirts for kids and adults towards the back, with a few BLOC28 Mickey shirts. There's a small section dedicated to the Disney shows on Broadway towards the right of the registers, but nothing that really stood out. I was really missing the sections from the World of Disney store!

Let's head upstairs, shall we?

One of the first things I noticed when I got upstairs was this beauty:

IMG_5720.jpg

I think I stood here for a good 5 minutes, waiting as the sign spun so I could get a good angle and so the lights didn't reflect back at me too harshly. Forget about all of the other themed sections, I was in a trance! There were registers on the right, a few Toy Story items on the left, a pretty disappointing minor section for Tron Legacy, and a somewhat secluded nook for their Marvel items. I saw a few Iron Man masks and action figures, but I'm still detached from the whole Disney owning Marvel thing.

Anyway, back to the Cars kiosk. It's a station called Ride-Makerz, which is basically a place where you can build your own remote control car. They have decals, parts, wheels, etc. It looked pretty cool and I have to admit, I hovered around there for quite a while, snapping pictures whenever I could. I'm sure the CMs were thinking that it was strange to see a 24 year old hovering around some toy cars. But it was so cool! Check it out!

IMG_5728.jpg

I don't think I saw a regular Lightning body. Apparently people really like the whole flashy post-Piston Cup look. I'm not really a fan.

IMG_5730.jpg

The garage-like setup. You gotta admit, it's pretty cool!

IMG_5736.jpg

Some of the parts. It didn't seem too outrageously priced, but I couldn't justify it

Moving on, there was a blue curved road through each of the sections. An announcement came on and apparently I was just about to catch an Imagination Parade! I think I couldn't hide the excitement on my face because I was expecting Disney Characters to come marching out! And ... no characters. Just a bunch of kids with Disney paper masks marching around the blue road. What a bummer! I mean, I'm sure it was a lot of fun for the kids, but where are our Disney meet and greets?! The lights changed a bit and the trees had different lights on them, but other than that, it just looked like a somewhat fancier (probably because it's new) Disney store that you'd see at your local mall.

IMG_5725.jpg

Designs projected on trees. There was a lot of projection going on, so it seemed overly bright at times.

IMG_5731.jpg

Memorable quotes lined the walls along with Disney settings

IMG_5741.jpg

Going a bit out of order, but just to have continuity with the previous picture

Probably the crown jewel of the second floor (other than that AMAZING Cars kiosk), was this gem. :worship:
IMG_5740.jpg

I thought about getting one of these guys for Rae, but it didn't seem like it was exclusive to the NY store, so I decided to just do some photo-shopping! (get it? photoshopping? har har )
IMG_5746.jpg

Overall, I'd say it was a decently fun experience. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a place you must go to experience, but if you're in the area, it might be worth checking out. There was a good amount to see, but like Rae says, it would've definitely been more fun with her. She is my best friend after all!
IMG_5748.jpg

I love Tren-D! It is crazily overwhelming though-- kind of hard to pick something out when there's SO much packed into a small space, like you said!

I imagine people go in there and either get too overwhelmed to buy anything OR end up loving it all and buying too much! Haha, I can't imagine a happy medium because gosh, there's so much to see!

You did a great job of helping me virtually shop at Tren-D! There are so many cute bags but I wouldn't know what to do with half of them!

Haha, the update with Weird's photos will help you virtually shop some more! Yeah, there are just TOO many bag options that there has to be one that definitely calls out to you. I also have to know the purpose of getting a bag if I decide to buy it and know when I'd use it. Otherwise, I'd probably have more bags than days of a month!

Joining in, hope that's alright. :)

I love that little Peter Pan ride vehicle figure! I'm impressed that Weird was able to find one by feeling the bags.

Of course! YAY for a new reader! That excites me :goodvibes

Weird has much better spatial reasoning than I do. Haha, when I have to teach spatial reasoning to my 7th graders, I also have to study up on it so that I know it well and can break it down for them. The boys don't seem to have a problem doing it though!

I purposely went around taking pictures of bags, but I wish I had taken pictures of everything! I think Weird and I are going to have even MORE pictures during our February trip!

Ahh more shopping pics! I was good on this trip, I didn't buy anything except a Mickey mug for my mom. I'm glad I didn't go in Tren-D though, that Mary Poppins Mickey shirt is really cute. I probably would have bought it! ;)

I would have liked to see more items at Tren-D that were more affordable. Haha, I guess it's always going to be a look-but-not-buy kind of store for me!

Yeah, I can't justify the cost of a bag that expensive either. I had an issue paying $60 for my LeSportsac even though I had a specific purpose for it! I needed it for vacations because I wanted a crossbody and something that wouldn't get dirty. I really cannot see myself using a D&B that often.

That Cars display is amazing!! We're going into the city to see the tree the weekend after next, so we'll probably swing by (we'll be right in the area, obviously). It looks cool, but I can imagine someone being disappointed if they made a special trip just to go there.

Oohh thanks for the Disney update Weird! :) I can't believe I haven't made my way over there yet. The Cars kiosk is fantastic, they did a good job with it. I spot a Lotso bear in the third pic! If he smells like strawberries I might cave and get one!

Yeah!! I love the Cars display. I think that made the trip worth it, just because I literally stood there for a good minute, taking in the monument that stood before me, marveling in its splendor ... oh, sorry, I'm getting carried away!

I wonder if they'll have more Tangled things since the movie's out already. I hope you have a good time!

You're welcome! Haha, Rae and I are creeped out by Lotso. We watched TS3 last weekend and we had to rewatch the part where Lotso was ... oh, forgot, this could be a spoiler alert so I'm just gonna say when he smirked and turned away. You know??

We actually had a funny experience at our local Disney store before we watched TS3. We were buying something and the cashier had a big Lotso on the counter and he said, "You have to smell his tummy or I'm not ringing you up" and we both looked at him like he was crazy! Haha how do you just say that to someone? Though I suppose in a Disney store it's okay! Long story short, we ended up smelling his tummer and it smelled just like strawberries. I can't say that we want a Lotso after watching TS3!

Rachel- I'm sorry you didn't find your headband at Tren-D! I don't think that store was open the last time I was there because I don't remember it. It definitely looks like a great place to look around, but I don't see myself buying anything there. Like you said, it's way out of my price range! I have a few Disney splurges that I've always wanted, and a D&B bag is one of them. I put the wristlet on my Christmas list because I liked the really colorful ones they came out with. I liked the crossbody bag better, but it was just to expensive to ask for. The wristlet is only $49 and I thought I could carry it around with me on our trip. We will see! :) The other splurge I want to buy if I ever win the lottery is a huge Thomas Kinkade Disney painting. The new Bambi one is amazing. I want it so badly but a big one is probably like $1000. That's never going to happen!

Howard- Thank you for sharing your pictures with us! That Disney Store looks incredible! My sister used to work at the Disney Store in our local mall, but it closed down about a year and a half ago. I was so bummed, because it had been there ever since I was really little. I used to love walking by the window displays because they had an animated Mickey and Minnie mouse with their family (or nephews or whatever) sitting around a fireplace and I always wanted to climb through the glass and live with them

The NYC store looks like it's a lot fancier than the one we had in our mall though! I hope I get to go there someday. :)

I'm baaaaack! I've been a dead beat DISer for the past month or so and I kept forgetting to check your TR and PTR! I would love to comment on all of the updates but since I would probably take too long I'll just stick with this: Great updates and keep them coming!. I know that was the lamest comment but the next reply will be better, promise!;) Now I that I've finally finished reading your TR, I'm going to go check out your PTR and see how many character scramblers I've missed :rotfl:

Thanks for the review of the Disney Store in NYC! While it may not be as impressive as the WOD, it's still loads better than my local Disney Store. We can't wait to see it in person this weekend ourselves! I'm sure we'll still spend forever in there just trying to get my DD out of there.

It's okay that I didn't find the headband. I wouldn't have worn it that often anyway because I think I look younger with headbands. After seeing all those prices, I probably would have debated getting it anyway! Haha, I used to have a lot of Disney splurge items on my list, but they were mainly house/kitchen things. One of the moms of my student and former student (sister and brother) gave me $100 as an engagement gift. They're Disney fanatics too, so I told them I was going to spend that at Mickey's Pantry so that it'd be stuff I'd be using on a constant basis, and I would always remember them each time I used it! One thing I know I want to get is the pepper mill. I love freshly cracked pepper!

I'm glad we still have a Disney Store in our mall. I remember when it used to be MUCH bigger, like where 2-3 stores are right now! And of course, when it was that large, I didn't appreciate it!

Haha, I've been kinda away from DIS for a while too! You probably saw that when you checked out my PTR. Let's see if I can get some updates done since I'm off this week ... even though I have a TON of things to do for school and I have a lot of stuff to clean at home!

Thanks for the new Disney store tour Weird! :thumbsup2

Even though he said it wasn't that great, I still would love to go see it! I mean, I love walking into the small Disney Store at our mall, so the one in the city has to be better!

Thanks for the review of the Disney Store in NYC! While it may not be as impressive as the WOD, it's still loads better than my local Disney Store. We can't wait to see it in person this weekend ourselves! I'm sure we'll still spend forever in there just trying to get my DD out of there.

Did you enjoy you trip to the Disney Store? Haha, I know you made this comment a while ago, but I was away from my TR and PTR!

Tuesday, April 6: Tren-D with Weird's Camera

The last time I wrote an update, I said that I'd post Weird's pics the next day. Um, it's been over a month! Whoops, sorry about that! Let's get started with his Tren-D pictures.

If you look at this one display, you'll see that there are a ton of things to see. That's why I was glad that Weird went around taking pics as well.

IMG_2402.jpg

Neither of us drink wine or any alcohol at all, but if we did, it'd be fun to get a Mickey wine topper thing!

IMG_2403.jpg

I like this random shot Weird got of me in the store. It looks like I was placed in there using a green screen! It's that or it also just shows just how overwhelming the place is. It's as if everything around me is in movement, and I'm just in place because I'm strangely very clear! Plus, this pic makes me miss my long hair!

IMG_2409.jpg

The hat kinda makes me laugh. It's so ... ghetto, if that's the proper word to use.

IMG_2411.jpg

Look at how the merchandise is placed on the old chair. Gives the place even more character.

IMG_2414.jpg

I'm assuming things behind or under glass are really expensive! Considering everything in Tren-D was expensive, this stuff must be even MORE expensive!

IMG_2417.jpg

This would be cute for a group that wanted to match without being TOO matchy-matchy by having the same color.

IMG_2419.jpg

Didn't even see this at all! Guess it's because I'm not drawn to jewelry.

IMG_2421.jpg

Charm bracelets bother me because every time other girls would wear them, they'd make noise in class when writing. This especially bugged me during tests! Haha, I didn't understand how they could wear something that got in the way and made clinking sounds on the desk when they had to concentrate!

IMG_2424.jpg

Haha, are those scrunchies to the right? I remember the days of scrunchies! I recently wore a scrunchie, but it was on my wrist! In October, my school had Spirit Week. One of those days was Patriotic Day, so we had to wear red, white, and blue to get point for the class. Teachers would get the homeroom class 10 extra points if they dressed according to the schedule too. Well, I wore a red button down short sleeved shirt with white underneath. However, I needed blue, so I popped a blue scrunchie on my wrist! Haha, yes, it counted!

IMG_2425.jpg

It's blurry, but the Minnie bag is cute because it's only part of her face. It's like, a bag that WANTS to be subtle but only partially succeeded.

IMG_2427.jpg

Too bad I don't wear halter dresses because this was cute! I don't even wear them with bathing suits. I just throw on a tank or halter top with shorts.

IMG_2429.jpg

Blurry again but look! It's "my" bag!

IMG_2431.jpg

This is interesting. A bag that's really just a tote but designed to look like a fancier bag?

IMG_2433.jpg

Please don't mind this chunky photo of me. Haha, those denim shorts make me look extra dumpy.

IMG_2436.jpg

If I needed a homework notepad, I'd use this. Well, actually I wouldn't. Who am I kidding. I need a weekly agenda!

IMG_2437.jpg

Is it just me, or does that pic of Mickey look a little scary?

IMG_2438.jpg

Mickey's bottom!

IMG_2440.jpg

So many colors competing for your attention! I do automatically see the "bowling" type bag that I saw at MouseGear. This one's in pink though.

IMG_2442.jpg

Looks like a fun design for the wall of a game room or something in your house.

IMG_2444.jpg

I strangely like the Mickey painting with the rose coloring his face.

IMG_2447.jpg

(continued in next post)

(continued from previous post)

Of course, don't forget to look up!

IMG_2450.jpg

I wonder if it was in the plan to put paintings up there or if they just ran out of room! Knowing Disney, it was probably in the plans.

IMG_2451.jpg

I might be scared of that HUGE Tink painting if it were in my house.

IMG_2455.jpg

More and more and more!

I wonder if these even had Mickey on them. I think it's funny when there are items that don't have anything related to Disney on them. I mean, it may be nice, but isn't the point of buying something there to show that it's Disney?

More stuff. Seriously, I don't even know how to caption all these pics!

Cute shirt, but I don't really like shirts that have the picture on the whole front. I feel it makes me look funny.

Haha, I like this pic because it's the bag AGAIN, but it's even funnier because it looks like Matt's pointing to it in the background.

All those expensive Dooney & Burkes behind the counter!

Phew ... those were all his Tren-D pics! I hope to get more updates posted soon because it's really almost February! I should get this done before we leave!
