weight watchers question...

If you are disciplined you may find Buffets a good bet. Boma is especially good what with high quality fresh fruit, plain but interesting letuces and salmon or chicken. Of course you have to use your flex points for those amazing desserts!

i was on ww last trip...husband and i split most meals and that worked out the best for me as i could have a taste but not a ton. the buffets were bad for me. lots of high fat choices kept calling my name...
in general i found most places i could get a decent healthy meal but the portions are all huge

I am a lifetime WW member (lost 75 pounds :cheer2: )
and it is so possible to not get off track. Think about all the walking you'll be doing!
And WDW has done a very good job at offering healthy alternatives. Like most CS stands have the option of carrots instead of fries, and veggie burgers instead of regular, etc. And the resorts always have fruit, salads, etc.
But don't torture youself either, if there is 1 thing you must have, otherwise you'll wish you did, then get it, it won't kill you, trust me.
Now, I just have to follow my own advice when I head to the World in the am.
:rotfl: Just kidding, I am disciplined.

I restarted WW in May of this year, the day before we were going to WDW. Honestly, I really didn't watch what I ate, we stayed at BCV and Beaches and Cream was a nightly treat for us and our kids.

Got back and weighed in, come to find out I lost 2.2 lbs while there. All the walking helps ALOT.

Good luck and have fun.

Pam

i agree that you shouldn't kill yourself in an effort to stay totally OP while at DW. it is a vacation after all. try to make wise decisons, don't eat EVERYTHING on your plate, and walk, walk, walk. i've lost 61 lbs. so far :cheer2: , and i'll be at DW in january. can't wait, and i'm NOT gonna kill myself while down there. just have to remember to get right back ON TRACK when i return!! have an awesome time!!!

I will be missing a weigh in while there are there any meetings in the area?

One of my favorite Breakfasts at WDW is the Fruit plate at Kona. Drink your water. And even though you will do alot of walking at the parks make sure you tour your resort. I would take the long way every morning to refill my coffee mug.

if you will go to www.weightwatchers.com and can find meetings in the area. if you are planning to check-in at a meeting be sure to take your weigh-in book; it just makes life easy for the staff! good luck :earboy2:

I went in September while doing WW. I had the free dining plan, so I told myself I was just going to enjoy the food and not count points. I was quite pleased with my decision. First, I was not able to eat, and did not order, a dessert at any restaurant. By the end of the week, DH and I were also sharing an appetizer. I did miss a weigh in, but I do an At Work program, so it is not that big of a deal. When I came back - I had lost 1/2 pound. I think all of the walking makes up for the food. Also, I said to my DH on the way home that I could not wait to go back on the program the next day. WW really changes the way you think about food. I say go and enjoy yourself. WW will be there when you get back.

Grand Cayman in March and I cannot gain wait at WDW in January. I am going knowing I will have to get in a bikini 2 months later [couples only trip with DH's co-workers]. My plan is lots of water and salads. We are on the dining plan too so that will add a little challenge but I'll be able to share parts of my meal I'm sure. The walking will help but with 3 little ones, it won't be lots of walking and it won't be brisk. ;o) Just wanted to hear other people's ideas. The buffets will be good for me so I can pick the good for you stuff.
Trish

Edited to add: I'm also planning on running in the morning before family wakes up. Does anyone know if POP has running trails? Also, is there a gym nearby that I'm allowed to use [for a fee?] thanks.
Tris

Well, this technically doesn't answer your question but...

I was on the flex plan up to the day before I left for Disney this past July. I had been on for 6 weeks and lost about 14 pounds.

We were on the dining plan and I wanted to enjoy my food; not worry about counting points...so I went completely off it. I figured since we were doing so much waling it would be ok :)

It is now almost December, and I have yet to go back on and I have gained all my weight back plus a few more pounds...

I could say that Disney ruined my diet; but really, it is my own sheer lack of willpower.

I let myself relax a bit while at Disney last February, and came home about the same weight (no gain).
We were on the old Silver Plan, and used a few of our Wishes on nice big meals, but I was very careful about how much I ate. My rule was to fill up a plate with fruit at any buffet, and eat that before hitting the other parts, and finish any salad or veggies that were a part of my meal before trying to finish anything else.

If I was full, I stopped eating. Period. Even if that meant I had only taken one or two bites of my dessert or entree.

I was very happy to see fresh fruit available at the parks for snacks. A frozen banana counts as fruit, right?

When I calculated the amount of activity points I'd be earning (like, 10 per day at least?) I figured I'd be ok.

just to add, i didn't lose anything while we were gone. i gained a few lbs but i have a terrible time losing to begin with( like a 1/4 lb is a big lose for me, if i don't stick exactly to program forget even that). evidently i'm in the minority but the walking didn't help me( maybe cause i was already walking before hand? )
