Weight Loss Stalled during Induction?

Has anyone ever suffered from this? Am I too obsessive weighing myself daily?

I am on day 9 of induction and seemed to have stalled on my weight loss.

I have lost 6.75 lbs (down from 7.25 on Monday).

I have not cheated. I have not even licked my fingers when making the kids food. No bread, noodles, sugar, potatoes, etc.

The only ? is the caesar salad dressing on my salad last night at Red Lobster.

I am not overeating also. I have been using fitday.com and most days my total caloric intake is around 1500 calories.

I have some aspartame daily in the SF Jell-o (which is listed as OK on the Induction part of book).

I am going to buy strips today and see if they turn purple just to make sure I am in ketosis.

Any ideas?

Already had a bad day with son's teacher, but am determined not to let it undermine my good behaviors. I only ate boiled eggs for breakfast:p . Usually the b**** would drive me to something sweet! (Already made the Jell-o and it is in the fridge).

Please Help!

All I can say is, me, too!

Week before last I did my first week of Induction and lost absolutley nothing - up until then I was actually losing on low carb high protein - going to almost no carbs stalled me, completely. I am still holding on to faith that I will start seeing the loss. If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd sure appreciate it, too. (Last week I was traveling to DS's graduation - did pretty well, not perfect and am back on Induction starting today)

Hang in there with me, ok?

Sometimes it helps to add a couple more carbs. Have a few more veggies on your salad today, or add some cooked veggies to your dinner tonight! Maybe an ounce of almonds (about 10-12) would do the trick. Or about 6 macadamia nuts.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your body is adjusting to the weight you've already lost, and it will "catch up" in a couple of days and you'll start losing again. You'll find this happens every few pounds or so. :)

Boy can I relate

I was "almost" at my new clippie and I went away for the weekend with a big group and was not able to stay strickly on induction. Did pretty well considering we had to eat every meal out but sometimes due to big time constraints we had to eat fast. I will nab that clippie yet.

Anyway, I don't really have any help for you, just sympathy :p

I would get the test strips, that will help. One thing I do notice on induction is if you up your FAT intake while keeping your carbs low it will turn those strips purple :Pinkbounc You can try that. We are talking like butter, mayo, etc. Weird but true.

:bounce:

Everyone, thanks for the quick response. It helps to know there is someone here listening.

Well, the fat wasn't a problem yesterday.

DH took me to Red Lobster for dinner so I had King Crab Legs and ate 1 1/2 things of butter with it. (I can't remember the last time I let myself eat the butter).

I'm hanging in there and determined.

Just wanted to know if it happened to others too.

I have been sooooooo good.

I really have my doubts that Red Lobster butter is 'pure buttter'. It just has a different taste. It is yummy -- but I think it is some sort of imitation butter --- which could be causing some of your problems. Even if it IS the real shabang -- it is so high in salt that it would surely cause a temporary stall or gain.
:D

Thanks for the thought.

I am back to boiled eggs for breakfast today, chicken salad for lunch and I haven't even thought about dinner:rolleyes: .

I don't know how much I lost everyday because I won't weigh myself that often but I think that 6 pounds in 9 days is just awesome progress. WOW!

Seriously WOWWOWWOW~ That's what? .75 pounds per day?????

You are complaining about this? You are considering this a stall? Seriously?

Okay, I think I need another vacation. Time for me to head back to the Magic Kingdom. I've got some serious star wishing to do. I would so much love to be losing that much everyday.

I am so jealous. I had over 100 pounds to lose when I began Atkins.

I lost 5 pounds the first week=.71 pound per day
Week two I lost 7 pounds=1 pound per day (let me tell you, I was handing out cigars over that one)
Week three I lost 6 pounds
Week 4 I lost .5 pounds

Don't even ask about weeks 5 thru 8, it wasn't pretty. I do believe that losing zero pounds in four weeks is technically and legally considered a stall.

I think you are doing great kiddo. Be proud of what you have accomplished don't be borrowing disappointment.

A stall=4 weeks with zero weight loss. That's according to Atkins himself.

Ahhhhhhhhhh- Kath IS BACK!!! Isn't it nice?!!? :p

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound whiny! I am excited about the first 7 pounds, but with 100 still to go, I don't want to stop at all.

I was just stymied when the weight loss stopped and then little gain.

I completely understand the 0 pounds in 4 weeks is a real "plateau". I am sending PD your way to help kick your scales in the a** and get them off of that number.

I'll report back later when the scales are again moving, or when I need a little kick in the behind.

Thanks,

I know that you aren't whiny. We get in such a hurry to lose all of our weight quickly that we just totally forget that it took us several years to gain this much weight.

If there was a way to lose 100 pounds overnight there wouldn't be a billion dollar business in helping people to learn how to do that and we wouldn't even have WISH.

Patience is a good virtue to cultivate, it helps keep us from getting so frustrated.

You should measure yourself if you haven't done that already. I lost nothing during February but I lost 20.75 inches. It really helped to know that I was getting smaller even though I didn't seem to be losing weight. Getting smaller is the objective here. Hang in there, you can do this!
