Anybody eat following weight watchers at WDW?

If so, could you share some lunch/snack "hints". Lunch, we generally grab counter service rather than sit down.

My husband and I went to WDW in January while we were both on WW. I didn't watch what I ate that much. We did split a few meals and I did eat light for breakfast most mornings. When I got back I was pleasantly surprised that I had only gained 1.8! I figure all that walking helped me. I wore a pedometer a few days just out of curiousity. We walked about 5-7 miles a day, which is way more than I walk at home. I will tell you this...there are a lot of healthy alternatives available at WDW. There a carts around the parks that sell fruits and veggies. Fish is always a good option and available at most restaurants (without all the heavy sauces and such). You will do just fine. Good luck and have a great time. Remember, you are on vacation! Dawn
PS. I have my weigh in tonight and will be making lifetime if all goes well. :)

My wife lost 90 lbs on WW, and while she was loseing her weight we went to WDW many times. We always try to eat half of our breakfast in our room ( we bring cereal with us ) . We also eat lots of fruit during the day instead of big lunches. We also take WW bars or other bars to snack on during the day. Drink pleanty of water this helps big time. Just go and enjoy yourself, remember your at WDW you will be home soon enough.

My parents did WW while we were there and I think they did pretty well. They had both already lost 50 pounds, and they often shared a counter service meal (like the rotisserie chicken at Cosmic Rays or Pizza at Pizza planet) and they got salads instead of burgers, etc. But they indulged a bit too- I think my dad did get a burger at Pecos Bills, but then had salad for dinner. Or they shared a popcorn or Mickey Bar. I think at our fancier meals they once had fish, and once they just went all out. We walked so much it (almost) all evened out in the end. I think they said they gained a pound and a half or so. Not too bad considering all the meals we had!!

WW lifetime member here. Disney has plenty of great low-point choices, but my biggest tip would be to always split your meals with someone. For the most part, the portions are HUGE and way too much for one person, and usually more than enough for two. Besides, if you're still hungry, you can always get more. (Can you tell one of my problems is that I feel I always have to clean my plate?)

Oh, one other thing, just because something is listed on the menu board as a combo meal (i.e. sandwich and fries) if you read the fine print, you'll notice you can order things a la carte, like just the sandwich and skip the fries. Many places will also substitute baby carrots or fruit for the fries.

I'm also a lifetimer who goes to Disney every year. I usually do o.k. if I try to eat a light bkfst, light lunch and then pretty much what I want for dinner. I think I gained around 2 lbs last year but they came right back off when I went back strict when I got back home. I would agree with the other posters. Try to watch where you can and enjoy all the walking, but don't stress over it too much. I find that weight is easiest to lose right after you gain it. As long as you get back on the plan when you get home, you'll do great. Enjoy!!

I've lost 91 lbs in 8 months doing WW, and I've been to WDW twice during that time. The trick for me was sticking to a light breakfast and lunch, then letting myself really enjoy dinner (ordered what I wanted, tried to stick to eating only half, But had dessert every night even though I couldn't always finish it!). I didn't try to count points, as it was just too hard not knowing how things were really cooked. But I lost a pound while we were there for 4 days in March and a half pound during the last week long trip in June. I did exercise most mornings at the gym or laps in the pool. And we did so much walking that I got in tons of extra exercise.

First, try to follow all your usual practices -- order salad dressing on the side, lots of water. Any place you go will happily make you an egg beater or egg white omelet -- just ask! With just veggies this is a delicious low-point breakfast. If you like it, aim for fish and seafood as it's much lower in points. At the fast food places, even if you want a cheeseburger or hot dog, you can usually replace the fries that come with it with fresh fruit or carrot sticks.

Great places to eat on WW:
Olivia's at OKW for breakfast -- they have an eggwhite omelet that comes with wheat toast and fresh fruit. YUMMY!
The Harambe fresh fruit cart in AK has an amazing selection of cut up fruits. In June they even had fresh tomatos with a vinaigrette for dipping -- it was FANTASTIC!
Tusker House at AK also has a great salad with the same vinaigrette dressing.
Cosmic Ray's has a great chicken caesar salad and they'll be happy to put the dressing on the side. They also have vegetable soup that I assumed was low in points (but high in sodium) and was very good.
Nine Dragons at Epcot has a Drunken Chicken Salad that is just lettuce and veggies with shredded chicken that was marinated in a sake marinade. Comes with a ginger dressing on the side that is excellent. Also love their wonton soup and it too is probably very low in points.
I love O'Hana's. I fill up on the stir-fry veggies and a little lo mein, then pig out on the huge shrimp! I usually allow myself a wing or two, but I pull of the skin, and a few bites of steak as well. I'm always satisfied there.
Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki at Epcot is also great. They'll happily cook your hibachi with no oil or butter if you ask and they have a variety of low point seafoods to choose from.

Most importantly though let your inself indulge some! This is vacation and if we're too hard on ourselves, the plan won't work for life. Like I said, I had dessert every night in June and still LOST weight! And now if I'm out at dinner I find it easier to say no to dessert because I know the next time I'm at WDW, I can really enjoy the desserts then!
