Hi all!! I've never posted here on the WISH board (although I am a regular in other places around here;) ), but I wanted to let you all know about the new Weight Watchers meals that they offer at Applebee's. I was told about them by my leader at my WW meeting on Friday.... so it was out to dinner that night!! THere are about 6 entrees and two or three desserts. The entrees include a couple of dinner size salads with chicken, a Teriyaki shrimp skewer with rice/veggies, a grilled tilapia with mango salsa and rice/veggies, a chicken skillet meal (like fajitas), a chicken wrap sandwich type thing.... cannot remember the rest!!

Anyhow, I started with the onion soup. Very not worth the points (3) or price. I would personally skip it. But then again, I have never been a huge onion soup fan. I would like to see them offer a minestrone or vegetable WW soup. I was torn between the Baja chicken roll-up sandwich (grilled chicken with black beans, corn, and a few other things) for 10 points and the Sizzling Chicken skillet for 7 points. I picked the chicken skillet. It was presented sort of like a fajita. The chicken/peppers/onions were delivered on a skillet (not exactly sizzling, but hot). Next time I would ask for them to be cooked more. I love grilled onions/peppers, but these were not done enough for me. There was also a fajita warmer of tortilla quarters (looked like one LARGE tortilla that was cut into quarters), and a plate with a small dish of some sort of dressing, a small dish of spicey red sauce, and a mound of chopped lettuce.

I used the tortilla pieces and ate most of it like fajitas. Then, with the remaining chicken/pepper mix, I added the lettuce and dressing and ate it like a salad. The red sauce was spicy but probably not too bad for most people.

I thought that the serving size was plenty and I really enjoyed it and look forward to going again! My WW leader has tried the Teriyaki shrimp and said it was tasty, but the serving portion seemed a bit small. (I believe it is two skewers with 5 shrimp each and a small mound of rice and some veggies).

I didn't try any of the desserts. The two that I recall was a chocolate raspberry layer cake, and a lemon cheesecake (a scoop of cheesecake on a bed of fresh strawberries and drizzled with raspberry sauce).

Anyhow, that is my review for you. But my DH and I will have to alternate going to Applebee's with going to TGIFridays, as they have an Atkins menu for him!!

Have a great weekend!......................P

Thanks for the review of the Applebee's offerings!

I've been wondering about it... will have to try it soon. :D

We went yesterday & I had the sizzling chicken skillet (basically chicken fajitas) for 7 points & the chocolate raspberry layer cake for 4 points. Both were delicious & we're already planning on going back next weekend. You can check out the menu on their website. I compared the WW meals for the rest of the menu & the prices were about the same. I am so excited!!:hyper:http://www.applebees.com

Thanks for the information. I can't wait to get back to the US so that I can sample some of their offerings. It will be nice to go out to eat and not have to worry about calculating POINTS.

Well I didn't make it until next weekend, we went to Applebees again today:teeth: Today I had the onion soup au gratin (3 points) & the mesquite chicken salad (4 points). They were both just ok but when I think about eating out for only 7 points that makes it even better!!

You are sooo right about that! I'm going tomorrow night for dinner with my cousin. Can't wait to try them out!

Keep in mind, this contains comments about some poor server quality and, not poor food quality.

My cousin and I both had the onion soup, and we like onion soup, and it was really good! The cheese melted just like normal and, the bread/crouton covered the top of the bowl. SOO worth the 3 points, but at $3.49....eh, coulda been less $, I think.

I had the shrimp skewers, and thankfully the teriyaki sauce is served on the side. I didn't care for the rice, but that was surely just me, because it had what I call 'funky' stuff in it......zuccini maybe, peppers...that's 'funky' to me. The veggies looked good, cousin's DS ate my carrots, but again, those are 'funky' to me. blech Broccoli and, I think, yellow squash was mixed in too. For 5 points it was worth it. $9.99 Now, as for server quality...she brought our meals before we finished our soup so, my shrimp were not at all hot, barely warm, by the time I ate them. Good thing shrimp can be eaten that way.

My cousin was going to have the Mesquite chicken salad until the server told her it was spicy. How spicy? It's been sent back a few times. Tip: the spiciness is in the dressing (so they say). :( So, she had the grilled citrus chicken salad instead. She liked it, but said it was spicy! She also devoured the chocolate raspberry layer cake. :cake: :p

8 pts for a restaurant dinner for me is not bad! I was filled without being stuffed. Cousin said she was stuffed. (ya think?:cake: ) :p

Enjoy!

I have been twice already now. We went this past weekend and I just went on yesterday with the kids. The first time I had the onion soup (yummy) I then had the sizzling chicken skillet (very good, I had mixed everything together like a salad and also had it in the wraps.) I tried the chocolate cake also (not really too good, it tasted like the cake was baked a few days ago)

Then when I went yesterday. I started off with the onion soup again. I had the shrimp teryika for my entree. It tasted good also. I soo wanted to try the lemon cheesecake but skipped. (yah me :Pinkbounc )

I would like to try out the other items also.

I had the lemon cheesecake and it was so good. You would never know it was only 5 points. I also had the chicken skillet. I thought that was good as well.

I went the other day and had the mesquite chicken salad and boy was it spicy! My mouth was on fire by the end of the salad. Although it was spicy it was very good. If they could just tone it down a little I think it would be better.

I am excited to try the other items. I am excited to hear that they are coming out with more choices.
