Weight Watchers anyone?

I am starting the new WW program TOMORROW! January 1st.

Just a little tip......you can join the WW online for 7 days for a FREE trial and check it out. During that 7 days, you can order the intro kit, the calculator, and whatever else you want. Then you can cancel your free trial if you don't wish to continue.

Our local center won't sell to anyone who isn't a member, so this was the only way I could get materials without joining.

Thanks for that tip. :) What is the price for the intro kit and calculator? I can't seem to find the info online.

Weight Watchers has changed my life. I started last April at 206 lbs and now weigh 137! I made goal in November, but I've dropped five more pounds with the new plan. I've made the decision to continue to attend meetings...I need that accountability. Anyway, now that I made lifetime, I only pay for eTools. eTools is so worth it. I have the WW app on my iPhone and I use it daily.

Good luck!

I also recommend Sparkpeople. I wonder if we could set up a DIS group over there?

That's awesome Fiveforall! :thumbsup2

Just curious in case you happen to know...what is the WW recommended weight for a 40 year old female and the height of 5'6"?

I did it about 10 years ago and became a lifetime member. I have gained some back and cant' shake it. So on Tuesday I started back. The $13 is worth it to me. I've tried doing it on my own and I just don't do it. The meetings help me be accountable and encourage me. I didn't do the online tools because of the cost. I would love to have access to some of it but it's not in the budget right now. So the $13/week is going to have to do.

Currently (at least on Tuesday) you could purchase the dining companion, the food companion, and the 3 month tracker for like $20. Then the calculator was free.

My DH and I have been on WW since August 1 using some old materials I had lying around. I've lost 44 lbs. and he's lost 34 (he cheats!). I've read about the newest program, but the older one is working fine for us so we're going to stick with it.

Here are some points-friendly foods we like:

Breakfast - Sandwich thin (1 pt), 1/2 cup egg sub. or 3 egg whites (1 pt), 1 serving Canadian bacon (1 pt), 1 slice low-fat American cheese (1 pt). This makes a very tasty and filling breakfast sandwich. We alternate with 1 cup cooked oatmeal (2 pts) topped with 1 cup bran flakes (2 pts). I add Splenda and cinnamon to mine. DH adds brown sugar and milk to his.

Lunch - We eat Boca Burgers almost everyday. If you get the Original Vegan kind, they're 1 pt. Use a sandwich thin (1 pt) or an 80 calorie bun (1 pt) with 1 slice of low-fat American cheese (1 pt). I add a little ketchup but not enough to count. The whole burger is only 3 points. I have this at work with a bag of pretzels (2 pts).

Dinner - I load up on veggies at dinner since it's hard to eat them at work (I usually eat standing up in a preschool room and need portable foods). We have chicken or turkey breast (3 pts), baked potatoes (3 pts) or brown rice (4pts a cup). I almost always have a big salad at dinner with low or non-fat dressing. I like to add 1 point worth of croutons to make it crunchy. I also make broccoli, green beans or whatever else we have around.

Snacks - We both like air-popped popcorn. You can make a huge bowl with 6 tablespoons of popcorn for 4 points. We use a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray and salt. Sometimes I have an apple or pear (1 pt each) with 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese (2 pts).

We still eat at our share of restaurants. Many have light menus and nutritional guides on the tables. We know what we can have at our old stand-by restaurants. Before we go to new ones, we look up the menu online and figure out what would be best. Last night, my sister picked up take-out for my b-day from a non-chain pizza place. They didn't have a nutritional guide on their website so we had to guess. I got a house salad w/ranch and used just a tiny bit of dressing and an individual veggie pizza with no cheese. I sprinkled on a little grated parmesean and it was fine. For my b-day cake, I asked my mom to make an angel food cake which is fat free. I was down almost 1/2 a pound this morning so I think I did fine!

Hope this info. helps people with their WW food choices!:)

I just had half of a Skinny Cow mint ice cream sandwich. Yummy!

I've been a ww member for 8 years now. Once you are at goal & maintain it, you are free. So my goal was to get to free as quickly as possible. I lost 40 lbs in 6 months. And have been more or less (had a baby & some illness) since. So I'm a big fan! And I love the new system.

As for the "whining" at meetings, I love it. I say my weekly meeting is my reset button. All the whining I do in my head, they say outloud and yet are still being successful. It makes me more motivated to quiet my inner brat and just "do it."

I find the etools wonderful but the message boards can be overly strict & hurtful, not as supportive as the meetings, at least for me. I've read threads where the poor op is attacked for having a diet soda or baked lays. Obviously, these are not as healthy ad carrots, but ww is supposed to be for real people in real life. I find better, more realistic support in person where no one jumps down your throat but instead gently help you adopt one healthy habit after another.

And think of the money you'll save on health care! That's my 2 cents. I've tried lots of diets but found ww was the only one I could make into a lifestyle. But if you go into it thinking it's a temporary diet, than that's what it'll be: temporary. And that really is a waste of money.

You can do it!

I have a warning if you plan on joining online or doing the free 7 day trial, they do not have any of the member kits available from the basic to the deluxe all are sold out. I don't know how they can take peoples money to join online and then not have the materials available for them to buy?

Thanks for the warning! I was planning on joining in person this week, so I'm hoping they aren't out of materials there too.

I also recommend Sparkpeople. I wonder if we could set up a DIS group over there?

Over on the WISH boards there is a new Biggest Loser challenge starting. Look for the Spring 2011 challenge. Very friendly bunch of people. And it's free.

FIVEFORALL HOORAY FOR YOU! That's just fantastic. As they say nothing is as good as being thin feels! I hope your very proud of your success :thumbsup2

Planning to start tomorrow. Just bought the 1/2 off monthly pass so thanks to whoever posted that link!

Good luck to us all!
