Hi guys,
My family and I are going to disneyland in December. I am 6' 4" and around 350 lbs. Well I be able to ride on the rides?
I have been caught out here at movie world in the past and it is very embarrassing. Any information gratefully accepted.
Is that time in December a good time to go?

Thanks:cheer2:

Matterhorn and goofys flight school will give you trouble , due to lack of leg room. Not sure about other rides. Weight wise, most of the rides are wide enough for the larger figure , you may be a little squashed on a few of the older rides in DL , but I travel with a friend who is on the larger size and she rarely has trouble. Most other posts I have read about weight ,ppl say they fit on most to all of the rides. I think it will be leg space that will be your biggest hurdle. Hope you get some more imput and have a great time.

My DH is 6'4" as well. He avoids Goofy Sky School and Matterhorn. He rides alone in some if the rides that have a bar that comes down I've his lap (BTMRR, SM). Just be prepared that there will be some awkward folding of legs.

I'm similar in size and let me tell you, Disney is one of the size friendliest places I've ever been.

There are some rides that are just not fun- Goofy's Sky School and the swings being one of them.

Your height might cause issues if you have long legs on things like Matterhorn and Space Mountain.

Search Disneyland pooh sized and you'll find all kinds of resources, tips and tricks :)

Welcome to the DIS! pixiedust:

What part of December were you asking about? Early December if fine. Between Christmas and New Years -- I'm allergic to the crowds.

DH is big/tall like you but has had fewer problems at DLR than at other places like Six Flags and Universal. We would love to do Harry Potter but there's no way he would fit.

I have heard that Silly Symphony Swings is the only attraction that has a weight limit (250lbs maximum, I think).

I believe you might have a problem with California Screaming if the shoulder harness doesn't come down past a certain point and again leg room. Both my husband and I are big people but not as tall as 6'4" we are only in the 5'6" to 5'8" range

I don't know if they have a weight limit or not, but I weighed 240 at our visit last year (I'm now down almost 40 lbs from that, yay!) and I was VERY uncomfortable on them.

Ok, I am a bigger guy myself, so I know how to answer this:
Rides that you will definitely not be able to ride:
Silly Symphony swings -it, like all rides like it had a weight limit.

That's it for the definitely no to riding.
Here are the rides that may give you difficulty and when possible how to allow for it:
Goofy's Sky School & space Mountain - ask for your own row and cross your legs at the ankle before sitting down.

Matterhorn - this is one that you will need to look at and determine for your self, it most likely is possible, but if you ride space first you will probably have a better idea of how to do it.

Star Tours - there is a seat that the side opens on, mostly meant for wheelchairs, but they can put others in it and open the side to make it easier to get in and out. Note: they have to close the side before starting the ride, but it does make loading and unloading easier.

Haunted Mansion - Due to the redesigned restraints, you may have difficulty in the regular cars, if this happens don't let them tell you that you can't ride, ask for the transfer vehicle instead, it had a bit differently designed restraint system that should work for most people.

Roger rabbit -ask that no one be seated next to you, unless you have a small child with you, that can work, but have them go in first si they are not near the door.

California Screamin' - depending on how you carry your weight, the restraints may or may not work for you, but in all honesty I haven't seen anyone they don't work for.

Teacups and autopia - may be difficult due to little leg room, but should be possible.

Finding Nemo - ask for an extra seat, it will make you and those around you more comfortable.

On all rides with seat belts: pull the belt completely out before sitting down, buckle it and then tighten the slack.

Ride locations to get the most leg room:
Winnie the pooh and Monsters Inc. - ask for the front row

Splash Mountain - ask for the back row

big Thunder - ask for any row that is divisible by 3 (in other words the back of each car, doesn't need to be the very back of the train, although that's the most fun in my opinion. )

Indiana Jones - ask for the second or third row. Also if you are on the edge of the car, make sure nothing is in that outside pocket, many people have lost keys, wallets, etc. On that ride.

Pirates and small world - front row has the most leg room, but I don't find any of the rows to be an issue.

gadgets go coaster - just make sure they don't put anyone next to you and it will be uncomfortable, but possible.

I know this looks like a long list, but really most of it is just advice on how to have a more enjoyable ride experience and have a better trip. You will find that there is only the one ride that you absolutely cannot ride. And if for some reason you cannot ride another, Disney is good about being as discreet as possible about it and trying to remedy the situation, sometimes this is as simple as a different ride vehicle, such as perhaps allowing you to use a wheelchair and the ADA vehicle, other times it might be that they can't make that ride work for you, so they will give you a pass to go on another ride with little to no wait. This is very rare though.

Hopefully this helps out.

I agree with other, height tends to be the issue for the most part, not enough leg room. I think you'll be just fine though!!

Bug's life at DCA - the ladybugs are snug for long legs. The bumper cars at DCA are horrific if you are larger on top (goes for more endowed women too)!!

My DH is the same height and 325, and like others have said, DL is the friendliest/easiest way for him to enjoy rides.

I will say that he calls Goofy's Sky School the "nut buster" and refuses to go on it. The overview cmwade77 gave is very accurate, and so as long as you know what you need to do for each ride, you will have a great time.

Have a magical time!

Your height will definitely save you some squishing on rides, but then you've got the legs getting in the way.

I definitely agree with the seatbelt trick. I don't know HOW it works, but it's just so much easier to get that seatbelt done up if you pull it all the way out and then sit down. Indy, Star Tours, and so on.

I disagree, however, that the front row on Pooh is best. I had noticed that my knees were nearly touching when I sat in the front, and, um, I'm short. I tried the second row and there was more room. DH didn't believe me for ages, but finally tried it and agreed. Now DS and I sit in the second row and DH sits in back, and we have more room than sitting in the front.

My husband was bigger than you for several of our DLR trips and is shorter than you. The only ride still in existence that he could not go on was the now-named Goofy's Sky School. He needed to get the bar under his belly. To get the bar under his belly he had to do something with his legs (I think it was cross them at the ankles like stated above). His legs are like tree trunks and he could not do what he needed to do. He had to get out of the seat, and I had to move to sit next to DS (who was something like 5 at the time and couldn't ride alone), in a heartbeat. It was really really bad.

The rides still in existence that he just doesn't much like getting into are AstroOrbiters and Matterhorn. And the ride that he loves but isn't comfy on is Space Mountain.

He's never even tried the Tuck 'n Roll bumper cars in DCA. Not sure we've celebrated more than when DS got tall enough and old enough to ride that puppy alone. :)

Another big thing. Being the size I am, the biggest obstacle on my trip is all the walking!

I highly recommend you start a walking regime to get your feet and legs used to the insane amount of walking you'll be doing in the parks!

My husband is 6' 6" and the only ride he can't fit on is Space Mountain and also the rockets because of the limited legroom.

Thanks so much guys

All the information is fantastic and I am most grateful for. You are all awesome. It is my first trip overseas. We will be in Anaheim for 10 days and are lucky enough being Aussie to get a ten day Aussie pass. We arrive in Anaheim on the 7th December and are staying at the Residence inn Garden Grove. It is now only 59 days until we fly over. Again I thank you all for your assistance. Have a great day:cool1:
